Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 2660: Chapter 1914: Brady’s Reluctance (Part 2)

After waiting quietly for a quarter of an hour, Mr. Brady heard a knock on his office door.

The ”guest” had arrived!

Brady stood up and walked over to open the door himself to show how much he valued this meeting.

Outside the door stood Brady’s trusted aide, and beside him, Hogson himself.

Hogson had only brought one attendant, who was clearly a trusted aide as well.

”Mr. Hogson, you’re finally here! Please, come in!” Brady showed an enthusiastic smile and gestured for Hogson to enter.

Hogson nodded with a smile and stepped into the office.

Pointing at the man Hogson had brought with him, Brady instructed his own aide, ”Take this gentleman to rest, and make sure he’s well looked after!”

The aide immediately nodded.

After giving his instructions, Brady closed the door behind him.

Facing Hogson again, Brady extended his hand warmly and shook hands with him.

”Mr. Hogson, welcome to my office as a guest!”

Hogson also smiled and nodded. ”I’m honored to be here and to have a face-to-face talk with you.”

The opening was suffused with a peaceful air, which Brady found very satisfying.

Smiling, Brady made an inviting gesture. ”Let’s sit over there and talk. I know Mr. Hogson likes Huaxia tea; I happen to have some top-grade leaves a friend gave me. Why don’t we taste them together?”

Hogson nodded and, accompanied by Brady, walked over to the sofa area.

On the coffee table there was a full set of Huaxia Kung Fu Tea ware, and the fragrance of tea was wafting through the air.

At the sight, Hogson nodded approvingly and sat down facing Brady.

Since they were tasting tea, Brady started the conversation from tea. He was also fond of it and knew quite a bit, while Hogson was even more adept.

The two of them talked for a full ten minutes, truly hitting it off.

Once the mood was set, Brady brought up the fact that both sides were going to invest in Oshan and that they would have lots of business dealings in the future and should take care of each other.

Hogson naturally expressed his agreement.

They talked for a full half hour about the direction and trends of Oshan’s commercial development.

On many points their views and opinions were very similar; as the back-and-forth continued, there was a strong sense of mutual appreciation, like heroes recognizing heroes.

Seeing that they had talked about so much, and the conversation had gone so well, Brady felt it was about time to bring in the real topic.

”Mr. Hogson, in fact, not long ago I heard a bit about what your family went through in Oshan, and I feel deeply indignant on your behalf.”

Brady said, ”That kid Alger, even if he was momentarily confused and got involved in some things, it was still out of youthful impulsiveness. When you think about it, it’s understandable. That Bai Xiaosheng is not necessarily blameless either.”

”It’s not as if your Hogson Family was trying to go after him, yet he actually made you pay a price in the business arena. That was really completely out of line!”

”Although Bai Xiaosheng and I are in the same group, in fact, he’s the one I can’t stand the most!”

”In order to curry favor with Oshan, this guy didn’t hesitate to damage my side’s interests. You know he and I belong to the same group; we’re colleagues. And he still did that! That tells you everything you need to know about what kind of person he is!”

Between the lines, Brady’s words clearly carried dissatisfaction with Bai Xiaosheng.

Hogson’s brow twitched, then his expression smoothed out. He picked up the Cup and slowly took a sip of tea.

Despite their lively chat just now, in fact Hogson had been waiting all along for Brady to reveal the real purpose of this meeting.

From the moment he entered this building, Hogson had noticed how few people there were along the way. Anyone who looked over was immediately driven off by Brady’s people, making the whole thing look extremely secretive.

Avoiding prying eyes meant there was certainly something they didn’t want others to know.

So Hogson had been waiting—for Brady to speak up.

These words from Brady immediately made Hogson understand his intention.

Who was Hogson? Like Brady, he was the head of a financial conglomerate, with a razor-sharp mind.

Brady had invited him here to deal with Bai Xiaosheng together!

Hogson raised his head and grinned, but what he said was, ”All that is in the past now. Aren’t things good at present? Our cooperation with Oshan satisfies both sides, it’s pleasant for everyone, and it will only get better.”

Seeing that when he brought up ”grudges,” Hogson tried to smooth things over with him, Brady thought he still didn’t trust him.

Brady simply spoke bluntly. ”How can that be in the past? How can we just let it go!”

”Your family lost real money in Oshan, and so did we!”

”Let me tell you something else, Mr. Hogson: Bai Xiaosheng is also bringing friends in to intervene in Oshan’s business community. That means they’ll be grabbing food from the same bowl as you and me!”

”The cake is only so big, and now it has to be shared with another party. Are you really okay with that? And you and I both know about his relationship with Oshan. If one day we end up in conflict with their side, the businesses we’ve invested real money in will be in danger!”

Brady exaggerated the risks, aiming his blade straight at Bai Xiaosheng.

Looking calmly at Brady, Hogson said, ”Then Mr. Brady, what exactly are you proposing?”

Since things had already been said to this extent, Brady didn’t mind being even more explicit.

”We should advance and retreat together to deal with the unknown risks coming from Bai Xiaosheng!” Brady said in a low, deliberate voice.

Hogson remained silent.

Brady went on, ”In fact, there is currently no conflict between your business and mine. If we join forces, it’ll be a strong alliance with only advantages and no drawbacks. At some suitable time in the future, we might even squeeze Anlos and Bai Xiaosheng’s two parties out of the game. Then the future Oshan business will be ours alone!”

As he said this, the murderous intent in Brady’s words fully emerged.

After speaking, he stared at Hogson, his gaze filled with anticipation.

Hogson seemed somewhat moved, somewhat stirred, as if on the verge of agreeing.
