Reborn One Week Before the Apocalypse

Chapter 208: Chapter 198: Spiritual Power Fusion

Tang Mo had been on the road and in a helicopter all day. She had also gone to the squad base in Qin Ling and didn’t get back until late. Even an iron man would be exhausted after all that.

Mustering the last of her strength, she dropped her backpack. She groggily took a shower, changed her clothes, and collapsed spread-eagled onto her soft, large bed, ready to catch up on sleep.

’Huh? What’s this soft thing?’

Tang Mo felt that the texture beneath her was wrong. It wasn’t like her soft, cotton bedding.

Startled, she shot up and turned on the light. There, lying perfectly still on her bed, was Jingjing, looking like a well-behaved, white plush toy.

Its round eyes blinked as it stared at Tang Mo, its gaze filled with utter resentment.

”Momo, where did you go?”

Jingjing asked in a soft, sweet voice.

Tang Mo had up and left so suddenly that she only had time to tell Xiao Tao to inform Lin Yi, leaving no chance for a detailed explanation for Jingjing.

Poor Jingjing had been waiting for her in the room, day after day, but Tang Mo never came home. It got so anxious that even its Crystal Stones lost their appeal, and it ignored everyone who called for it.

”I went out to take care of some business—some important business. But I’m back now, aren’t I?”

Seeing Jingjing’s pouting, aggrieved expression, Tang Mo felt a pang of guilt and reached out to stroke its white fur.

Then, with a flip of her hand, she retrieved a fist-sized High-level Crystal Stone from her Space and gave it to Jingjing.

”Here, go play with this.”

She hadn’t seen it in a while, and Jingjing had grown a bit bigger. It seemed its cultivation had also improved considerably.

Jingjing’s eyes sparkled at the sight of the Crystal Stone in Tang Mo’s hand. Although it was still a little upset, it couldn’t resist the allure of a High-level Crystal Stone and finally extended a small paw.

After placating Jingjing, Tang Mo could finally lie down comfortably in bed and sleep.

Lately, Tang Mo had been exhausted both mentally and physically. She was out like a light, drifting off to sleep the moment her eyes closed.

She slept for a very long time. When Tang Mo opened her eyes again, it was already the afternoon of the next day.

She stretched lazily, having finally rested away all the fatigue from her journey, and felt much more refreshed and invigorated.

Downstairs, Lin Yi was sitting on the sofa in the first-floor hall, holding Yangyang and waiting for Tang Mo.

She had known her daughter was back since early that morning when she saw her shoes in the cabinet by the door, but she couldn’t bear to wake her. So, Lin Yi could only wait on the sofa with her son for her precious daughter to wake up on her own.

Tang Mo went down and spent a long time reassuring her mother and brother. She even spun around for Lin Yi to show that she was completely unharmed, without a single scratch, which finally put Lin Yi’s heart at ease.

After thoroughly setting her family’s minds at ease, Tang Mo took Xiao Tao and Jingjing to the training camp.

She had just acquired a new treasure. All her skills had been practiced with her Wind Breaker, but now with this axe, she would have to start training all over again.

She had named her new axe Heavenly.

At the training camp, she parted ways with Xiao Tao, found an instructor, and began her new course of study on the axe.

An axe and a sword were completely different types of weapons. A chop, a thrust, a slash—each move seemed simple, but the force required from the body was different for each one.

Using force from different positions and in different ways would make the power of the moves vary wildly.

However, Tang Mo had plenty of real combat experience, so she learned how to use the new weapon much faster than most.

She couldn’t lift Heavenly just yet, so she had to find the heaviest axe in the training camp to practice with for now.

Theoretical knowledge could only take one so far. After teaching for a while, the instructor stepped aside to watch Tang Mo practice by herself in the center of the training ground.

Tang Mo held a massive axe weighing over a hundred pounds, imagining a High-level Beast standing in the center of the training ground.

Tang Mo executed every move and stance with extreme seriousness, treating it as a real battle rather than a practice session.

At first, Tang Mo was simply swinging the axe, but she later began to unconsciously channel her spiritual power into it, unleashing even more ferocious attacks.

Although an ordinary axe could only handle so much spiritual power, the resulting attack power was not to be underestimated.

The instructors at the training camp were all seasoned and worldly-wise. The moment Tang Mo unleashed her first spiritual power-infused attack, they quickly opened the sealed door of the training ground and ducked outside.

The doors to the solo training grounds were transparent. They weren’t made of glass, but of some unknown, incredibly sturdy, High-level transparent material.

’Are you kidding me? The training facility might be sturdy, but a person’s body sure isn’t.’

The instructor stood outside the door, still shaken. If one of Tang Mo’s attacks had accidentally hit him, he would have been severely injured, if not killed.

Still, he watched Tang Mo’s every move, lost in thought.

It was the first time he had ever seen someone channel spiritual power into a weapon like that.

It wasn’t that others couldn’t think of it; it was just that it required an incredibly high level of control over one’s spiritual power. One had to be extremely precise to use it without destroying the weapon’s structure.

’This Tang Mo... her ability to learn, to create, and to control her spiritual power are all extraordinary.’

Tang Mo was now completely immersed in her spiritual power. At this moment, through the link of her spiritual power, she felt as if she and the axe in her hands had become one. She could execute any move she wished, completely under her control.

She channeled her spiritual power into it drop by drop. Because the axe in her hand was far inferior to her Wind Breaker, the amount of spiritual power she could infuse was very limited.

Tang Mo’s control over her spiritual power was extremely precise. Her spiritual power would now circle the Spiritual Light Ball in her sea of consciousness several times before she slowly forged it into an imprint and released it.

In the midst of this intense concentration, Tang Mo suddenly noticed a change in her sea of consciousness.

Due to her complete focus on her spiritual power, tiny cracks had appeared on the surface of the Spiritual Light Ball that had been sitting peacefully in her sea of consciousness. Faint golden light seeped out from within.

’Could extreme use of spiritual power trigger this Spiritual Light Ball?’

Tang Mo had always thought that the Spiritual Light Ball was a power separate from her own spiritual power—something she could borrow from, but she never imagined that the immense power within it could ever truly belong to her.

But now, the cracks on the ball gave Tang Mo hope.

She pushed her spiritual power out even more diligently, focusing all her attention on the virtual battle before her.

There was only so much spiritual power in her sea of consciousness. If she used it all up, she wouldn’t be able to use it again for a short period and would collapse into a state of utter exhaustion.

It would only slowly replenish after a long period of rest and recovery.
