The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 405: 405 Chapters Song Ci: Take gold and silver jewels to wash my eyes.

Song Ci slept well through the night and woke up early to drink tea.

”Have Si Lang and the others all gone to the palace?”

Niu Pan’er, being a Commandery Princess with rank and a marriage bestowed by the Emperor, naturally had to bring her new groom to the palace to express gratitude.

Nanny replied with a smile, ”They set off before dawn and should be back at the mansion by the end of the Chenshi hour. By then, it will be time for the recognition ceremony and serving tea.”

”I’ve prepared my recognition gifts properly, right? There shouldn’t be any mistakes?” asked Song Ci.

”Of course, you can be at ease.”

”That’s good to know.”

Curiously, Song Ci asked, ”Was there much commotion in their courtyard last night?”

Nanny was a bit exasperated, ”Madam, are you trying to eavesdrop on your son and daughter-in-law’s privacy?”

”Just asking, just asking,” Song Ci grinned awkwardly.

Poor thing, she’s an old woman, but inside she still feels like a young girl; can’t she indulge her hormones a little?

Hong You lifted the curtain and entered, bowing with a smile, ”Congratulations, Madam, the celebratory messenger has arrived.”

Song Ci paused mid-sip. What is a celebratory messenger?

Before she could clear her confusion, an old woman carrying a red box walked in, grinning as if she had found gold, singing praises, ”Congratulations and best wishes, Madam, for acquiring a fine daughter-in-law.”

Song Ci: ”...”

Her gaze fell on the red box in the old woman’s hands, sensing something amiss. A lightbulb went off in her mind, but before she could comprehend fully, the woman opened the box and presented its contents to her.

Inside the box lay a white cloth, stained with red like a blooming plum blossom.

Oh my!

Song Ci realized what this was and her hand trembled in shock, almost knocking over her teacup.

This was the ancient chastity test item.

Nanny quickly stepped forward to close the box, offering congratulations with a smile, ”Let’s set off the celebratory fireworks.”

The celebratory messenger agreed and took her leave with a smile.

Once the people left, Song Ci was still in a daze, evidently quite disturbed.

Nanny asked, ”Is Madam overjoyed to the point of silliness?”

Song Ci snapped back to her senses with an ”Ah,” not daring to admit she was disgusted. It is the ancient times after all, but seeing this thing first thing in the morning...

Honestly, she was truly perturbed.

”Go fetch the recognition gifts. I want to have another look.”

She needed to see some good things to cleanse her eyes.

Nanny, unable to do anything else, smiled and had someone bring them over.

The celebratory fireworks went off.

Thus, everyone in and around the Prime Minister’s Mansion knew that Master Song Si had taken a fine daughter-in-law because everyone understood what the fireworks symbolized.

Meanwhile, Song Zhiyu was nervously bowing to Emperor Chu alongside Niu Pan’er.

”Si Lang, there’s no need to fear me. When you were young, I even held you, and you peed all over me,” Emperor Chu said with a laugh to Song Zhiyu.

Song Zhiyu, shocked, looked up abruptly. No way, did he do something as impressive as that?

”Your Majesty is merciful. Thank you, Your Majesty, for sparing my life,” he expressed.

Emperor Chu was a bit confused, ”Why would I need to kill you?”

”You said I peed all over you, Your Majesty. You are the Emperor; I was bold to urinate on you, yet you didn’t kill me and spared my life until now. Truly, you are merciful,” Song Zhiyu said earnestly.

Niu Pan’er facepalmed: ”...”

You idiot, are you dimwitted!

Emperor Chu was momentarily taken aback before bursting into laughter, pointing at him, ”You little rascal, you sure know how to flatter.”

Song Zhiyu grinned foolishly.

”So, tell me, are you happy with the marriage to the Commandery Princess I’ve bestowed upon you?” Emperor Chu suddenly asked.
