Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2683: Chapter 1925: Rise of the Useless (Part 2)

Robert started to speak, but was interrupted by the old steward raising his hand.

This could be considered an exceedingly rude act. The old steward in the family was a veteran in etiquette, the last person expected to make a mistake in manners.

The current scene was evidently deliberate.

The people present felt a secret thrill of pleasure in their hearts.

”Gentlemen, you may leave first. I will resolve this matter with Mr. Robert,” Mr. Stuart the old steward said to everyone.

Some were reluctant to miss the upcoming spectacle, but given the old steward’s words, insisting on staying would be disrespectful and breach proper conduct, also leading to criticism.

Weighing the pros and cons, they could only feel ”regret.”

”Then we’ll leave first, and you have a good chat with Robert,” someone said with a smile.

Others chimed in, giving Robert looks tinged with a bit of mockery.

Subsequently, these people departed and headed straight out of the hall.

From afar, they heard the old steward speaking sternly to Robert, ”Mr. Robert, please come over here to talk, after all, speaking here is quite inappropriate...”

As those people left, they felt increasingly gloat.

On the other side, Mr. Stuart the old steward led Robert inside, stopping only in a deserted corridor.

”Mr. Stuart,” Robert said softly.

The old steward gave him a warm smile, ”Young Master Robert, I had to offend you earlier, it was necessary, there’s no need to bother with those people.”

This Mr. Stuart was actually a staunch supporter of Robert, ever since his childhood.

The timing of this family meeting was his suggestion.

With his assistance, Robert dared to confidently return to the family.

”Regarding your matters in West Africa, I’ve already arranged it so that every important figure in the clan is aware. However, all they know is that you established a connection with the Anlos Family by chance, and have significant news to report back. The rest will depend on you to narrate,” Mr. Stuart the old steward said with a smile.

”Thank you very much!” Robert was immensely grateful.

”No need to say more, there are many eyes and ears here, you should head upstairs quickly. The family meeting is nearly over, it’s just the right time for you to appear!” Mr. Stuart the old steward advised.

Robert nodded repeatedly.

The two walked towards the elevator. Seeing no one around, Robert asked, ”Does Caroline still come back often lately?”

This is Caroline’s home. She practically returns whenever she has time. Caroline’s study is on par with the clan leader’s status, ordinary people aren’t allowed in, and it’s even guarded daily by designated personnel.

Coupled with the family’s tight security, capable of purchasing high-level security systems and safes, many of Caroline’s secrets are hidden within the family.

”Same as before, she comes back once every two or three days when she’s here,” Mr. Stuart’s response was filled with layers of implications, ”All habits are unchanged.”

This statement was quite meaningful.

They had already collected many of Caroline’s behavioral habits.

Robert nodded, secretly sneering in his heart.

No matter how sharp and cunning Caroline was, in the end, there would be places that would cause her to mentally relax, which was within this family.

And Mr. Stuart, in front of others, maintained a distant and cold facade with Robert, even deliberately finding faults, which was an extremely deep disguise that even Caroline hadn’t seen through.

Or to say, in this family, where she let her guard down, it didn’t matter to her whether a steward favored or disfavored someone, true or false, it wasn’t worth her spending much energy on.

This was essentially a typical case of ”the darkest place is right under the lamp.”

Robert intended to utilize these two points to achieve his wishes.

At this point, Mr. Stuart the old steward took Robert all the way up the elevator. Encountering anyone, even just a servant, he would restrain his emotions, not giving Robert the slightest friendly expression.

Shortly after, the two reached the designated conference room for the family meeting.

The bodyguards stationed at the door, upon seeing Mr. Stuart the old steward, respectfully nodded and greeted him, yet somewhat ignored Robert, the host.

Nevertheless, both Mr. Stuart the old steward and Robert were accustomed to this.

Mr. Stuart the old steward checked the time and motioned for Robert to wait.

The waiting lasted a quarter of an hour, but in the context of a meeting, such a time was naturally insignificant.

At this moment, the door opened, and someone came out, another important figure in the clan.

Mr. Stuart the old steward quickly greeted him.

Seeing Mr. Stuart the old steward, that person gave a symbolic nod, then immediately glanced at Robert.

”Uncle,” Robert immediately greeted with a smile.

”Oh, Robert, you’re back already.” The man nodded, then seemed to recall something, flashing a smile, ”I heard you’ve had quite the opportunity in West Africa. That’s great, the family’s business could use some good news this year to uplift everyone. Why don’t you go and report to everyone. Stuart, you can now go and inform the Clan Leader, it’s already rest time.”

Robert nodded repeatedly, and the old butler Stuart also respectfully replied ”Yes.”

After leaving those words, the man went directly towards the restroom.

Actually, there are bathrooms in the meeting room, more than one, but sometimes they’re insufficient due to the number of people.

Some people are in a hurry to use it, so they have to step out. There’s nothing curious about that.

After the man left, the old butler Stuart exchanged a glance with Robert.

The reason for that person’s ”enthusiastic” reminder wasn’t that he viewed Robert differently, but because his own business wasn’t profitable this year, he probably just took a ”critique.” He asked Robert to go in, purely to save his own situation.

However, it’s also an important signal, the timing seems just about right.

The old butler Stuart immediately stepped forward and knocked on the door, received a response, and pushed the door open to enter.

Soon, the old butler Stuart came out again and spoke solemnly to Robert, ”The Clan Leader wants to see you, he’s taken five minutes of his break to see you!”

This is a crucial five minutes!

If Robert can use the news he brings to capture the elders’ attention, returning to the family might become possible.

Robert also immediately composed himself, adjusted his clothes, exuded self-confidence, and entered through the door.

The old butler Stuart watched the mature Robert from behind, though he appeared impassive, he was deeply gratified in his heart.

This child, whom he had watched grow up, finally has his day of growth.

...

As Robert entered the meeting room, he saw the Clan Leader with a serious demeanor conversing with others on the dais, and hundreds of important family figures seated below.

Some looked at him, others continued exchanging heated discussions with those beside them, disregarding him.

Robert composed his thoughts, and stepped toward the dais.

No matter what, today is the day Robert turns his life around!

The person who had just ”reminded” Robert returned several minutes later, glanced at the doorway to see only the old butler Stuart and not Robert, immediately gestured at the door and asked, ”Robert went in?”

”Yes, he’s already in there.” Stuart replied.

The man immediately wore a meaningful smile and pushed the door open to enter.

However, the scene inside caught him by surprise.

It should have been rest time, yet everyone was seated, and there was no sound of conversation.

On the dais, aside from the seated Clan Leader, there was a young man speaking eloquently.

That was Robert?!

The scene made this person hardly believe his eyes, and outside, the old butler Stuart’s eyes lit up.

Finally, Young Master Robert had his moment of stunning the family!

The meeting room door closed immediately thereafter.

Robert’s arrival had made the family meeting change its agenda at its conclusion and extended it by more than an hour.

After the meeting, the old butler Stuart was called by the Clan Leader to receive instructions.

Young Master Robert is to stay in the house starting today, prepare a room for him.

Make it a good room!

That alone says everything!

That evening, Caroline returned home, first entered the study to handle some matters concerning Zhenbei Group, and then had a family confidant brief her on the day’s meeting content.

Upon hearing Robert had returned to the family, her eyebrow raised slightly.

The confidant explained, ”Mr. Robert, due to certain fortuitous circumstances, connected with the Anlos Family in West Africa. The Anlos Family is currently making great strides in Oshan, and wishes to find a partner here, choosing us. Mr. Robert returned with a huge order. Besides, the Anlos Family also recommended Mr. Robert to the Hogson Family in West Africa, reportedly another major potential business deal. Both parties hope Mr. Robert can manage the liaison work here in North America, and the family meeting has already approved him to stay within the family...”

”That good-for-nothing can actually be of such use.”

Caroline couldn’t help but laugh, then frowned, ”The Anlos Family... Recently, I seemed to have read a news article, about a woman named ’Lorna’ having created quite a stir with them. Lorna, isn’t she that former thief with Robert...”

”So that’s it, indeed some amazing ’affinities’!”

”People, sometimes, really do bump into incredible luck!”
