Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

Following a tactical error by Su Zhi and Shan Bao, the third round ended in a loss for the ”Su Zhi and His Friends Team.”

The Vast and Mighty Team, who had a rough start, scored two consecutive points, pushing the match to match point.

The murmur in the stands swelled like a rising tide...

”The fourth round already? I can’t believe Su Zhi just threw the game like that.”

”Fuck, I bought this damn ticket just for Su Zhi! How could you do this to me? I want my fucking money back!”

”Is Su Zhi even any good? You don’t think he’s getting paid to throw the match, do you? Look at that Wave-Riding Duck’s Beast Tamer, he’s full of spirit! Now look at Su Zhi. They’re worlds apart.”

”Su Zhi doesn’t even look like he’s taking it seriously. It’s some seriously bad luck to get a guy like that on your team in a group match, and he’s the captain, no less... Tsk tsk, if you know, you know.”

”Ha, at least he has some self-awareness. He knows he’s not good enough, so he gave the opening spot to a more suitable teammate.”

”A little, but not much. If I were Su Zhi, I’d have just put myself in the third position and let the second-strongest player take the second spot. They could have wrapped it up in three rounds, right? Then he wouldn’t have dragged his teammates down at all.”

”How could they have wrapped it up in three rounds... You think the guys from Shanda University Affiliated School are made of paper or something?”

”Leaving the facts aside, Su Zhi probably put himself in the second spot because he wanted to be the grand finale, sweep Shanda University Affiliated School three-to-zero, and really show off. But he screwed up in the second round and just threw the game, ending up screwing over his own team instead.”

”Amazing, just amazing. ’Leaving the facts aside,’ your analysis is truly flawless!”

”Alright, alright, forget about Su Zhi, everyone! The fourth round is about to start! Let’s watch the match!”

After Su Zhi’s loss, the doubts from the audience never ceased. Some people even went to raid his personal social media account... But the guy probably has connections; his account was actually protected by a Divine Strategy Alliance firewall, so the raid failed.

But one thing remained true—the audience rarely pays attention to a match that’s already over, nor do they give the loser much thought.

When new competitors took the stage, the public’s gaze followed the spotlight.

”The fourth round! From the Su Zhi and His Friends Team: Shao Ya and Katie, versus the Vast and Mighty Team: Wang Haokun and You Bin!”

The host’s professionalism might have been questionable, but his voice was full of energy. A few members of the audience quickly stopped arguing and settled down to watch the match.

After all, they’d already bought the tickets, right?

’The two girls fighting for Huai City are pretty easy on the eyes, anyway. It’s not a loss to stare at them for a bit longer. Why keep dwelling on that fucking idiot Su Zhi?’

”Two girls? Is the other team hoping we’ll feel bad about going all out and lose on purpose?”

You Bin, who had entered the stage with Wang Haokun, quipped with a light chuckle.

In the practice match, he had been Shanda University Affiliated School’s first-position player, and his opponent at the time was Liu Yuhang. Although that match ended in a narrow victory for him, You Bin still genuinely respected Liu Yuhang as a rival.

But others on the team often joked that he was a better match for Su Zhi in a love-hate relationship—one name sounded like ”resin,” the other like ”oil pancake.” What a pair... add Brother Kun to the mix, and the ”courthouse drama” buff was fully stacked.

”A tough job for you two.”

During the handshake, Wang Haokun said lightly, ”You’re girls, yet you’re being sent out in a hurry because of the cowardice of the boys on your team. Regardless of the outcome of this match, I respect you both.”

Katie blinked. ”Are you saying girls aren’t as good as guys? Careful what you say, buddy, or you might get called out online~”

”...” Wang Haokun’s mouth twitched, but he quickly composed himself and looked at Shao Ya.

”So, I’d like to know, what was Su Zhi’s intention in sending you two out? Of course, this involves team strategy, so if you don’t want to say, I won’t force you.”

Shao Ya smiled. ”You really want to know~?”

Wang Haokun paused, then nodded.

”Then come a little closer, and I’ll tell you~”

Wang Haokun leaned his head in.

Shao Ya’s eyes narrowed. ”The intention, of course—is to crush you.”

Wang Haokun’s eyes shot wide open, meeting the girl’s azure blue pupils directly.

They were no longer gentle and soft like water but had instantly become as sharp as broken glass, and her stare made his skin crawl.

”We’re fighting not because of our teammates’ cowardice, but because everyone trusts us. My teammates are the best in the world, and Shanda University Affiliated School has no right to judge them.

”I’ll return the same words to you. Regardless of whether you win or lose, we will respect you both.”

With that, Shao Ya and Katie turned and walked away.

As they entered the command booth together, Katie snickered. ”Xiaoya, you were so cool just now, fiercely defending your man~”

Shao Ya quickly gave her a light punch. ”Bullshit! Those words were so cringey... I almost burst out laughing!”

”And then you’d get so embarrassed you turn into a steam engine?”

”Oh, shut up...”

On the other side, Wang Haokun and You Bin also walked to their command booth in silence.

”Brother Kun, you don’t look very relaxed.”

You Bin’s carefree expression also vanished. ”Is this match not going to be a sure thing?”

”...Hard to say.” Wang Haokun swallowed, his gaze heavy.

”The look she just gave me... was the look of someone who has to win, no matter what.”

’Su Zhi isn’t playing in this doubles match... but I don’t feel any more relaxed than when I was facing him. In fact, my gut tells me this round will be even tougher than the last one.’

The Pet Beast summoning phase began.

Four tender-green Light Arrays lit up in unison, and the Pet Beasts from both sides appeared one by one—

Bilang and Xiaoyue stood skillfully side-by-side. They had paired up for doubles a few times in the past few days’ matches and had already developed a basic synergy.

Across the arena, Wang Haokun had summoned both Cyan and Grey Gu, while You Bin sent out the Cyan Feathered Falcon he had used against Liu Yuhang.

”CAW!” Seeing the Turbulent Duck on the other side, the Cyan Feathered Falcon flinched, recalling some unpleasant memories.

You Bin soothed it, ”Relax, Ah You. Not all Hao Waterfowl are masters of close combat.”
