Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Tang Haofei’s house isn’t far from the Supreme Commander Room and Wen Yu’s residence.

Wen Yu left the Supreme Command Headquarters, Dragon Two drove, and it only took five minutes to reach Tang Haofei’s place—though five minutes seemed a bit wasteful, according to Fran, the Supreme Commander needs to maintain his prestige.

Moreover, the Yanjing Assembly Site is a no-fly zone; although this restriction has little impact on Wen Yu, he still prefers to abide by the orders he signed himself.

Seeing Wen Yu’s car parked in front of the manor, the guard quickly opened the gate, and Wen Yu, accompanied by Dragon Two, got out of the car. As soon as Wen Yu entered the courtyard, Li Quan’an and Vila eagerly came running over.

”Sir.”

The two first greeted respectfully, then asked.

”Tang Haofei is resting, do you need me to wake him up?”

Vila said this with a certain mischievous glint in her eye, but Wen Yu only shook his head.

”No need, just let him know I’m here when he wakes up. For now, accompany me for a stroll around here.”

Wen Yu’s goal was not to see Tang Haofei.

He simply wanted to stay away from Lin Haifeng...

After transforming into a superintelligence, Lin Haifeng’s computational power and intelligence analysis capabilities improved further, and to some extent, he could see through people’s minds and predict the future direction of certain events.

Just as he said himself, in Yanjing, he is omnipresent, knowing all...

Originally, Wen Yu had no secrets from Lin Haifeng, yet regarding Tang Haofei, a disagreement emerged between them for the first time in over thirty years.

This disagreement is minor, and perhaps to Lin Haifeng, it’s just a trivial matter, but what Wen Yu truly thinks is known only to himself.

Li Quan’an and Vila exchanged glances, and eventually, it was Li Quan’an who accompanied Wen Yu, wandering aimlessly in Tang Haofei’s house.

By the time they returned to the sitting room, Tang Haofei, still looking sleepy, had already appeared inside.

...

”I didn’t mean to disturb you.”

Wen Yu smiled and apologized, but Tang Haofei just waved his hand, indicating it was no big deal, while yawning.

”So, why did you come this time?”

Tang Haofei looked confused, seemingly attempting to probe Wen Yu’s purpose in coming—as Lin Haifeng predicted, Tang Haofei was somewhat aware of Wen Yu’s actions, at least to a considerable extent.

This room was certainly full of surveillance devices, and even his escapades from last night might have been privately videoed by Wen Yu, treasured as a private collection; he genuinely couldn’t fathom the purpose of Wen Yu’s visit this morning.

After all, he perceived Wen Yu’s vigilance toward him, though the specific reason was unclear, the ultra-keen intuition brought by powerful strength wasn’t deceiving.

Yet, Wen Yu simply smiled lightly, then casually sat on a chair.

”Got bored, came to see an old friend, can’t I? Or are you not welcoming me?”

Upon hearing this, Tang Haofei paused briefly, then smiled and nodded.

”Of course you’re welcome, but are you sure you have no urgent matters to discuss?”

Upon hearing this, Wen Yu pursed his lips.

”If grabbing a meal, having a drink, or strolling around counts as urgent matters.”

Wen Yu said, and somehow, the previously indescribable atmosphere between them abruptly changed.

Tang Haofei’s smile gradually lightened but became more sincere, he merely stared at Wen Yu for a moment before nodding.

”Then let’s go for a walk; coincidentally, I want to see the changes in Yanjing over the years, by the way, if I bring my girlfriend along, I guess you wouldn’t mind?”

”I would welcome it...”

Wen Yu said so.

...

On the way out, the two walked one after the other, yet did not speak.

Truth is, Wen Yu didn’t really know what to say to Tang Haofei—about him being a blockade in his path?

This wasn’t Tang Haofei’s fault; if to blame, blame Dominator, but the problem was Wen Yu couldn’t trouble Dominator, the instigator, which in some way affected Wen Yu’s perception of Tang Haofei.

It wasn’t malevolence; it was just self-preservation.

However, what exactly to do or whether to do anything, Wen Yu hadn’t figured out, as he thought earlier, he was just purely wanting to see Tang Haofei and at the same time stay away from that superintelligence that could see through everything.

As they reached the door, they still hadn’t said a word until footsteps sounded from afar, moments later, Sun Xuewei’s tall figure came into view.

”Sir.”

She first greeted Wen Yu, then smiled and wrapped her arm around Tang Haofei’s beside, upon seeing this, Wen Yu simply shook his head with a smile.

”Stop calling me sir, if you two really get together, in the future I might have to call you sister-in-law...”

Though the words were a jest, to Tang Haofei, it warmed his heart, and he smiled, patting Wen Yu’s shoulder, feeling much better than before.

”No point in saying such nonsense, let’s find somewhere to wander, by the way, don’t you have any official work today?”

”Fran takes care of everything; by the way, you should know that my position is quite idle.”

After simply echoing a sentence, Wen Yu took the lead and headed towards the main commercial street of the inner city zone.

...

In the private chamber of Yonghe Grand Hotel, Wen Yu sat across from Tang Haofei and Sun Xuewei.

Tang Haofei was funny, Wen Yu was not taciturn, and Sun Xuewei seemed lively, overall, the atmosphere was good.

As they chatted, they drifted into reminiscing about past amusing events...

Wen Yu and Tang Haofei’s various past events, Wen Yu’s past conflicts with Yanjing, his conflict with Tang Two, and everything else seemed to immerse Wen Yu and Tang Haofei in the bygone days.

Once the food and drinks were served, Wen Yu and Tang Haofei drank freely, everything, as it was back then, they sat on the ground, chatting freely.

Like old friends reunited, Wen Yu appeared sincere, and Tang Haofei was genuinely involved.

”So, nothing has changed, right?”

Tang Haofei was drinking when he suddenly said this, Wen Yu paused, then looked into Tang Haofei’s eyes.

Those eyes showed genuine inquiry.

Wen Yu was momentarily silent, unsure of how to respond.

A lot has changed, it’s just that you don’t want to acknowledge these changes...

”Forget it, it’s my fault, I shouldn’t have brought this topic up, let’s drink.”

”Indeed, leave the work talk to another time, after all, it’s rare for you two to finally sit together again, what’s the point in discussing such matters now.”

Sun Xuewei chimed in to smooth things over, yet Wen Yu continued to look at Tang Haofei, and after a long pause, softly said.

”Thank you.”

”What are you thanking me for?”

Tang Haofei seemed somewhat confused.

Wen Yu chuckled.

”I just wanted to say this to you for a long time.”

Tang Haofei crafted a smile, though inside his eyes, a complex expression was evident.

”Anything I’ve done for you has always been voluntarily, so no need to thank me, my brother...”
