Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

In Huai City’s Wudu New Village, Wu Bao was buried in the garage, typing away.

’Come rain or shine, through bitter cold and scorching heat. No idle chatter in group chats, no browsing forums. Eat grass when hungry, drink tap water when thirsty. So long as I live, the typing never stops.’

’A keyboard in the dark. A guardian on the Great Wall of web fiction. The blazing flame that defies the cold, the ray of light at dawn. I offer my life and glory to the Writer’s Assistant. So it is today, and so it shall be, for all my days!’

This is—a web novelist!!!

”Wuwu~!” Wu Bao gleefully hit the Enter key—another Chapter finished.

His gaze fell upon the hundred-plus draft Chapters in his stockpile, and a worried expression crept onto his face.

’Looks like I’m still not working hard enough. During the new-book-release period, I only need to publish four thousand characters a day, but on top of that, I’m only managing to stockpile an extra ten thousand.’

’And I still have to balance my training, so I don’t have time to write more. The core issue must be my efficiency...’

’Ugh, it’s so frustrating. Even with a keyboard, I’ve found there’s a ceiling to my speed—seven thousand characters an hour, max. I can’t seem to go any faster. After all, the structure of my claws isn’t exactly a perfect match for the keyboard...’

During a bout of his periodic laziness, Wu Bao glanced toward the study.

He saw Su Mao sprawled on the desk, sleeping as if he had heatstroke. Wu Bao’s expression immediately sharpened, and he was once again filled with Energy.

’Wu Bao, oh Wu Bao, you can’t give up here.’

’Compared to Senior Su Mao, what’s this little bit of hardship I’m enduring?’

Wu Bao had heard the tale of the ”great god’s smurf account” from his fellow authors in his writing group more than once.

’Although to this day, he still doesn’t know who the smurf account belongs to or who the great god is, everyone secretly has a good idea. Who else could it be but Su Mao?’

And Wu Bao, living with Su Mao, could feel that willpower firsthand.

Su Mao’s disguise was so good that he had even fooled the family he spent every day with.

If Wu Bao hadn’t heard the stories about him, he too would have thought Su Mao was just a lazy, washed-up, middle-aged man just waiting around to die.

But Wu Bao knew that wasn’t true.

Beneath that seemingly lazy exterior burned the undying, youthful heart of a man.

’Senior! I am coming to follow in your footsteps!!!’

Wu Bao felt a rush of passion, and his typing flowed with an almost divine smoothness. Before he knew it, the small speed-tracking screen beside him broke past 8,000 characters per hour...

”Mom! Dad! We’re back!”

When a familiar voice called from outside, Wu Bao’s hands froze. Overjoyed, he scrambled out of the garage—

The first thing he saw was Su Zhi’s long-awaited smiling face.

Su Zhi waved back at him. ”Wu Bao, long time no see!”

”Wu!”

Wu Bao pounced toward him, overjoyed.

Seeing Su Zhi instinctively bend over with a hint of nervousness, Wu Bao knew the boy was afraid of catching a heavyweight. The corners of Wu Bao’s mouth curled up in a smirk.

’Thirty days a giant, thirty days a runt! Don’t you dare underestimate this Wu Bao!’

’Let me show you the results of my thirty days of Doubling training!’

Just as he was about to make contact, Wu Bao activated Doubling. His body abruptly shrank to one-tenth of its original size—making him just a little bigger than Yu Bao.

He heard Su Zhi’s surprised but slightly strained voice from above. ”Wu Bao, you’ve mastered Doubling?”

”Wuwu!” Wu Bao wriggled happily in his arms.

Then he sensed something was off. ’Why does Su Zhi sound like he’s about to die?’

Curious, Wu Bao looked up and saw Su Zhi’s face, which had turned the color of liver as he struggled to maintain a smile.

”That’s great... but it seems Doubling... doesn’t really change... your weight... huh...”

”Wuwu!” Wu Bao froze for a moment, then quickly scrambled off Su Zhi, looking embarrassed.

”Cheers!”

At noon, the family held a grand picnic on the neighborhood lawn. Wang Sujuan had also invited Shao Ya to join them.

A dazzling spread of delicious dishes covered the ground, their tempting aroma filling the air. The three Pet Beasts had originally planned to bond with the parents first, but they ended up just gorging themselves. The food was simply too good.

The newcomer, Xiaolan, was also warmly welcomed by everyone.

They had thought the Ocean Pet Beast would need some time to adjust, but she fit in surprisingly well. She started eating the moment she got to the table, and her gusto even earned a nod of approval from Su Zhi’s three ”treasures.”

Xiaoyue, on the other hand, watched his newly assimilated ”little sister” with a look of utter despair, choosing to remain a quiet, handsome boy.

Su Zhi and Shao Ya also ate with gusto. Their journey back involved a flight and a high-speed train transfer, which took them a few hours.

It had been an exhausting trip, even though they hadn’t done a thing.

To be honest, the hotel in Pearl Harbor was excellent. In addition to local specialties, it even served delicacies from all the country’s major cuisines so that the competitors could enjoy an authentic taste of home.

But for kids away from home, the true taste of home would always be a meal cooked by their parents’ own hands.

”Slow down, no one’s going to steal it from you. Look at how polite Xiaoya is.”

”???” Su Zhi protested. ”She just snatched two pieces of meat from me!”

”Alright, alright, I’ll give it back to Su Baby~”

”Hey, hey! Who’s gonna eat something that’s already been in your bowl...?”

Su Zhi stopped mid-sentence. He couldn’t exactly put the meat back, so he could only force a smile and tearfully eat the pieces Shao Ya had returned.

Su Mao and Wang Sujuan watched the two of them with fond, doting smiles.

Shao Ya tilted her head, looking the very picture of a well-behaved and proper lady.

The family chatted as they ate, the topic naturally turning to the training camp and the team competition.

In fact, thanks to the livestream, Su Mao and Wang Sujuan already knew that Su Zhi had led his team to win the championship in the selection tournament yesterday.

They were naturally happy and proud, but as parents, hearing the details from their own son was what truly mattered.

”That’s great! Looks like that Liu Yuhang kid has finally had a stroke of good fortune. I predicted it at the last parent-teacher conference—don’t let his inexperience fool you, I said. Once he has a breakthrough, he’ll be amazing!”
