Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

The eleven members of the Demon Tribe were laid out by Wen Yu, who fumbled through his space ring to pull out a finely crafted handgun.

Vicious Venom…

For these Demon Spirit clones, Wen Yu had to use Vicious Venom to thoroughly seal them before transferring them to the Eternal Cage.

“biubiubiu…”

Vicious bullets shot out continuously, while Philip tidied up his share of Demon Spirit clones and then stood still, curiously watching Wen Yu.

“You’ve got something interesting going on.”

“I think you, Demon Fiend, are quite interesting too.”

Wen Yu retorted without looking up, but Philip wasn’t angered. He merely chuckled as he scrutinized Wen Yu, before finally speaking.

“Is this a clone?”

“Yes, it’s a clone…”

“Such a real clone, this is the first time I’ve seen one. Also, I really want to know how you dealt with Oga.”

“Brother, if you have nothing better to do, hurry up and leave. Does dawdling around here amuse me?”

Wen Yu looked at Philip, who behaved like a gossiping old woman, unable to suppress his impatience—once the cooperation ceased, the two no longer had any relationship, and Philip had been sent tumbling from the top position by the Demon Spirit, ensuring he would never be the top of the Demon Tribe again…

This essentially meant that there was no longer any rivalry between them—Wen Yu didn’t believe Philip would take sides with the Demon Spirit. It was impossible.

Neither friend nor foe, in other words, Philip meant nothing to Wen Yu now; at best, he was a backup Immortal Pill for fifty years later…

For people with such status, Wen Yu really didn’t have much interest in interacting with them.

Perhaps Philip sensed Wen Yu’s mood, he tilted his head and pursed his lips, then walked straight to a fixed spot.

The two fell silent once more.

Just as Wen Yu finished managing the second Demon Spirit clone, a faint blue halo suddenly flashed where Philip was standing, and the next moment, Philip’s figure vanished without a trace.

Seeing this, Wen Yu couldn’t help but rub his eyes, only to find that Philip was indeed gone.

As for where he went, well, Wen Yu didn’t care…

…

Sealing a clone takes Wen Yu considerable time, but fortunately, Philip did not make any moves to burn bridges—he didn’t revoke the restrictive skills left on the Demon Spirit clones.

This saved Wen Yu a lot of effort.

Only after sealing the eleventh Demon Spirit clone did the place where the Demon Spirit had just vanished light up once again with a flash, the sudden change made Wen Yu freeze momentarily, lifting his head just to see Philip’s face full of doubt.

“Why did you come back?”

Wen Yu asked.

Upon hearing Wen Yu’s question, Philip’s face immediately showed an awkward expression.

“For you.”

“For me?”

Philip nodded, then bent down and extended his hand to Wen Yu in an inviting gesture.

“The higher-ups have ordered me to invite you to visit the Demon Palace.”

Wen Yu was immediately dumbfounded.

…

Philip’s superior must undoubtedly be the Demon Lord, but whether this invitation truly came from the Demon Lord is still up for debate.

With doubts in his heart, Wen Yu might as well address Philip’s dilemma, and after waiting a moment, Philip spoke again.

“This is just an invitation, whether you go or not is up to you.”

His tone respectful, his attitude sincere, Wen Yu bowed his head in thought for a moment, then after sealing the final Demon Spirit clone, he finally stood up, dusting off his behind.

“You know this is a clone, right?”

“Yes!”

“You’ve been thrown out of the Surface Demon Realm by the Demon Spirit, slipped into the Demon Palace, and just now you said the Demon Lord wanted you to invite me to the Demon Palace, which means you’ll hide in the Demon Palace from now on, is that right?”

“Yes!”

“So, we’re unlikely to have any conflicts of interest in the future, is that right?”

“In a certain sense, if not for this invitation, we might never meet again in the future.”

“Do you know that I’m a person who holds grudges, so if you screw over this clone, my other 88 clones will certainly team up and find trouble with you in the Demon Palace, or even with your boss?”

“I mean no harm.”

Philip chuckled bitterly, a half-smiling expression on his face—88 clones, you dare to boast.

“Then there’s no problem, I presume that you also wouldn’t dare to screw me over!”

Wen Yu said, and then, like a proud rooster, he walked over to Philip with head held high.

“Lead the way.”

Philip sighed immediately, standing still, and moments later, a pale blue door appeared in the spot from earlier.

“Please!”

Philip extended his hand, Wen Yu wasted no time and jumped right in.

…

With the familiar dizziness coming over, when Wen Yu regained his clarity, he found himself in a desolate place.

“Where is this?”

Confronted with Wen Yu’s confusion, Philip gave a simple explanation.

“Demon Palace Basement Level 999.”

A familiar place, yet unfamiliar scenery, Wen Yu’s guard was still up as he alertly surveyed his surroundings, until Philip spoke again.

“We’ll first go to the Origin Pool in Basement Level 999 of the Demon Palace, and after dealing with the Demon Spirit clone, bring you to meet our lord.”

This statement matched what information Wen Yu already had.

Harboring caution towards Philip, Wen Yu followed him toward a certain direction, walking for about half an hour, as the scenery became more and more familiar, Wen Yu’s guard finally began to diminish.

Here, indeed, was the path to the Origin Pool…

And it was the same path that Wen Yu and Bai had traveled before.

“Take this.”

Standing at the entrance of a passage, Philip said this to Wen Yu, then took out a small jade amulet-style item from his spatial tools.

“What’s this?”

Holding the jade amulet, Wen Yu was full of confusion.

“Here, there’s a defensive mechanism named Guardian, the item you’re holding is essentially the Guardian’s identification chip, which can help you block its attacks…”

After explaining, Philip watched as an awkward expression slowly crept upon Wen Yu’s face, but continued speaking.

“This Guardian, developed by the Demon Lord, is a super defense tool. Without the identification chip, even I couldn’t take a step inside…”

Philip rattled on about how strong and amazing the Guardian was, while Wen Yu listened until he slowly put away his awkward expression.

“How long has it been since you returned to the Demon Palace?”

Wen Yu suddenly interjected, breaking Philip’s steady spiel, causing Philip to pause before speaking.

“It’s been a long time, unless necessary, I won’t return, why?”

“…Nothing…”

As Wen Yu said this, Philip fell silent as the two walked one after the other into the passage until a faint glow appeared ahead.

They’d arrived…

But Philip’s expression grew increasingly unpleasant.

“Something’s not right, where is the Guardian?”
