Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Fran’s response was only a stopgap measure; in fact, faced with this sudden Demon Spirit raid, Yanjing really had been caught off guard.

But still, same old story: the Third District cannot be destroyed. The Demon Spirits’ little scheme is only adding some trouble to the tiered battle ground; it’s not minor, but it truly can’t affect the overall situation.

After issuing his orders, Fran shifted his attention back to the Sequence Member-Ranking Battle. Yet when his gaze swept over the live broadcast on the Exchange Stone Pillar beside him, he discovered that the original arena had already been dismantled; Wen Yu and Tang Haofei were long gone, replaced by a battle between Sequence Number 98 and Sequence Number 83.

He then looked at the current sequence ranking.

Wen Yu, Sequence Number 1—five big characters jumped into his view.

The result was as expected.

But as for the process, Fran simply couldn’t guess it no matter what…

The truth was, the course of battle between the two, let alone Fran, even Tang Haofei, and even the Dominator couldn’t have guessed it!

…

Time goes back to just now.

Wen Yu and Tang Haofei naturally had no idea the Third District’s defense line had been breached; they just stared at each other, until Old Tang unleashed his ultimate Deadly Weapon!

Profound power spread out from Tang Haofei’s body, and soon, a massive phantom scale appeared above the two.

The Strength Balance Scale had already activated; its appearance was almost identical to the Soul Balance Scale.

“Be careful…”

Old Tang kindly gave Wen Yu this reminder, and then he saw a slow smile spread across Wen Yu’s face.

“This kind of skill is not meant to be used the way you’re using it.”

“And also… I’m sorry…”

As soon as the words fell, Tang Haofei’s expression suddenly changed drastically!

…

Status Skills can be actively canceled according to the host’s will…

For example, Truth and Illusion. Reality Shift.

Based on Wen Yu’s research into the Soul Balance Scale, he discovered that at the instant the Soul Balance Scale activates, there is in fact a certain degree of delay.

In other words, from activation of the Soul Balance Scale to the moment it drags the two people to be balanced onto the scale, this process grants the two a window to react—an extremely tiny one.

So tiny that Wen Yu could only do two things!

Photosynthetic Spirit Motifs activated—instantly erased all injuries on his body, and at the same time completely offset the amplification brought by Ultra Mortal Combat…

His strength began to drop, while beside Tang Haofei, the profound power from the Strength Balance Scale had already risen to its peak!

Right after that, Wen Yu canceled all the augmented effects the Dream becomes Reality Skill System was providing him…

Two simple actions—or rather, just two thoughts from Wen Yu—and the Strength Balance Scale’s effect had already taken hold. The timing was fast down to the hair’s breadth, but relying on his mastery over the Soul Balance Scale, Wen Yu still managed to complete what he wanted to do before the Strength Balance Scale fully took effect.

Magnificent power instantly wrapped around Tang Haofei and Wen Yu, neatly dragging the two to each end of the scale; a Tremendous Strength locked them firmly in place, and they could only wait, like piglets, for the Strength Balance Scale’s judgment!

But at this moment, the two men’s feelings were completely opposite…

Tang Haofei, face pale, stared at Wen Yu, while Wen Yu simply shook his head slightly at Tang Haofei.

“I’m sorry, this is just tactics. Don’t blame me…”

His voice transmission entered Tang Haofei’s mind; Old Tang opened his mouth, but was utterly unable to say anything more.

“You knew long ago, didn’t you?”

“You mean this skill, Strength Balance Scale? That’s right, I’ve known for a long time…”

Victor’s Night Eyes can detect the target unit’s Power Level and detailed skill intel (the greater the gap in physical fitness between the two sides, the more detailed the information obtained). Wen Yu had always used this skill very sparingly—because in most cases, Night Eyes simply wouldn’t take effect on his opponents, such as Black River Sovereign, Oga, and others.

The disparity in power completely cut off any possibility of Night Eyes functioning.

As for other people, Wen Yu truly couldn’t be bothered to use this skill—because there was no point…

For weaklings he could slaughter with a wave of his hand, Wen Yu had no need to know what trump cards they had!

But Tang Haofei was an exception.

When Tang Haofei was awakened by Wen Yu and brought to Yanjing, at first, Wen Yu couldn’t figure out Tang Haofei’s New Skill—in normal circumstances, Tang Haofei’s physical fitness was far superior to Wen Yu’s, and only after Wen Yu had used augmented skills could their strengths roughly match.

But after using the Soul Balance Scale to resolve Oga, Wen Yu’s Soul Power skyrocketed; leveraging the formidable Soul Strength in his Soul Leave Body State, Wen Yu thoroughly probed Tang Haofei inside and out…

Among that intel was information on the Strength Balance Scale.

For this skill, Wen Yu was naturally envious; however, bound by the Dominator’s prohibition, Wen Yu couldn’t possibly kill Tang Haofei and strip away the Strength Balance Scale—but that didn’t mean Wen Yu couldn’t use the intelligence gap to screw Old Tang over!

Yes, he forced Tang Haofei to use the Strength Balance Scale, then canceled all augmented skills on himself!

Without augmented skills, how large was the gap between Wen Yu’s basic physical fitness and Tang Haofei’s?

Worlds apart!

Only by Ultra Mortal Combat triggering its limit state, then paired with the Dream becomes Reality Skill System, could Wen Yu crush Tang Haofei—calling it crushing, but overall he was only several dozen times stronger at most. And how much amplification did Ultra Mortal Combat plus the Dream becomes Reality Skill System bring Wen Yu?

That was an amplification of over a million times!

Under these circumstances, the physical fitness Tang Haofei had painstakingly ground out through Life and Death Battle Execution collapsed in an instant before Wen Yu; he essentially handed over half of his physical fitness to Wen Yu out of thin air!

And this was basic physical fitness…

Once Wen Yu possessed the same basic physical fitness as Tang Haofei, the difference in their actual combat strength was enough to make Tang Haofei’s mindset detonate, his heart turn to ash!

…

The profound power grew stronger and stronger, and before long, forced balancing began.

Tang Haofei only felt himself growing weaker and weaker, while on the other hand, Wen Yu’s own strength was skyrocketing crazily at extreme speed!

In just three seconds, the balance ended, and the two landed simultaneously.

Tang Haofei’s face was bleak, as if he had just gone through some major blow, while Wen Yu’s face was expressionless, though a trace of coldness flickered in his eyes.

This time, using Tang Haofei’s Strength Balance Scale to strike at Tang Haofei, Wen Yu’s move was somewhat vicious…

Yet many things are just like this, especially given the competitive relationship between the two. Wen Yu absolutely could not afford to hold back!

This was not just tactics…

It was also Wen Yu’s conspiracy to cripple Tang Haofei!

That’s right—to cripple him!

After a single use of the Strength Balance Scale, although Tang Haofei’s physical fitness had dropped by less than half and seemed not to affect him too much—just another Life and Death Battle Execution’s worth of effort—the converse was Wen Yu’s Strengthen!

This was the most devastating part, because the strength of power lies in comparison, and Wen Yu’s augmented skills were far too numerous and far too strong—so strong that Tang Haofei could no longer see any chance of fighting and winning—neither now, nor in the next hundred years!

“I admit defeat…”

Tang Haofei said these three words, expressionless.
