Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2682: Chapter 1925: Rise of the Underdog

Robert’s words, full of arrogance, left his cousins dumbfounded, momentarily leaving them speechless.

Once upon a time, Robert was synonymous with being the family’s disgrace, indulging in pleasure and refusing to make any serious efforts. Even when he occasionally attempted to achieve something, it invariably ended in failure, achieving nothing at all.

Despite this, as Caroline’s brother, the family resources never ceased to support him.

Among those his age, envy, jealousy, and hatred toward Robert were rampant, but no one dared to provoke him.

They eagerly awaited Caroline’s decisive action against him, watching as Robert became like a lost dog, eventually fleeing in disgrace to West Africa.

These people could hardly express their delight, treating it as a ceaseless source of amusement.

Unexpectedly, Robert returned.

His current demeanor and aura were completely transformed from his former self, which truly shocked them, making them uncertain about the confidence he displayed.

However, when a group of cowardly dogs is together, they can still bark at a wild wolf, let alone a group of people.

The mere presence of the group itself strengthened their courage.

Robert’s cousins were not easy to deal with; timid is not an adjective that applies to them. Although Robert’s earlier display surprised them, it was only momentary.

These men began to cause trouble again.

”Pfft, what are you flaunting here? You’re just an exile sent to a remote place, a worthless handler of a tiny part of the family business! Talking about some good news, and even insisting on meeting the elders in the family, it’s laughable!”

Someone retorted to his face, regaining the upper hand in the situation.

The others ”came to their senses” too, once again engaging in rampant ridicule.

”Robert, I think you’ve lost your mind. Is it from not being able to come back, that you were somehow provoked? You’ve become shameless!”

”I think instead of meeting the Clan Leader, he should see a psychiatrist.”

”How about sharing your so-called good news with us first, and let’s see if it’s worthy of the elders’ attention, so you don’t make a fool of yourself and lose the last bit of power you have.”

”If that happens, poor Robert. But when that time comes, don’t be too upset, Robert. My company is short-handed. Though, you would have to start from the ground up, as a janitor, cleaning toilets. If you work hard, there’s a future for you. How about it?”

”Hey, that’s going too far. Maybe he really has some important good news, like a sudden surge in performance from his company, although that’s impossible. Even if it did surge, it’s like it didn’t earn much. Haha...”

Not only did these people mock him, but they also all rushed to block Robert’s path.

It seemed like Robert would have to force his way through.

But if Robert really forced his way through, these people wouldn’t hold back, possibly resorting to fists and kicks.

With a group against one person, they’d certainly beat Robert into submission.

Then they’ll all claim in unison that Robert made the first move, leaving Robert with no way to defend himself.

As for Caroline, she had already given up on her disgraced brother. There’s even a rumor that when Robert’s leg could have been saved, it was Caroline who broke it herself. This proves that there’s no sisterly affection from her.

So what else were they afraid of.

Seeing his cousins surround him with ill intent, Robert also became alert.

At this moment, someone shouted, ”Has Mr. Robert returned?!”

Everyone present instantly turned to look.

They saw a white elder, slim and skeletal, walking briskly towards them, almost running, yet maintaining complete dignity.

Robert’s cousins couldn’t help but exchange glances, curbing their earlier brazenness toward Robert.

This elder was the highly respected butler of the family, and they dared not misbehave in his presence.

While speaking, the old butler had already arrived in front of everyone, nodding amicably to Robert’s cousins, ”Gentlemen, having just finished the family meeting, how do you have leisure to chat here?”

Today wasn’t just any day; from the Clan Leader and the elders at the top, down to the younger generation managing family businesses, all had to return for the family meeting.

The only exception, the important figure not present, was Caroline.

However, with her absence, not even the Clan Leader had a word to say.

Although Caroline had caused great loss to the family after her failed campaign, her influence never waned. Soon after, she facilitated cooperation between the family and major consortiums like the Morgan Family, instantly restoring her prestige.

Not only that, she was already considered by the younger generation as the future Family Head.

Now, the family showed her limitless indulgence.

Back to the present, hearing Stuart the old butler’s inquiry, the group promptly responded.

”Mr. Stuart, we were just about to return. We saw Robert and were catching up.” Someone joked.

Another commented, ”But Robert isn’t qualified to attend today’s family meeting. By coming back today, isn’t he violating the earlier agreement?”

”Mr. Stuart, you should teach our cousin Robert about the rules; he can’t just whimsically return.”

”Indeed, and he’s making wild statements, not afraid of making a fool of himself...”

The crowd quipped in excitement.

Stuart the butler looked at Robert expressionlessly, seemingly showing dissatisfaction in his eyes.

Seeing this, the crowd immediately looked at Robert with schadenfreude.

”Mr. Stuart...”
