The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 440: Chapter 440: Song Ci: Someone Actually Showed Off to Me

Song Ci and a bunch of people squeezed into the hall, laughing and watching the newlyweds bow in ceremony. After the rites were completed, they saw the bride’s appearance.

With one look, a brow raised.

They say brides are shy and delicate, with graceful beauty, but this one here must have at least three layers of powder, and red cheeks like a baboon’s butt, with lips painted bright red.

That wasn’t the scary part; it was an ancient wedding, so heavy makeup on the bride is normal. What’s not normal is the dark circles under her eyes, as if she’s been drained by a vampire, and the forced smile on her face, clearly showing dissatisfaction with this arranged marriage.

Song Ci whispered to Lu beside her, ”I bet anything, this Miss Fan is definitely unhappy.”

Lu: ”...”

She saw it too, but didn’t dare to speak much.

Many people noticed, including the Fourth Prince, Chu Hongqing, whose smile froze for a moment. He gave a deep look at Miss Fan, feeling like he swallowed a fly.

Is she still thinking about her good cousin?

Ha ha!

Once the newlyweds were sent to the bridal chamber, the guests were led to the banquet. Song Ci, with Lu’s help, took her seat.

”Madam Song.”

A lovely female voice greeted Song Ci with a bow.

Song Ci looked over, ah, the granddaughter of the old Wei family, Wei Wenyan. Her gaze settled on the woman’s headscarf. Ah yes, this girl got married as she wished at the end of October, to Wei Duanxiu.

But judging by Wei Wenyan’s radiant look, everything seems harmonious there. Perhaps that Wei really does swing both ways.

”It’s you,” Song Ci smiled faintly.

”It’s me, Madam Song. I got married, but I didn’t see you at my wedding banquet,” Wei Wenyan said with a smile.

Song Ci thought, ”Who do you think you are that I’d attend your banquet?”

”I was unwell, couldn’t attend your joyous occasion,” Song Ci replied.

Wei Wenyan said, ”That’s how it was. After getting married, my husband treats me very well and is very considerate.”

So my husband is definitely not what you call a cut-sleeve type; we’re doing just fine.

Song Ci gave her a puzzled look, thinking, ”You must be joking bragging about this to me.”

”Well, congratulations to you then,” you silly fool.

”I heard Cousin Qiuman went with her husband to take up his post, but the journey to Guangxi is far. I wonder if she’s adapting, considering it’s quite poor there.”

”Don’t worry about that. Qiuman is strong-minded. Nothing can faze her. I even heard from your grandmother that as soon as she arrived in Guangxi, she was found to be expecting. She’s probably being treated like royalty by her mother-in-law and husband now,” Song Ci said with a smile, ”I knew that child was blessed, her husband is capable, and she strives hard too.”

Wei Wenyan’s proud smile froze at the corner of her lips. She wasn’t aware of this. Since marriage, her grandmother hadn’t wanted to see her.

Was it that quickly?

Thinking about her own situation, she had been served with all kinds of herbal tonics, told they were for conditioning her body. Her mother-in-law imposed strict rules, correcting her at the slightest misstep.

The corrections were bearable, but doing it in front of everyone was humiliating.

Wei Wenyan dared not think further, saying, ”Well then, congratulations to my cousin.”

Song Ci was noncommittal.

”I need to serve my mother-in-law. Madam Song, please excuse me,” Wei Wenyan said as she saw Madam Wei approaching, quickly curtsying and excusing herself.

Song Ci watched coldly, seeing that the girl who was showing off to her moments ago now bowing her head before her mother-in-law, and couldn’t help shaking her head.

With such a husband and a scheming mother-in-law, her days won’t be easy. Misfortune is just waiting to happen!
