Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”It’s much better now...”

After finishing all this, Oga stared at the only remaining eye of Wen Yu, opened his mouth slowly, saying he didn’t know how to save his brothers.

Even though Oga had strong abilities, he didn’t have a way to break through the Netherworld. It would require cooperation from both inside and outside—Philip’s skill certainly had a time limit, and once that time was up, the near seventy Demon Spirit carbon copies within the Netherworld would regain control of their powers, and defeating the Netherworld with their strength was a simple task.

But neither Oga nor the Demon Spirits knew how long Philip’s skill would last.

Maybe it would end in the next second, or maybe Philip’s skill could last a lifetime...

Besides that, there was another option.

Wait for the Demon Spirits to resolve Philip, and then let the Demon Spirits nurse Wen Yu—or send out a carbon copy to possess him; Wen Yu indeed had the qualifications to become a vessel for the Demon Spirit carbon copy. Although he was weak now, he had immense potential. Or use some means Oga didn’t know about.

Oga believed that the Demon Spirits definitely had the ability to solve this matter. In his eyes, the Demon Spirits, his true form, were omnipotent!

Oga thought about this for a long time until a sentence interrupted his thoughts.

”By the way, your strength should be much stronger than the Black River Sovereign, right?”

A hoarse voice came from Wen Yu’s mouth, causing Oga to be stunned for a moment before nodding lightly.

”Much stronger.”

It was just an instinctual response.

”Then my long-stored ultimate strike has not been in vain!”

The words ”ultimate strike” were gritted out by Wen Yu, immediately followed by a strange and elaborate stream of energy.

Oga was first taken aback, but then he quickly calmed down.

Everyone has trump cards, and certainly, Wen Yu had them too. But considering the power gap between the two, Oga couldn’t think of what sort of trump card could overturn their disparity in power.

This chasm was entirely insurmountable!

However, soon enough, Oga could no longer smile.

...

”Boom!”

An enormous yet illusory scale appeared between the two of them. At that moment, Oga’s form suddenly shuddered, and then he only felt a gigantic force pulling his soul out of his body, forcibly standing on one side of the scale.

On the ground, Wen Yu’s similarly broken soul body emerged from his damaged form, pulled to the other side by this force.

”Crack...”

Both stood on each side of the scale simultaneously. Oga’s formidable soul power forcefully pressed down his side of the scale, and the Soul Balance Scale seemed to emit a cracking sound from the strain.

The disparity was clear at a glance!

Seeing this, Wen Yu gave Oga, who was looking blankly, a strange smile, seemingly extremely satisfied with the outcome!

And Oga was still in a daze, seemingly not understanding what the skill’s purpose was.

The next second, the Soul Balance Scale activated, and the forced balance began...

...

One stream after another of strange energy emerged from the ground, drilling into Oga’s soul body.

There was no pain, no harm. They wandered around Oga’s body as if they were tourists.

Until these energies thoroughly explored Oga and Wen Yu’s soul bodies, another energy was birthed under Oga’s feet.

Still no pain, no harm, yet as this energy went in and out of his body, moments later, Oga felt a sensation of weakening emanating from his soul body. Concurrently, while he grew weaker, Wen Yu’s soul body kept strengthening!

Their disparity went from thousands to hundreds, and then tens...

Oga’s expression transitioned from dazed to surprised, astonished, and then shocked...

Until finally, the two’s soul powers reached complete equilibrium, and only then did the Soul Balance Scale gradually disappear.

”Soul Battlefield!”

Without a seam, it instantly pulled Oga into the Soul Battlefield!

...

Standing dazed on the Soul Battlefield, Oga looked at Wen Yu, whose presence was no less than his own, still seemingly unable to extricate himself from the shock brought by the Soul Balance Scale.

And Wen Yu, he just savored the amplifying of his soul strength...

This power was completely a height Wen Yu never dared to dream of before!

In fact, when facing the Black River Sovereign, Wen Yu had considered using the Soul Balance Scale—since acquiring the Soul Balance Scale, about forty years passed. At the time, the Soul Balance Scale’s fifty-year cooldown duration seemed long to him, yet now, it didn’t seem entirely unbearable.

But given the importance placed on the Soul Balance Scale’s turnaround capability, Wen Yu did not use it on the Black River Sovereign—in fact, since the Black River Sovereign was already captured, Wen Yu could easily wait three to five years, until this matter was entirely over, before considering consuming the Black River Sovereign, that great replenishing Immortal Pill.

Little did he expect that while waiting, a better target emerged.

Originally, Wen Yu’s participation in the showdown between Philip and the Demon Spirits was partly to collect the Demon Spirit carbon copies, and partly to harbor the notion of using the Soul Balance Scale on Philip, possibly even the Demon Spirit itself.

Philip’s threat was greatly coveted by Wen Yu. In fact, he had already decided to devour Philip, that sweet treat, when delivering the Demon Spirit carbon copies. But unexpectedly, things changed with Philip, and Oga caught up in an instant, stripping away Wen Yu’s ability to counterattack.

Although using the fifty-year cycle of the Soul Balance Scale on Oga seemed a slight waste, it was certainly not a misuse.

...

The rampant soul power coursed throughout the soul body, instantly breaking the strange power Oga had attached to Wen Yu’s wounds. Simultaneously, the Blood and Flesh Badge and Photosynthetic Spirit Motifs reactivated, instantly restoring Wen Yu’s soul and physical body to peak status.

After completing all this, Wen Yu then smiled at Oga, this smile rather polite.

”Thank you.”

Indeed, he even said thank you!

This was benefitting from a gain and still playing innocent.

Seeing this scene, Oga immediately snapped out of his shock from the Soul Balance Scale. He took a look at his soul body, feeling over half of his strength diminished. Oga instantly bared his teeth, seemingly wanting to bite off the smile-filled face of Wen Yu.

But quickly, Oga calmed down.

”What’s the use?”

He asked this, then displayed an air of having everything under control.

”As soon as the cooldown time is over, I will definitely use every abuse method I’ve learned in my life on you! As for now, hmph...”

Oga said this as he slowly backed away in his soul body—under equal soul strength, Oga did not want to engage in a fight with Wen Yu.

He assumed the effect of the Soul Balance Scale was only temporary.

Until Wen Yu revealed the truth from the bottom of his heart, shattering Oga’s self-deception.

”It’s a permanent effect, sorry, you’ve been crippled by me... Well, halfway...”
