Super Rich by Doing as You Please

If Victoria Harbor is a dignified woman by day, then at night, she becomes a sexy and alluring seductress.

She shows her beauty to every guest who comes to visit.

But it was still daytime.

So if Xu Yun wanted to see the true Victoria Harbor, he would have to wait until nightfall.

A short while later, Lin Wanzhou, who was staying in the adjacent room, finished getting ready and came over.

Seeing Xu Yun standing at the window and gazing out, he walked over and said, ”The view here really is beautiful.”

”Beautiful, isn’t it?”

Xu Yun smiled. ”The view is even better at night.”

”A buddy from the army used to tell me all the time that after he got out, he wanted to come see Xiangjiang if he ever got the chance.”

Lin Wanzhou sighed. ”I never thought he’d never make it, but I did.”

”Why don’t you take a picture and send it to him now? Rub it in a little?”

”No rush.”

Lin Wanzhou said, ”I’ll take a few pictures when I get back tonight. Then I’ll find a chance to burn them for him.”

”Uh...” Xu Yun trailed off.

’How is another one dead?!’

After a brief silence, he couldn’t help but ask, ”Old Lin, I have a question, but I’m not sure if I should ask.”

”Then don’t.”

”Back when you were on missions, did all your buddies get killed, leaving you as the sole survivor?”

Lin Wanzhou gave him a puzzled look. ”Why would you think that?”

”It’s hard not to.”

Xu Yun said helplessly, ”Every time you mention one of your army buddies, they’re dead. There’s not a single one who’s still alive.”

”Bullshit! I only lost a few buddies!”

Lin Wanzhou explained, exasperated, ”The reason you think that is because the ones who died are the ones I remember more clearly, more deeply. That’s why certain things trigger memories and make me reminisce.”

”Oh, so that’s why.”

Hearing this, Xu Yun smiled and breathed a sigh of relief. ”That makes sense. I was thinking, there’s no way you’re that much of a jinx, where everyone around you dies and you’re the only one left.

If that were true, I’d be a little scared to have you with me. Might have to consider finding a replacement.”

Lin Wanzhou was speechless.

”Come on, it’s lunchtime. Let’s go find our guide and have him take us to eat.”

Lin Wanzhou asked, ”Doesn’t the hotel have free food?”

His personal butler had just told him that their room came with a free breakfast. They could also eat at the Michelin-starred Western restaurant downstairs and even had a 100 USD voucher to use there.

He wasn’t exactly sure what ’Michelin-level’ entailed, but he knew it must be very high-class.

”What’s so great about Western food, anyway?”

Xu Yun said, ”If we’re going to eat, let’s go out and experience some of Hong Kong’s real local food.”

”You’re right, Western food isn’t that great. I’ve never gotten used to it.”

Xu Yun’s idea was right up Lin Wanzhou’s alley. To him, Michelin-starred or not, nothing beat a simple bowl of beef noodles from a roadside stall.

As for Xu Yun, his boss in name...

’He was discovering that Xu Yun’s mindset, ideas, and general outlook were completely different from most rich kids.’

’He didn’t have that typical air of superiority. He treated everyone in a straightforward manner and never looked down on ordinary people who were less fortunate than him.’

’He also didn’t seem to like it when people were subservient around him.’

’On the contrary, he preferred more normal, casual interactions.’

’That was why, even though they had an employer-employee relationship, he could chat so casually with Xu Yun, just like they were friends.’

’When he’d taken other rich kids on road trips in the past, it was never this relaxed.’

’They never treated him as an equal, and he was perfectly happy to just do his job, say only what was necessary, and collect his pay.’

’He wouldn’t get involved in anything else and kept conversation to a minimum, which made everyone think he was cold and aloof.’

’Honestly, if it weren’t for his professionalism, his guarantee of safety, and the reputation that people like Chen Jiang and Xi Wei had built for him, most people wouldn’t want to hire him.’

When the two of them left the room, their personal butlers were already waiting outside to remind them that it was time for lunch.

After all, they were staying in rooms that cost over a hundred thousand a night!

Lin Wanzhou wasn’t used to being doted on like this. He turned directly to his personal butler and said, ”You don’t need to worry about me for anything outside of what happens in my room.”

”Mr. Lin, have I done something to displease you?”

The butler grew flustered and quickly asked, ”Please, just tell me. I can apologize and correct my mistake.”

”No.”

Lin Wanzhou said, ”I’m a simple man, not some big boss. I’m just President Xu’s bodyguard, so just focus on taking good care of him. You don’t need to worry about me.”

The personal butler was speechless.

’She never would have imagined that a guest staying in a room that cost over a hundred thousand a night was actually just someone’s bodyguard.’

’If he hadn’t said anything, they would have assumed the two were friends.’

”Don’t listen to him. He’s my bodyguard, but he’s also my friend.”

Xu Yun smiled from the side. ”The same goes for me. Besides whatever I need inside the hotel room, you don’t have to worry about me for anything else.”

”Understood, Mr. Xu. If you need anything, just call us through room service. We’re on call 24 hours a day.”

The two personal butlers exchanged a glance, their perception of Xu Yun deepening.

’They’d seen plenty of rich people here, but they’d never seen one willing to get his bodyguard the exact same kind of suite.’

’This boss is amazing!’

After dismissing the personal butlers, Xu Yun and Lin Wanzhou swiped their key cards and took the private elevator down to the hotel lobby.

Yu Jiaming looked at Xu Yun and Lin Wanzhou, not quite understanding the situation.

’Why would they pass up a perfectly good Michelin restaurant in the hotel just to go eat at some roadside stall with him?’
