The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 418: Chapter 418: Go to perform 3 rituals

Song Ci kept two old farmers in the manor to help her tend to the greenhouse vegetables. After all, the investment had been made, and everyone in the manor was watching; it was a matter of reputation, so they had to produce vegetables.

The two old farmers were two brothers called Chen Da and Chen Er, and they had no objections. After all, they were helping the main family with their work, and they also wanted to see if such a planting method was feasible.

If it was feasible, they could try it themselves next year and maybe grow fresh produce to sell to the city’s nobles, which could turn into a big business.

Considering that for winter now, people only had carrots and cabbages, very monotonous. If there were something fresh, who wouldn’t want to buy it? Nobles certainly had no shortage of money.

Look, here’s someone willing to spend so much just to plant.

Once Song Ci had settled this task, she didn’t care anymore. At most, she’d stroll by later to see if anything would grow.

At this moment, she happily went with several daughters-in-law to the Gu Family to attend her great-granddaughter’s three-day washing ceremony.

The Gu Family.

Even though Song Ruqian had given birth to a daughter, in large households, the legitimate eldest son and daughter were held in high regard, so many people came to witness the three-day ceremony.

When Song Ci and her group arrived, it was the Gu Family’s Madam, Song Ruqian’s mother-in-law, who personally greeted them. Upon seeing Song Ci, she bowed in respect.

It’s no wonder that the Gu Family comes from a prominent clan with a century-old reputation. Look at this family matron; her manners and etiquette are impeccable, her bow so delicate that her skirts didn’t even move.

Song Ci smiled and said there was no need for formalities, then offered her congratulations.

The Gu Family Madam smiled, returning the sentiment with joy and warmth in her eyes, clearly genuinely pleased.

Indeed, a legitimate eldest daughter in the Gu Family is not to be compared with just anyone.

”Shall we first go to Qian’er’s room and have a chat? The three-day ceremony won’t start for a while!” the Gu Family Madam considerately suggested.

Song Madam said, ”Thank you, in-law, for coming to meet us.”

The Gu Family Madam playfully chided, ”We’re all family, why say thank you? It feels too formal. This way, please.”

She led the way and chatted with Song Ci and the others while gently holding Song Ci’s hand to guide her. When her hand touched Song Ci’s, it was warm, and she was a bit surprised.

”I see you’re all dressed quite lightly, fearing you might be cold, but your hands are warm.”

Song Ci laughed and said, ”I’m wearing a thermal woolen garment inside; it’s not bulky like a cotton-padded jacket.”

The Gu Family Madam was curious, wondering what a woolen garment was.

Song Madam timely explained and added, ”This time, I’ve also brought one for Qian’er and you, in-law. Wear it for now, and when we gather more down feathers in the manor, I’ll make one for the master and grandfather as well.”

The Gu Family Madam, who wasn’t much older than Song Madam, also loved to look stylish. Seeing how non-bulky Song Madam’s garment was, she was naturally pleased and thanked her with a smile, ”Later, I’ll have someone collect some too, and ask you for advice on how to make these.”

Song Madam looked at Song Ci, as it was her mother-in-law’s idea, and she didn’t want to overstep by making decisions. Who knew if the old lady would turn it into a business venture?

Song Ci smiled, ”You’re welcome anytime.”

The Gu Family Madam noticed and thanked her with a smile while being secretly amazed that the thermal garment was the old lady’s idea.

While they spoke, they arrived at Song Ruqian’s courtyard, where maids were already waiting and went inside to announce their arrival.

They naturally wouldn’t expect a postpartum lady to come out and greet them, so they entered on their own. Inside, it was as warm as spring, with the light fragrance of winter plum in the air, showing the thoughtfulness in the arrangements.

A handsome young nobleman stepped out from behind a screen and bowed to Song Ci and her party.

The eldest son-in-law of the Song Family, Gai Lanqing, was a gentleman, warm and gentle like jade.
