Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 241: Chapter 231: Going Home

Gu Yirou and Gu Yining’s father, Gu Feng, was the Lord of Huaxi City Base.

As a child, Gu Yirou was doted on by her parents and had a sweet, sheltered upbringing.

When Gu Yining was born, however, her mother experienced complications during childbirth and passed away soon after.

Growing up without a mother’s love, she only had her older sister for company.

On top of that, just as she was old enough to start forming memories, the apocalypse began.

Gu Yining and Gu Yirou saw the world in completely different ways, which explained the vast difference in their personalities.

After the apocalypse, Gu Feng proved to be a capable Lord, dedicating himself to the welfare of his people, which left him with even less time for his own daughters.

For the most part, young Gu Yining was raised entirely by her older sister.

Gu Yirou’s gentle, innocent nature gave her younger sister a great deal of strength and love.

From the moment she was imprisoned here, not a day went by that Gu Yining didn’t worry about her sister.

But she also knew that her sister was pretty, had never experienced any real hardship, and lacked the skills to handle crises. It was unlikely she would survive to the end.

So she fought hard, forcing herself to live on. Even if it meant getting injured every day, she told herself she had to survive.

Only by surviving could she one day avenge her sister.

But fate is a truly unpredictable thing. No one would have expected that the delicate Gu Yirou would not only survive but also walk out of this place alive.

The bus moved at a leisurely pace, and the little people on board were all pressed against the windows, looking outside.

Xiao Yi, however, was focused on comforting the child in her arms.

”Is that your brother?”

Xiao Yi’s eyes were nearly overflowing with love.

”He’s my son.”

As far as Xiao Yi was concerned, Tang Mo had saved her life, so she naturally answered her questions earnestly.

”His father and I met in college. We had him unexpectedly, so we decided to go through with the pregnancy. Who would have known he’d have such bad luck? The apocalypse began not long after he was born.”

’To decide to have a child while still in school... they must have been so in love.’

”If I didn’t know my son and my husband were waiting for me, I wouldn’t have survived until now.”

”Thank you, truly. I never imagined I’d not only get out alive but also be able to hold my son in my arms again.”

Tears slid from Xiao Yi’s eyes, dripping onto the little boy’s face.

A two-year-old can already sense emotions. The little boy reached out a tiny hand, trying to wipe the tears from his mother’s face.

Tang Mo remembered the numb and empty expression on Xiao Yi’s face the day she was taken away.

The Xiao Yi before her now seemed more like a real, living person, full of Life Force and feeling.

Just as the bus was about to reach Huaxi City, Tang Mo had Qi Heng order both vehicles to stop.

A moment later, Tang Mo killed Qi Heng’s two followers, then made Qi Heng get behind the wheel of the bus and drive it slowly into Huaxi City.

Driving himself to his own imprisonment. If Qi Heng were conscious enough to realize what he was doing, it’s hard to imagine how devastated he would be.

At the gate of Huaxi City Base, the bus was stopped by the guards.

The door opened, and Gu Yirou stepped off the bus with Gu Yining in tow.

Seeing her home after so long, Gu Yirou immediately burst into tears.

’I thought I’d never come home again, that I’d never see Dad again!’

”It’s the Eldest Miss and the Youngest Miss!!”

How could the guards at the gate not recognize the young ladies their entire Huaxi City Base had been mobilized to find?

An urgent call was immediately placed to the base’s main office.

When Gu Feng, who was in the middle of a meeting, heard that his daughters had returned, he tossed aside the documents in his hands and ran straight for the base gate.

”Rourou, Ningning.”

Seeing his two daughters standing before him safe and sound, Gu Feng’s eyes immediately reddened as he pulled them into a tight embrace.

It is said that a man does not cry easily, but only because he has not yet been pushed to the point of heartbreak.

His wife had passed away, leaving him with only these two daughters, whom he had cherished like the apple of his eye since they were children.

When his daughters went missing, Gu Feng felt as if a part of him had died.

He had lost a significant amount of weight over the past few months.

”Dad, I missed you so much.”

By now, Gu Yirou was a blubbering mess of tears and snot.

In contrast to Gu Feng and Gu Yirou, Gu Yining was remarkably calm, merely hugging her father’s arm quietly.

”It’s been so long. Where have you two been?”

After carefully looking over his two precious daughters and seeing they were mostly unharmed, Gu Feng finally felt his heart settle. He then began to ask where they had been.

”Dad, it’s a long story. I’m hungry. I want to eat.”

When under constant stress and tension, a person tends to ignore many of their body’s needs.

Now that they could finally relax, the stomachs of both sisters, Gu Yirou and Gu Yining, started to RUMBLE.

”We’ll eat. Let’s go home and eat.”

As the bus drove through the base’s main gate, Gu Feng saw the dozen or so children on board, as well as Qi Heng sitting in the driver’s seat.

”Qi Heng is an absolute, out-and-out villain!”

”Dad, arrest him first. We’ll explain in detail later.”

At this moment, it was Gu Yining who remained the most level-headed.

After all, Gu Feng had been in his position for a long time. Seeing the children, his missing daughters, and Qi Heng appearing alongside them, he could already piece together the general situation.

His expression turned cold, and he ordered his men to arrest Qi Heng.

At the two sisters’ request.

The dozen or so children and Xiao Yi were also given a meal. Afterward, Gu Feng arranged for them to receive thorough medical examinations and treatment.

Most of these were children who had gone missing from Huaxi City. They would later be returned to their parents.

Xiao Yi’s home was also in the city.

As for Tang Mo, the sisters insisted she join them for a meal with Gu Feng.

At the dinner table, the sisters took turns recounting their three-month ordeal, telling Gu Feng every last detail of what they had endured and witnessed in that place.

Gu Feng grew more and more horrified as he listened.

He never imagined that, despite his own strict regulations, Qi Heng would dare to commit such monstrous acts right under his nose.

He was even more horrified that his two precious daughters had come so close to losing their lives there.

Thank heavens, thank heavens both his daughters had returned safely and without any serious harm.

When both sisters described the help Tang Mo had given them, Gu Feng’s eyes were filled with gratitude as he looked at her.

”Tang Mo? Miss, are you the Tang Mo who’s number one on the Huaxia Rankings?”

Those in power had memorized every name on the Huaxia Rankings, to say nothing of the person at the very top.

”Thank you so much for helping my daughters escape from the lion’s den. I truly don’t know how I can ever repay you. And for the lives of those dozen or so children, I thank you on behalf of their parents.”

Each child is a family’s whole world. What Tang Mo saved this time wasn’t just a dozen or so children, but a dozen or so families.
