Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

Constitution: 3.43 -> 3.58

Perception: 1.02

[Real-time Energy Value: 2630]

”Chirp!” A Golden Light flared around Shan Bao’s body, signaling the completion of the process.

Su Zhi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. ”You’re just allocating Points. There’s no need to activate Immortal True Gold for special effects...”

”Woof woof.” Yu Bao shook his head beside them, looking exactly like a test proctor who couldn’t stop sighing at the students.

’You youngsters just don’t understand the fundamental principles.’

’That’s not how you allocate Points. Listen to me, Perception is the meta...’

Su Zhi folded his arms. ”But Shan Bao can already nullify almost all of your offensive Skills. Even your Furious Sand Blade, enhanced by the Thick Earth Blessing, can’t break her defense. Master Yu, what do you have to say about your own lackluster performance?”

”Woof... Woof!”

Yu Bao’s face flushed red.

’That was me *assisting* with Shan Bao’s training! Can assisting with training... be called a lackluster performance?’

’Besides, my trump card now is the Burning Sand Blade! Shan Bao definitely can’t take that one.’

”Chirp!” Shan Bao perked up at that, eager to try and take the hit.

”Master Yu, why not give it a shot?” Su Zhi egged them on, thoroughly enjoying the show.

He had come downstairs specifically to allocate Points, precisely because he wanted to see the results afterward.

”Woof...” But Yu Bao took two tactical steps back.

’He’d already talked a big game. If Shan Bao actually managed to block it, wouldn’t that be a huge joke...’

’This isn’t a foolproof plan. I need to allocate my Points first!’

”Hilarious...” Su Zhi, again not knowing whether to laugh or cry, had no choice but to ruffle Yu Bao’s head.

’He had to admit, ruffling Yu Bao’s head was more satisfying. Shan Bao was just a tiny little thing, and petting her was a one-handed job, which inevitably created a strange sense of déjà vu...’

[Pet Beast: Yu Bao (Yu Dian Farm Dog)

Power: 1.30

Agility: 2.26

Intelligence: 3.00 -> 3.14

Constitution: 1.42

Perception: 3.49 -> 3.70]

[Real-time Energy Value: 5321]

As Yu Bao requested, Su Zhi added 0.21 to Perception to round it out. The remaining 0.14 went to Intelligence, bringing it to exactly 3.14, the value of pi.

”How is it?”

”Woof woof.” Yu Bao opened his eyes, a satisfied expression on his face.

’As expected of a Wise One. Even the distribution of my Points is full of coincidental and mathematical beauty.’

The Points transformed into a mystical Energy, flowing into the meridians throughout Yu Bao’s body.

His Perception Power toward the Elements had risen by a huge margin, reaching an unprecedented level.

It was as if every speck of dust around him was an extension of his own body; sensing and manipulating them felt completely natural!

Su Zhi folded his arms. ”...In human terms, please.”

”Woof.” Yu Bao snapped his fingers.

The floor tiles near the ground instantly transformed into sand and soil, which began to pulse rhythmically under Yu Bao’s control—sometimes gathering, sometimes scattering, sometimes solidifying, sometimes flowing...

Su Zhi’s mouth fell slightly open.

While Yu Bao had been able to convert the surrounding Earth Element with his Earth Force Field before, it had never been this silky smooth.

’Looks like that last allocation of Points helped Yu Bao cross some kind of qualitative threshold, causing his Elemental Perception and Control to take a small leap forward...’

”Woof!”

As Master Yu adjusted his sunglasses, a small statue slowly emerged from the swirling debris and landed in Su Zhi’s hand.

Su Zhi’s mouth opened even wider, his eyes crinkling as he examined the statue.

It was a sculpture of Shao Ya, recognizable at a glance. Even without her most identifiable features—the white hair and blue eyes—that mischievous, winking smile was an expression unique to her.

The clothes and figure were also perfect. Despite being carved from floor tiles, it didn’t look clumsy in the slightest. The way her long hair and short skirt seemed to be in motion even gave it a sense of vitality.

Su Zhi turned the statue upside down, hoping to find some... indescribable details.

”Woof.” Yu Bao indicated that he was a gentleman and righteously condemned Su Zhi’s actions.

”Oh, right, right, right.” Su Zhi nodded, put the statue away, and the two scoundrels shared a knowing smile.

”WHOOSH!”

Immediately after, under Yu Bao’s control, a cloud of sand and dust shot straight up from the ground.

If the mischievous little craft project had merely piqued Su Zhi’s interest, the current scene left him utterly shocked:

The pulsing Earth Force Field instantly transformed into a Quicksand Shield, which shot off the ground like a bolt of lightning.

In mid-air, the Quicksand Shield transitioned silky-smooth into several Furious Sand Blades, each one dancing and circling as if seeking an enemy.

Finally, the Furious Sand Blades converged, morphing into a Sand Shadow Guard that looked exactly like Yu Bao before landing on the ground.

The remaining sand quickly reassembled and integrated, repairing the ravaged ground until it was as good as new—in fact, it looked even newer than the surrounding area, making the security guard who was about to come over and write a ticket hesitate.

”Woof.” Yu Bao lifted his chin, his face practically begging for praise.

Su Zhi was too stunned to even know how to praise him.

Just now, Yu Bao had only activated his Earth Force Field once, yet he had demonstrated four different Skills. The previously separate Skills could now be switched between seamlessly!

This was a far more terrifying level of progress than simply learning a new Skill.

In battle, such fluid skill-switching could instantly change the rhythm of offense and defense. For example, if an opponent saw Yu Bao use Quicksand Shield, they might think it was safe to launch an all-out attack, only for Yu Bao to counter by instantly changing it into a Furious Sand Blade and catching them completely off guard.

Or another example: an opponent sees Yu Bao’s Furious Sand Blade and hastily defends, but Yu Bao switches to Quicksand Shield in mid-air. Once the opponent adjusts their skills to defend against the shield, Yu Bao switches back to Furious Sand Blade...

Combined with Yu Bao’s mischievous mind... this guy’s ability to mess with people’s heads was probably going to jump several levels.

Even though he had just finished allocating the Points, Su Zhi could already imagine countless epic scenarios.

”Woof.” Sensing Su Zhi’s train of thought, Yu Bao put on an innocent, harmless expression and blinked.

’What bad thoughts could a good boy like me possibly have?’

”Oh, give me a break. You’re the one with the most bad thoughts...” Su Zhi waved his hand, exasperated. ”So, did any of your Skills undergo a qualitative change?”

Yu Bao shook his head.

’His current Skills were already approaching perfection. Even with his genius, it would be difficult to improve them further.’

’Now that I’ve added so many Points, I need to strike while the iron is hot and figure out some new Skills...’

Su Zhi nodded thoughtfully, then folded his arms. ”Got it. ’Approaching perfection’ means you can’t even break through Shan Bao’s defense.”

”Woof woof woof!”

Yu Bao grew anxious, circling Su Zhi and spouting a stream of incomprehensible jargon like ”Critical Value” and ”skill characteristics.”

Su Zhi shot a mischievous grin at Shan Bao. ”See? I hit a nerve.”

”Woof...” Yu Bao stopped, his expression solemn.

’There was no point in arguing. He would let Shan Bao witness his ultimate attack. He would show her who the number one Pet Beast on the team really was!’

”Chirp!” Hearing that she was about to get hit, Shan Bao excitedly ran to a spot nearby and stood ready.

’He just finished allocating his Points and he’s already eager to come beat me up. Big Brother Yu Bao really dotes on me!’

”WHOOSH...” Amidst a howling vortex of sand glittering with Golden Light, a sharp-looking Furious Sand Blade slowly took shape.

Flames danced around the blade’s edge, then compressed further under Yu Bao’s control until they formed a thin, glowing line covering the cutting edge.

With furious sand as the blade and raging fire as the edge, the enhancement from the Thick Earth Blessing made it all but invincible.

This was Yu Bao’s strongest single-target Skill at his current stage, the final, advanced version of Furious Sand Blade—the Burning Sand Blade!

”Yu Bao, be careful with your power...” Su Zhi couldn’t help but break out in a cold sweat.

Although this Skill hadn’t undergone a qualitative change, after the new Points were added, the sense of danger it emanated was on a completely different level.

Fortunately, Yu Bao’s control over his Skills was master-class. Given the level of proficiency he’d just shown by seamlessly switching Skills, he could stop the attack at any moment. Su Zhi wasn’t worried about Shan Bao getting hurt.

”Chirp!” Shan Bao was ready, too.

She activated Hardening, Immortal True Gold, and Super Heavy Gold Fall all at once, putting up her strongest defense.

”BANG!”

A stream of crimson and gold light collided. Flame, sand, and Golden Light erupted together in a dazzling and shocking display, like a firework.

”Are you okay?” As the sand and Fire dissipated, Su Zhi rushed to check on Shan Bao.

”Chirp!” Shan Bao had turned into a sooty, roasted chicken, but thankfully, she was uninjured and still bouncing around energetically.

Su Zhi looked pleasantly surprised. ”You really blocked Yu Bao’s Burning Sand Blade?”

”Chirp chirp.” Shan Bao shook her head.

’It actually hurt a little when it hit her, so she instinctively dodged, and the Burning Sand Blade just grazed past.’

”Woof.” Yu Bao shrugged.

’Shan Bao is so tiny, her surface area is too small. The Burning Sand Blade slipped and flew off; there’s nothing I can do about it...’

’Oh, well. Let’s just call it a draw.’

”Why do I get the feeling you were actually hoping for this outcome...” Su Zhi ruffled Yu Bao’s head, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

Although they hadn’t determined who was stronger, Su Zhi was still quite happy. Didn’t this just mean Shan Bao had a high ricochet rate?

’Tsk, it would be even better if she could learn a Skill like Perfect Block. Then she could deflect even unblockable attacks, and Shan Bao would level up into a bulletproof chicken...’

As Su Zhi was pondering this, his phone vibrated. It was Shao Ya, telling him to come back and rest.

Su Zhi replied with an ”okay” and called his two Pet Beasts to head back, but just as they were about to enter the hotel, a strange figure blocked their path.

”Contestant Su Zhi, please wait! I’ve been waiting for you for a long time~!”

”Huh? And you are?”
