The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 427: Chapter 427: Teacher Song Comes Online

Song Ci was assisted by Madam Song to sit on the Arhat bed, feeling the warm temperature inside the room, and sighed.

Although it was somewhat unfortunate to have transmigrated to ancient times, at least she was a wealthy old lady. If she had transmigrated into a refugee waiting for porridge outside, she feared she might have just dropped dead on the spot.

”Mother, have some tea.” Madam Song diligently served a cup of tea to Song Ci.

Song Ci took the tea and glanced at her: ”Has your anger subsided?”

Madam Song felt her face heat up, sat down, and jested with a smile: ”Mother, you are teasing this daughter-in-law. You’ve eaten more salt than I’ve eaten rice, so I must learn from you.”

Song Ci chuckled lightly, neither agreeing nor disagreeing.

This eldest daughter-in-law was born noble. It would be strange if she learned from an old farm woman, which she wouldn’t take seriously.

”Today, Mother truly taught this daughter-in-law a lesson. In the past, I didn’t know you had such eloquence, such speaking skills.” Madam Song cautiously flattered.

She was truly surprised by Song Ci, seeing those disaster victims worshipping her mother-in-law as if she were the benevolent Guanyin Bodhisattva after hearing her words.

Song Ci sipped her tea, placed the cup on the brick bed table, and said, ”I’ve always been crude and ignorant, speaking straightforwardly. How can I be said to have good eloquence?”

Madam Song: ”Mother, you disparage me.”

Song Ci sighed, looked toward the door, and saw Song Ruqi approaching with some ledgers. Madam Song intended to train her, letting her oversee the porridge distribution this time.

Now, she came over with the ledgers wanting advice. Seeing the two talking, she entered, saluted them, and stood quietly without disturbing them.

Having come of age, learning household management, she had indeed progressed.

Song Ci’s perception of this spoiled granddaughter changed somewhat. Looking back at Madam Song, she said, ”Why would I disparage you for no reason, not especially wanting to incur your dislike? Birth determines perspective and knowledge, and that’s not wrong. You were born in the Marquis Mansion, enjoyed wealth, naturally seeing things differently from me, born into a farming family.”

”Mother...”

”Don’t rise to plead guilty. Always doing this just makes me tired. Let’s just chat idly.” Song Ci halted her movement to rise and said, ”What I just said, you probably can’t refute it. Birth determines the levels at which you perceive things.”

Madam Song was silent for a moment and then nodded.

”So you believe porridge distribution with fine rice is fine, gaining reputation instead of gossip. And what I think is, while gaining reputation, how to truly help the needy victims. Actually, the simplest thing is to empathize. Later, have someone serve you a bowl of coarse rice porridge to eat, and you’ll understand.”

Madam Song was taken aback.

”Guo, our Song Family has indeed prospered, but there’s no need always to place ourselves at the highest point. Lowering a bit won’t hurt. When at the highest point, if no one offers you a ladder down, what will you do? Wouldn’t you be unable to step down gracefully?” Song Ci compared the distance between the Arhat bed and the ground with her hand and said, ”A position neither high nor low, one can ascend, and also descend— isn’t that good?”

Madam Song seemed a bit dazed, lost in thought.

Song Ruqi beside her also appeared somewhat enlightened, though not entirely understanding.

Song Ci picked up the tea cup again, glanced obliquely at the two, and raised her eyebrows.

The Song Family members were clear-minded, with a higher level of seeing issues, thus fewer troubles.

Sigh, she wished to train everyone in the family to become politicians with intricate minds to avoid the nightmares in her dreams. But alas, as she herself was mediocre, she could only subtly influence, seeing how much they could comprehend.
