The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 446: Chapter 446: Mommy is Very Smart

Once Song Zhiyuan’s suspicion dissipated, he spoke much more casually. As for how he came up with that idea, thinking about his mother’s ferocity in farming from the past, it made sense.

He had always thought that his mother was actually quite smart, just born at the wrong time, coming to the Song Family as a child bride so early; he wondered what kind of parents could give birth to someone like her.

”But after what happened last night, mother, please don’t do it again. It scared me to death.”

Song Ci hesitated for a moment: ”I still have to do it, if I have any merits.”

Song Zhiyuan felt a pang in his heart and looked at his mother. What do you want to do, please be honest with me, otherwise, I feel uneasy and panicked.

”Our Prime Minister’s Mansion is now very wealthy, and Fourth Brother has married a Commandery Princess. Eldest Brother, my heart oh, it’s also uneasy, afraid that this prosperity might suddenly disperse.” Song Ci finally revealed a hint of fear.

Song Zhiyuan was stunned.

”I’m just thinking, accumulating these small merits one by one, in case one day there’s any wrongdoing, can they offset the crime!” Song Ci chuckled bitterly.

Song Zhiyuan’s eyes unintentionally moistened, and instinctively, he held her hand. He truly didn’t know that his mother harbored such a big concern in her heart.

”Mother, you’ve always been perceptive and understanding, including Fourth Brother’s issues. You were the one who advised me not to overthink. Overthinking will cause baldness.” Song Zhiyuan sighed, ”You understand the logic yourself; how come when it comes to yourself, you can’t see it through?”

Song Ci knew she had frightened her clever son and sighed: ”It’s not that I can’t see through it, just thinking it’s always wise to leave room for everything, keeping a few more options can’t be wrong.”

No wonder Song Zhiyuan always thought that his mother was actually very smart. Other old ladies, once enjoying such wealth, would only see wealth, especially those who rose from humble beginnings. They would wish to hold wealth tightly, unaware of the dangers lurking beneath prosperity.

Song Zhiyuan marveled at his mother’s broad vision but also felt quite unfilial, so he said: ”Mother, you’ve worked hard all your life, you shouldn’t think about these troubling matters anymore. You should just enjoy your old age in peace. If the sky falls, your son will hold it up for you!”

No wonder his mother aged so quickly; it was all due to worry and fear.

Song Ci thought, I do want to enjoy my old age peacefully, but you are my mother’s only hope!

”Alright.” Song Ci could only coax him, exhaling a long sigh of relief inwardly as she passed the test.

Song Zhiyuan also mentioned that the Emperor would send Imperial Physician Fang every other day to check on her health.

”Is that really necessary? I have Lin Qing with me!”

”It’s just because the Emperor is afraid you might have health issues that you’re hiding.”

Song Ci suddenly realized: ”So the Emperor still has some regard for us.”

”Exactly, so mother, don’t think about those unnecessary things anymore, just live comfortably.” Song Zhiyuan, thinking of her current love for tinkering with new things, added: ”If you want to tinker with anything, just go ahead.”

Song Ci teased: ”Oh, so you’re not suspicious of your mother now?”

”Mother, you’re so shrewd. How dare I suspect you? It’s just that I’m afraid you might really be hiding something.”

Song Zhiyuan was amused yet felt helpless, thinking for a moment, he said: ”Mother, I’m thinking of moving Third Brother’s position next year, transferring him back to the capital.”

Song Ci was taken aback.

Bringing that scoundrel back, won’t the mansion be unsettled?

Song Zhiyuan thought she was unhappy and said: ”Third Brother sometimes acts foolishly. I think bringing him back and supervising him personally would be better than him causing trouble behind our backs. Moreover, now that the Prince has been ennobled, this power struggle will become intense.”

Understood, he’s afraid that half-brother might stir up trouble!
