The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 407: Chapter 407: Good Things Come in Bunches, I Can Take It

After paying respects in each palace, Song Zhiyu and Niu Pan’er left the palace with their rewards and returned to the mansion.

Song Zhiyu sat in the carriage, let out a long sigh, and said, ”The palace is no fun, too many rules! Do I have to come again? That would be terrible.”

Niu Pan’er glanced at him quietly and said, ”I almost thought I was going to return to the mansion alone just now.”

Song Zhiyu, puzzled, said, ”I’m with you; how could you return alone?”

Because I was afraid you might get executed by the Emperor.

Niu Pan’er touched the wet back of her inner garment, thinking this fool might have real luck on his side. Talking like that didn’t get him punished, and the Emperor seemed quite pleased.

Ah, maybe His Majesty likes this carefree attitude.

Yes, carefree. Only then would he be at ease. Being too smart only causes worry.

Niu Pan’er lowered her eyes and smiled self-deprecatingly.

Song Zhiyu sprawled inelegantly in the carriage and said, ”Oh, I actually peed on the Emperor! I’m really something!”

Niu Pan’er’s eye twitched and she said, ”That was when you were a baby, so don’t bring up past ’heroics,’ and definitely don’t mention it in front of others.”

”Of course, I’m not stupid. I definitely need to give the Emperor face!” Song Zhiyu rolled his eyes.

Niu Pan’er couldn’t help but remind him again, ”In the future, when you enter the palace to see the Emperor, you can’t refer to yourself as I, you need to refer to yourself as your subject.”

”Even without an official title, I need to call myself subject?”

”Since you’re my husband, referred to as Commandery Princess’s husband, naturally you must call yourself subject.” Niu Pan’er chuckled and said, ”Moreover, don’t worry, in a few days, the Emperor will confer upon you a sinecure.”

”What, confer a position on me? I’m neither a scholar nor a soldier, and I can still get one?” Song Zhiyu was shocked.

”You’re neither a scholar nor a soldier, but you are the Commandery Princess’s husband. Though you’re given a position, it’s just a sinecure, a nominal one. Simply put, it’s a position where you get paid without having to do any work, just occupying a name,” Niu Pan’er explained.

Upon hearing this, Song Zhiyu was overjoyed: ”There’s such a good thing? You should have told me earlier. Oh, I love this kind of deal the most, is there only one? With such good things, I can handle ten or eight of them!”

Niu Pan’er: ”...”

She felt like she now had a big son to worry about in the future!

Song Zhiyu didn’t know his wife was looking down on him. He was just happily thinking about what position the Emperor might bestow upon him. With this position, he could hold his head high in front of Liu Fatty and the others.

Having an official position makes one an adult, haha, let’s see if they still laugh at him for marrying into the family!

Prime Minister’s Mansion.

Song Ci learned that the young couple had returned and quickly changed into festive attire to join the wedding hall from yesterday.

It was time to drink the newlyweds’ tea.

When she arrived at the wedding hall, all the main family members were already waiting. Well, who told that the new bride was a Commandery Princess of the highest rank? They had to wait.

”The Commandery Princess has to call me Dad, this life is worth it!” Old Master Song was grinning from ear to ear with joy.

The Song Family’s ancestral grave really let out green smoke.

Song Ci glanced at him and said, ”What offering did you prepare for the greeting ceremony? Since the Commandery Princess calls you Dad, you can’t be stingy, or you’ll lose face.”

Old Master Song snorted, ”Do I need you to remind me? Don’t I understand this?”

He motioned for the maid beside him to lower the tray, on it was a pair of jade pendants with double fish designs, proper and dignified.

Only then did Song Ci retract her gaze and added, ”Don’t say anything rash later, and don’t talk about women’s rules and regulations. That is a Commandery Princess, it’s not your place to lecture. Just take the tea and drink.”

Old Master Song: ”...”

This damned old lady is really getting bold!
