The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 408: Chapter 408: Acknowledging Relatives

Recognizing relatives is not complicated; it’s just a family recognizing each other’s faces and exchanging some gifts, and from then on, they’re one family.

Niu Pan’er wasn’t skilled in needlework, so the shoes and socks for the in-laws were naturally made by others on her behalf. She symbolically poked a few times on the embroidery needle and considered it her own work.

This is an unspoken practice in big families. Those who aren’t good at needlework basically do it this way. Otherwise, who is so skillful that they can embroider flowers?

Song Ci didn’t mind at all. In her heart, for someone she likes from the bottom of her heart, even if they’re incompetent and can’t do anything, she still likes them.

Moreover, Niu Pan’er wasn’t incompetent.

Smiling as she received the shoes and socks and praised them, Song Ci then presented her own recognition gift: a pair of golden phoenix hairpins inlaid with red and blue gemstones, a pair of jade bracelets, and a pair of old-fashioned gold rings.

The rings came in male and female styles. She personally put them on the ring fingers of Niu Pan’er and Song Zhiyu, and explained the significance of the rings.

Jiang, sitting below, glanced silently at her husband with an understanding look.

Song Zhicheng: I understand, of course I understand. I’ll take measurements and have them made later, one for you and one for me.

Madam Song also felt a bit intrigued, glancing at Song Zhiyuan with hope in her eyes.

Song Zhiyuan: ”...”

Where did my mom hear such a story? It’s so tantalizing, it’s even leading my wife astray.

Only Madam Lu had a smile on her face, but inside she felt very bitter.

Such a pair of rings was impossible for her and Song Zhiqing to each wear.

Being the sole heir of Prince Dingbei’s Mansion, Niu Pan’er had seen many good things, but what she liked most was this pair of rings, simple, classic, and meaningful.

”Thank you, Mother.” Niu Pan’er sincerely bowed in thanks.

When it was time for Old Master Song, the old man kept Song Ci’s words in mind and didn’t act pompous. He received the tea, drank it, handed over a serious gift, and said, ”May you soon expand the Song Family’s branches.”

Song Ci twitched the corner of her eye and gave the old man a fierce glare.

Song Zhiyuan and others were also speechless.

Just as they were about to smooth things over, Niu Pan’er earnestly replied, ”I understand, Father.”

Song Ci’s eyes softened, thinking to herself, where could one find such a sensible daughter-in-law? Old Four is truly lucky.

Next, when it came to Song Zhiyuan’s turn, Niu Pan’er was even more respectful.

Song Zhiyuan smiled and said, ”We are all family now, Commandery Princess, feel at ease. Old Four, now that you’re married and have your own little family, you can’t act as recklessly as before. Live well with the Commandery Princess.”

Song Zhiyu pouted but didn’t dare to retort, ”Understood.”

After meeting Madam and then seeing Song Zhicheng and Jiang, as well as Madam Lu, it was finally time to meet the younger generation.

Niu Pan’er’s prepared gifts were all good things, tailored to the personalities and preferences of each younger member.

For the young ladies, she gave hairpins or bracelets, for the boys, it was either jade pendants or the Four Treasures of the Study. Song Lingzhao even received a small bow and arrow.

”Fourth Aunt, I heard your martial arts skills are excellent and you’re brilliant in both literature and martial arts. May I seek your advice in the future?” Song Lingzhao’s eyes sparkled.

Niu Pan’er laughed, ”Of course you can, as long as I have the time.”

Song Lingzhao was immediately overjoyed.

Having met the younger generation, the last two in line were naturally the two concubines of the Old Master Song. They did not qualify for a seat, let alone to receive gifts. Being Old Master Song’s concubines, they were considered elders in a sense, and it was only polite to recognize them by face.

Niu Pan’er didn’t salute them, just nodded lightly, and had someone send them two wallets as a gesture.

Seeing that the acknowledgment was complete, Song Ci clapped her hands and said, ”Alright, now that the relative recognition is done, you were exhausted all day yesterday, and it’s another early morning today entering the palace. You two can return to Fufeng Pavilion to rest. No need to come for morning greetings these days, just eat in the courtyard.”
