The Empress Wants a Divorce Every Day

Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Not the Same Kind

Si Qi’s words were somewhat insincere; didn’t she know the temperament of her Prince? The Princess Consort was truly pitiable.

Feng Qing, however, didn’t take it to heart. To be honest, if Rong Ling sent her to Huayun Temple, she’d be quite pleased, finding an opportunity to leave would be the plan.

However, she feared that in his fury, he might just kill her on the spot; but thinking it through, Feng Qing felt that it wasn’t very likely. As long as she didn’t provoke him, she should be safe from death.

Cining Palace was extraordinarily lively, everyone attentively and cautiously conversing with the Empress Dowager at the head.

This was the most noble woman in the entire nation; not to mention them, even the Empress beside the Empress Dowager had to carefully accompany her with a smile.

Inside the grand hall, there was a joyful atmosphere.

Until the eunuch’s announcement came through: ”The Regent Queen has arrived.”

Inside the hall, the lively chatter abruptly ceased, and everyone instinctively looked toward the palace door.

Rumor had it that this eldest miss of the Feng Family, due to being cursed, was particularly timid and cowardly, with mannerisms that were exceedingly humble.

Yet unexpectedly, it was such a person who dared to switch bridal sedans at the grand wedding.

Many within the hall despised her for this act, but there was also jealousy for this Regent Queen who dared to switch sedans to enter the Regent Prince Mansion.

Even if ultimately the Prince Regent cast her aside, she was still the first main wife of the Prince Regent, which was a form of attainment, in a way.

As everyone indulged in their wild imaginations, two figures entered from outside the hall. The leading woman walked with composure, her movements were leisurely and carefree; even when entering Cining Palace to greet the Empress Dowager, she didn’t show a hint of timidity or cowardice.

Was this the eldest miss of the Feng Family? Everyone thought they were mistaken; if it weren’t for the spider mark on her face, they would have thought they had the wrong person.

Quiet discussions arose in the hall.

Feng Qing seemed as if she hadn’t heard anything, and led Si Qi; she walked up to the Empress Dowager with dignity and performed a curtsy: ”This humble wife pays respects to the Empress Dowager, and the Empress.”

The two noblewomen at the head of the grand hall simultaneously looked at Feng Qing.

The Empress Dowager’s expression was hard to read, she glanced at Feng Qing and then at the Empress Feng Yao beside her. Truth be told, if it weren’t for Feng Qing’s marriage being arranged by the late Emperor, the position of Empress wouldn’t have fallen to the Marquis Jing’an Mansion.

Her original intention was to let her familial niece assume the Empress’s position, but due to the late Emperor’s arrangement, she had no choice but to let someone from the Marquis Jing’an Mansion enter the palace as Empress.

Feng Yao, beside the Empress Dowager, gazed at the lower end where Feng Qing stood, and once again she felt bewildered; had Feng Qing been reborn too? Otherwise, after so many years of administering drugs and suppressing her, how did she suddenly change?

The Empress Dowager spoke from the top: ”Well, Regent Queen, rise.”

Given that Rong Ling hadn’t discarded this woman, the Empress Dowager wouldn’t dare offend Feng Qing; even when disciplining a dog, one must account for the owner, how could she bring discomfort to her own brother-in-law?

”Bestow a seat.”

The eunuch promptly placed a chair at the lower side of the Empress Dowager, inviting Feng Qing to sit.

Inside the grand hall, many began greeting Feng Qing, no matter their displeasure with her, or their anger at her using strategies to marry into the position of Regent Queen, they couldn’t ignore her present nobility.

Feng Qing nodded in response to those greeting her, without saying much more; she knew well that these people didn’t truly like her, it was only out of obligation due to her status that they greeted her.

She found no need to engage in false pleasantries with them, nor was there any need to offend them.

In any case, she was not one of them.
