Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

Seeing the impatient little guy beside him, Su Zhi chuckled lightly. ”Master Yu is about to officially begin his ascent!”

”WOOF WOOF!” Yu Bao excitedly chased its tail on the spot.

’Now, I can finally leave Wu Bao in the dust!’

’That insignificant Wu Bao is only fit to eat my dust!’

”Don’t underestimate Wu Bao, though. He might have changed a lot by the time we get back.”

Su Zhi reminded him, his hands already busy booking the tickets.

Speaking of which, the scenery over at Hundred Rivers was quite nice, and the Sichuan cuisine was very unique. During the summer camp, Selena had mentioned some things about finding joy amidst hardship, like eating water-boiled pork slices with the locals after disaster relief efforts.

It was a magical land where disaster and magnificent scenery coexisted.

’So, this is basically like taking a side trip, right? Sounds pretty good.’

’I’ll talk it over with her then...’

Lost in thought, Su Zhi and Yu Bao fell asleep in the room. Only then did the ever-energetic, object-ramming Shan Bao quiet down and close its eyes to sleep.

The night passed without a word.

「The next afternoon—」

The Pearl Harbor Battle Hall was packed with spectators; there wasn’t an empty seat in the house. Today was the finals of the selection tournament, and there were more people here to watch live than in the previous three days combined.

Even though both teams had already secured their spots in the national team tournament in a few days, the competitive tension hadn’t diminished in the slightest. In fact, it had grown even more intense.

This was a match between two teams, but it was also a clash between two cities.

One was the uncrowned king aiming for the championship; the other was the top academy firmly holding the leading position. Both sides were fired up and determined to defeat the other.

[Finals: Su Zhi and His Friends vs. Vast and Mighty]

”It’s about to start!”

”Seriously, I laugh every time I see that guy Su Zhi’s team name. He’s such a troll!”

”You’re right, but ’Su Zhi and His Friends’ is simple and unadorned, much like the city of Huai City itself. It seems ordinary, yet it leaves a lasting impression. On the other hand, by putting friendship in the team name, Su Zhi is highlighting the genuine emotional bond he has with his teammates.”

”Damn, you must’ve gotten a perfect score on your college entrance exam’s reading comprehension section, huh?”

”This is the finals! I feel like Su Zhi’s team has been holding back this whole time. Now they’re finally going to show their true strength!”

”Bro, I don’t think they were holding back. I think that’s just their skill level. Didn’t you see that substitute they hired went up to fight? His performance was just okay. Serviceable, I guess, but nothing spectacular.”

”Dude, an Iron Birch Mantis and a Turbulent Duck aren’t spectacular? You can’t compare everyone to Chen Xinghao!”

”Speaking of which, Chen Xinghao’s Beast Taming Space is already Tier Three, but we’ve never seen him summon a second pet...”

Someone mentioned it, and the nearby spectators all turned to look at Chen Xinghao with a hint of anticipation.

At that moment, as the host made his announcements, the first singles competitors from both sides took the stage.

”First match of the selection tournament finals! From Su Zhi and His Friends Team, Liu Yuhang, versus from the Vast and Mighty Team, Chen Xinghao!”

”Go, Class Rep!”

”Brother Yuhang, the man I look up to! Unleash your true self!”

”Go, Liu Yuhang!”

Amidst the enthusiastic cheers of his teammates, Liu Yuhang took a deep breath and walked onto the arena. However, judging by his trembling fists, the Class Rep was still a little nervous.

”Quack!” Xue Li’s encouraging voice came from the Beast Taming Space.

Even though she had evolved into the legendary Wave-Riding Duck, her voice was still delicate and pleasant.

”Yeah, thanks. We can definitely do it this time!” Liu Yuhang exhaled and smiled faintly.

Then, as if remembering something, he turned his head, and his gaze landed right on the baby-faced girl on his team.

Katiebelle winked her right eye.

*Gulp*... Liu Yuhang quickly turned his head back, an uncontrollable blush creeping up his face.

’Damn it, how can she be so cute just by winking!?’

But even though he was blushing, Liu Yuhang was no longer trembling with nervousness.

A question mark slowly appeared over Chen Xinghao’s head. ”You got a problem?”

Liu Yuhang: ”No, no problem.”

Chen Xinghao: ”...You’d better not.”

From his perspective, Liu Yuhang had blushed the moment he saw him, and he even looked a little nervous...

’This guy probably has some weird fetish. Better not get too close. Dammit, none of Su Zhi’s teammates are normal.’

After sizing up Liu Yuhang for a moment, Chen Xinghao laughed loudly and looked towards Su Zhi in the waiting area.

”Hey, Su Zhi! Sending this weakling out for the first singles match again? I thought you’d be a worthy opponent, but it turns out you’re just a coward!”

Su Zhi kept his hands in his pockets. ”Yeah, yeah, whatever.”

Chen Xinghao: ”...”

’Whatever.’ The moment Su Zhi chose to send out Liu Yuhang, he had already locked in his victory for the first match!

Sure enough, the next second, the commentator announced, ”Given that both Pet Beasts possess the Water Attribute, to allow the competitors to perform at their best, the venue for this match will be changed to the Ocean Arena. The big screen will broadcast it live shortly.”

Liu Yuhang had clearly been notified by the commentator before the match, as he didn’t look surprised.

A Close-Range Teleportation Array lit up on the command platforms. The two competitors vanished, and in the next moment, the scene on the big screen was already a view of the coastal sea.

The command platforms for the underwater arena were half above the sea’s surface and half below. The overall design resembled a lighthouse, with a room featuring a ring of panoramic glass for the Beast Tamers to observe and command from.

Liu Yuhang and Chen Xinghao appeared in their respective command platforms, looking at each other across the deep, dark ocean.

Underwater drones, positioned around the area in advance, powered on and began filming from a relatively safe distance from the arena.

”Both sides may now summon their Pet Beasts,” the referee’s voice echoed in the command platforms.

The corner of Chen Xinghao’s mouth lifted slightly as a light green Beast Taming Light Array lit up in the water not far from his command platform.

A majestic, enormous Giant Beast slowly swam out of the Light Array, letting out a tremendously powerful dragon’s roar!

The nearby fish were instantly frightened and scattered in all directions, especially daring not to meet its deep blue eyes.

The Beast Tamer’s dedicated device detected the Energy and its screen automatically lit up—

[Pet Beast: Haiya (Storm Fish Dragon)

Attribute: Water Element, Wind Element

Race: Low Level Commander

Real-time Energy Value: 3250]

”Holy shit! He even has a Storm Fish Dragon!”

”Now I remember! There was news a few days ago about humans establishing diplomatic relations with the Fish Dragon Race! It was trending!”

”To be able to form a contract with one right after relations were established... this rich kid must have some connections to get one of the first contract slots...”

”What’s the point of fighting? Just forfeit.”

Haiya made a show of force underwater before slowly surfacing.

In his command platform, Chen Xinghao was completely relaxed, even sitting down directly in his chair.

”Haiya, the opponent should be a Hao Waterfowl or a Turbulent Duck. You can handle that, right?” Chen Xinghao confirmed through the Beast Taming Space.

”ROAR.” Haiya’s confident reply came from the Beast Taming Space.

’Rest assured, my Lord. We of the Fish Dragon Race rule the oceans; all underwater Exotic Beasts pale at the mention of our name. A mere Turbulent Duck is not even worth mentioning!’

The next moment, a silver Beast Taming Light Array lit up in the water nearby.

’It’s not even Tier Three, which means his current Main Pet isn’t all that great...’ Chen Xinghao smiled faintly, feeling like he had already won 90% of the battle.

Then he saw the figure swimming out of the Light Array, and his smile froze.

[Pet Beast: Xue Li (Wave-Riding Duck)

Attribute: Water Element, Wind Element

Race: Low Level Commander

Real-time Energy Value: 3790]

Haiya froze completely.

’Isn’t that the one the Clan Leader personally received...’

’HOLY SHIT!!!’

”Both Pet Beasts are in position. The match begins!”

”ROAR!”

The moment the match began, Haiya kicked up a massive, imposing wave that instantly engulfed the entire area where Xue Li was!!!

And then... it turned and fled.

The great wave receded. Xue Li yawned as if nothing had happened, not a single drop of water on her.

”Quack.”

’Is that all? Have you not eaten? You’re a far cry from your Clan Leader.’

’Let me show you how it’s done...’

”!!!” The Fish Dragon turned back in a panic. The sea surface behind it was rising hundreds of meters into the air out of nowhere, like a spring onion being pulled from dry earth.

”QAQ AWOOOO!”

’Big Sis Duck, no!’

”BOOM!!!”

A colossal wave, faintly visible even from outer space, crashed down violently, making the entire sea region tremble for a moment. A few waterproof drones that couldn’t retreat in time were also hit and instantly destroyed.

The tide receded... Haiya floated slowly to the surface, belly-up like a salted fish.
