The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 442: Chapter 442: Emperor Chu’s Incognito Visit

Song Ci indeed didn’t stay long at the wedding feast; it was simply too noisy. As an old lady, she couldn’t handle it, so after a few bites, she went back home.

Little did she know, a revered figure had quietly descended upon her home.

Having just sat down and changed into a large gown, Song Ci took a sip of tea, and upon hearing Nanny’s report, she spat it out.

”Who, who has come?”

”The Emperor.” Nanny’s voice was very low, saying, ”The Prime Minister asked this old servant to bring you to the greenhouse to speak, secretly.”

Damn, this was like a story of Emperor Chu visiting in disguise!

Song Ci put down the teacup and stood up: ”Then let’s go.”

Nanny fetched a coat for her to wear again and even put a hood on her, carefully supporting her as they walked to the greenhouse, while holding a windproof lantern to light the way with the other hand.

Song Ci walked very slowly and carefully, inwardly ranting wildly, damn it, in this pitch-black night, to keep a secret, they’re making an old lady like me, practically blind with cataracts, walk to the greenhouse. If I fall, I will...

What will you do?

I’ll ascend to the heavens!

If I die, it’ll throw everything into chaos, and let’s see how you, the Emperor, manage this royal confidant!

This thought was absolutely brilliant!

Song Ci arrived outside the greenhouse and indeed saw a few figures vaguely inside. She steadied her heart and coughed once.

In the greenhouse, a Commander outside announced, and then they heard Emperor Chu’s voice letting her in.

Song Ci entered the greenhouse and bowed to Emperor Chu: ”This humble wife pays respects to Your Majesty.”

She hadn’t even fully bowed when Emperor Chu helped her up, saying, ”Aunt, there are no outsiders here, so no need for such formalities. It is I who have disturbed you.”

Looking at the two large hands on her arm, Song Ci felt like she was floating.

The old Emperor personally supporting me, goodness, my life is worth it!

Despite feeling like floating, she still had to say the obligatory polite words. Song Ci said, ”Your Majesty honors this old self too much, how could I be worthy of Your Majesty’s regard.”

”Let’s not speak such formalities. Aunt, this greenhouse of yours is quite uniquely built, how did you think of growing vegetables like this? You actually managed to make it work.” Emperor Chu asked with a smile.

Song Ci pointed to a spittoon in the corner of the greenhouse and said, ”It was seeing this thing that sparked the idea because with such a spittoon in a sealed place, it gets warm, so by the same principle, outside, wouldn’t it be the same?”

”So this is how this thing came about?” Emperor Chu raised an eyebrow.

Song Ci nodded and said, ”This old self is simply idle and just had a thought to tinker with it, and to my surprise, it really worked.”

”And what about the theory behind these oil papers?”

Song Ci: ”Aren’t oil papers waterproof and fireproof? With such good use, oil cloth would work too, so I had people make it. It blocks the wind and snow, keeping the ground from freezing. Once the warmth is kept, the vegetables sprout.”

Emperor Chu praised, ”Aunt, you are very capable, I am impressed. Did you not consider that this might not succeed?”

Here it comes, this question was asked well, and Teacher Song is about to come online again.

Song Ci, pretending to be profound, repeated the words she taught her grandchildren: if it doesn’t succeed, keep practicing, experience is amassed over time.

Farming is the same.

Experience is accumulated.

”Aunt, do you think such greenhouses could be promoted among the common people?”

Song Ci was stunned.

What does he mean, promoting it among the common people, wouldn’t that mean nationwide promotion, greenhouse cultivation?

Is he thinking of developing greenhouse vegetables among the population?

Are all emperors so intelligent, thinking of methods from future eras?

So am I the butterfly that flapped its wings?
