The Empress Wants a Divorce Every Day

Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Too Hungry to Sleep

Consort Song was evidently in cahoots with Consort Jiang, so she immediately followed Consort Jiang’s lead: ”Princess Consort, have a good rest. I’m quite hungry myself, I’ll head back and have the kitchen prepare a bowl of red date yam chicken soup.”

Aunt Tong and Shu Aunt did not dare oppose Feng Qing and respectfully took their leave.

The Purple Bamboo Pavilion finally fell silent, Feng Qing gazed at her hands, swollen like steamed buns, and remained motionless for a long time.

Si Qi quickly helped her sit down and said, ”Princess Consort, please take a seat. I’ll get someone to bring some cold water so you can apply it.”

Feng Qing nodded slightly, and Si Qi immediately went to the door and instructed the young maid to fetch cold water.

Once the young maid brought the cold water, Si Qi carefully applied it to Feng Qing’s hands while lamenting, ”Princess Consort, please don’t be impulsive in the future. If the Prince really gets angry, you will suffer the consequences. Luckily, the Prince didn’t burst into fury today; otherwise, you’d be in trouble.”

Feng Qing stared at her hands, exasperation evident on her face: ”My hands have been beaten like this, and yet he wasn’t angry. What would it take for him to be truly furious?”

Si Qi glanced at Feng Qing’s hands and said, ”Princess Consort, if an ordinary person dared to make a mistake in front of the Prince, they’d be beaten to death.”

Feng Qing fell silent. Perhaps her understanding of that man had not been deep enough.

Si Qi had been with Feng Qing for some time, transitioning from initial fear and unease to calm acceptance.

To be honest, although this Princess Consort seemed indifferent, she was not truly ruthless.

This was apparent from the previous incident involving Si Hua. Si Hua was quite spirited; if the Princess Consort hadn’t spoken up, she might have truly sought her own death, but in the end, the Princess Consort intervened.

What Si Hua had done previously was indeed inappropriate. If it had been anyone else, they would have ordered her out long ago, without caring about her fate.

Si Qi and Si Hua had served Rong Ling for several years. There was genuine affection between the two; seeing Feng Qing save Si Hua’s life, Si Qi felt deep gratitude towards Feng Qing.

”Princess Consort, shall I find some medicine for you? If you don’t apply any tonight, it will surely swell even more by morning.”

Feng Qing glanced at her hands and shook her head, ”No need, later I’ll find something in the courtyard to apply.”

There are many anti-inflammatory herbs and flowers, just find something and mix it up for a poultice. If Si Hua goes out to find medicine and Rong Ling, that ruthless man, finds out, he’ll surely seek trouble.

”It’s fine, don’t worry about it, I’ll find something to use myself.”

Feng Qing said as she got up to leave, Si Qi quickly followed her, ”Princess Consort, don’t leave the Purple Bamboo Pavilion. The Prince was just angry earlier; if you go out again, he’ll get angry again.”

”I know, I’ll just wander around the Purple Bamboo Pavilion. You should go check on your dear sister. If she needs anything, find a doctor to check her legs. After kneeling all afternoon, who knows how swollen they’ve become.”

Feng Qing is very skilled in medicine, but for now, she doesn’t plan to reveal her medical abilities.

Being adept in medicine has its advantages but also many downsides, such as if someone in the Prince Mansion is poisoned or harmed, suspicion might fall on her.

Therefore, she doesn’t plan to disclose her medical skills for the time being.

As she contemplated, Feng Qing left through the main hall door, circled around the courtyard of the Purple Bamboo Pavilion, quickly gathered a handful of things, crushed them and applied the poultice, then wrapped it in cloth.

Her hands were easy to manage, but her stomach was another matter; she felt as if she were starving.

She thought falling asleep would quell the hunger, but she was too hungry to sleep.
