Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Guardians...

They are gone, not a single one left.

Of course, Wen Yu couldn’t possibly tell Philip this embarrassing truth; he just watched as Philip’s expression changed over and over, finally turning as dark as the bottom of a pot. Wen Yu chuckled inwardly but showed no sign of panic on his face.

”Where are the guardians?”

”Damn it, how should I know...”

Philip stood at the entrance of the cave, cursing uncontrollably.

He cursed the thief who stole the guardians, cursed some neglectful protectors, and especially vented a torrent of curses on his very own Demon Palace Security Bureau.

After Philip cursed for about ten minutes, he sighed.

”Forget it... they’re gone, just report to Lord Demon Lord later, and recreate them.”

”Recreate them?”

Upon hearing these words, Wen Yu’s eyes narrowed instantly.

”Are these guardians easy for the Demon Lord to create?”

”It’s not particularly difficult.”

Philip answered vaguely and then led Wen Yu into the interior of the Origin Pool.

...

Once again, it felt as if they were amidst the stars, yet this time, Wen Yu did not experience the same awe as before.

Philip no longer spoke to Wen Yu about the mysteries of this place; he simply led Wen Yu swiftly across the suspended arm until they entered the interior of the Origin Pool.

Then, Philip opened up the Space Equipment, pulling out a Demon Spirit carbon copy from within.

”Grow!”

With Philip’s commanding shout, his arms suddenly became thicker and longer, until they stretched over ten meters. Only then did Philip grab the Demon Spirit carbon copy with both hands and twist forcefully.

Like wringing a towel, mystical runes flickered continuously in Philip’s hands, as the ”juice” within the Demon Spirit carbon copy was extracted and dripped into the pool below. Wen Yu suddenly noticed an extremely minuscule increase in the capacity of Origin Energy within the Origin Pool.

Though small, considering the overall capacity of Origin Energy in the pool, this increase was not insignificant!

”So, you’re bringing back what the Demon Spirit took, right?”

”Exactly, an Origin Energy from a world, the amount is not too small. I’ve heard from Legas that you’ve been here before, known some secrets about the Demon Realm, so you must rely on these things to sustain yourself in the Demon Realm.”

”Saying ’bringing back what the Demon Spirit stole’ is not quite accurate, because what the Demon Spirit took does belong to them, or rather their carbon copy. But if you want to discuss morality and ethics with me on this matter, it really is meaningless...”

”The fault indeed lies with us; those worlds we invaded indeed suffered disaster, but we only wanted to continue surviving. You can’t say the fundamental desire to live is wrong, can you?”

Hearing Philip’s words, Wen Yu merely smiled.

He found Philip’s thought process quite insightful, quite interesting, but he left out the most crucial point.

”The key is you are strong enough... I’m not talking about the Demon Spirit, but those destroyed worlds.”

”...Indeed, that’s the fundamental factor.”

Philip said this, then stopped speaking further—such discussions held no practical significance. The Demon Tribe would inevitably invade, and the invaded worlds would inevitably resist; you can’t expect either side to abandon these actions.

In the end, it is merely a matter of who is stronger, who is more fierce—Wen Yu simply didn’t believe that if they could take on the Dominator, Tang Haofei could destroy the Demon Lord, or Yanjing could defeat the Demon Tribe, they wouldn’t retreat.

Impossible...

...

A moment later, Philip finished wringing the first Demon Spirit carbon copy.

The completely drained Demon Spirit carbon copy was now like a rag, slumped in Philip’s hand, looking as pitiful as possible. Philip carefully inspected the Demon Spirit carbon copy, confirming its Origin Energy had been completely squeezed dry, then stored it in his space ring, extracting another Demon Spirit carbon copy.

Repeat the process...

Wen Yu watched for a while, then ceased focusing on it; he simply wandered around the vicinity of the Origin Pool several times. Approximately an hour later, Philip completed these tasks and located Wen Yu.

”Let’s go, meet Lord Demon Lord.”

Wen Yu nodded in agreement.

...

The two left the Origin Pool, and ascended the passageway.

The route was mostly opposite to the route Wen Yu once took, though the difference this time was the absence of pursuers.

The last time, Wen Yu’s identity was ”thief,” but this time, it was ”guest.”

Life’s encounters are always so cyclical...

And a guest naturally has the privileges of a guest.

At the very least, Wen Yu followed Philip ascending, not only without encountering any interception but also took rest stops in certain cities, enjoyed some delicacies, inspected some work, Wen Yu feigned authority and bluster, attracting a wave of flattery and attention.

Needless to say, nearly all residents within the Demon Palace have never seen the ”Human” species, only assuming Wen Yu to be some Mutant Demon Tribe, and with Philip alongside, Wen Yu naturally encountered no trouble.

The two thus walked intermittently for about three days before smoothly arriving at the 998th layer of the Demon Palace upper level.

...

The upper level of the Demon Palace, Wen Yu had never visited before. Upon this visit, he toured around under Philip’s guidance—in totality, the layout inside the Demon Palace was sensible and well-equipped.

As Wen Yu had noted last time, the Demon Palace appears to have been shaped by the Demon Lord into a relatively complete world. Apart from certain high ranks within the palace—extremely high ones, the remaining palace residents were unaware of the vastness of the external world.

A form of limitation, yet also a form of protection.

And the 998th layer of the Demon Palace is entirely a city.

Named Gus, translated as Majestic Peak.

It is the uppermost city of the Demon Palace and also its largest city.

The city sprawls across the entire 998th layer, housing the Demon Palace Security Bureau Headquarters, among other secret facilities, luxurious residential areas, and living support zones. The demon tribe residing here is either powerful or prestigious. Similarly, here, Wen Yu once again encountered Legas.

”Hello.”

Wen Yu greeted Legas with a smile, only to be met with Legas’ pitch-black scowl.

Wen Yu liked Legas—this kid had helped him quite a lot, but conversely, Legas might not have any favorable feelings toward Wen Yu.

He not only became a scapegoat for Wen Yu but also had his family wiped out by Wen Yu...

”Follow me.”

Legas couldn’t be bothered with pleasantries with Wen Yu; he simply stated it briefly, then led Philip and Wen Yu towards the center of Majestic Peak City.

...

All along the way, Legas remained cold-faced, indifferent to Wen Yu’s presence. Yet Wen Yu took the initiative to engage in small talk with Legas.

”I wondered why I hadn’t seen you, turns out you ended up here.”

”I must say, Philip treats you well, and you’re indeed very lucky; if you stayed outside, you would have been crushed into pieces by the Demon Spirit long ago.”

”By the way, where are you currently employed? It must be at the Demon Palace Security Bureau, judging by your current status.”

”Shut up!”

Legas rudely expressed his desire to Wen Yu...
