Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Wen Yu was all smiles and didn’t respond to Legas’s request, while Legas looked very disgruntled but didn’t take any excessive actions.

This is proof enough that Wen Yu’s visit to the Demon Palace is indeed the intention of the Demon Lord.

After extracting this information, Wen Yu chatted a bit more casually with Legas, but Legas only uttered the word ”scram” and said nothing else.

Facing Legas’s strict guard, Wen Yu simply shrugged until the three of them arrived at a dignified building.

Above it hung five large characters: ”Demon Palace Security Bureau.”

...

”Whew... impressive!”

Wen Yu casually whistled, then followed Legas and Philip inside.

This building occupied an extremely vast area, with numerous experts of the Demon Race bustling nonstop inside, but when they saw Philip and Legas, they stopped their work to respectfully greet the two.

Along the way, Philip had already revealed his identity to Wen Yu, as the Director of the Demon Palace Security Bureau—influential even though he is often abroad, no one in the Security Bureau could match his influence.

After all, throughout the entire Demon Palace, apart from the Demon Lord, it seemed there wasn’t anyone who could withstand even a half move from Philip.

And Legas, having directly reached the Xiongfeng City Security Bureau headquarters, won great respect due to his past role as a seat on the Topmost 7-Member Council of the Demon Clan Army!

No wonder, last time Wen Yu came here, he discovered that although the Demon Palace Security Bureau had several Level 11 powerful experts, they were all weaklings—the strongest among them were merely equivalent to Wen Yu at the time, and after witnessing the battle between Demon Spirit and Philip, Wen Yu immediately thought that the so-called Demon Palace Security Bureau really was not much at all.

Hence, even though Legas had wasted most of his Origin Energy, he still became the second-most powerful expert after Philip here.

No wonder they say life is full of ups and downs.

Legas only needed three days to find his second chance at life in the Demon Palace Security Bureau, experiencing a new spring...

...

The three of them passed through the main hall of the Demon Palace Security Bureau, heading deeper inside, and shortly, under Legas’s lead, they reached the 39th underground floor.

The bright steel corridor, the airtight vigilance and warning, all emphasized the significance of this place.

After passing through more than a hundred layers of security measures, the trio finally arrived at a hall.

In the center of the hall, a micro teleportation gate flickering with Blue Light appeared before them.

”This is the sole entrance to the topmost level of the Demon Palace.”

Philip explained to Wen Yu, then intended to enter the Demon Lord’s dwelling with Wen Yu, but didn’t expect that as soon as the two started to move, Legas reached out an arm to stop Wen Yu.

”By the order of the Demon Lord, my father can go in, but Wen Yu cannot.”

A simple sentence made both Wen Yu and Philip frown, but Wen Yu didn’t seem to mind, casually shaking his head and stepping back half a step, showing he wasn’t particularly interested in meeting the Demon Lord.

After all, this matter doesn’t turn on Wen Yu’s will—if He wants to meet Wen Yu, Wen Yu will meet, if He doesn’t, it means there’s no urgent matter, so Wen Yu doesn’t necessarily have to meet him.

Wen Yu conveyed his attitude, and Philip no longer insisted, instead entering the teleportation gate alone, leaving Legas and Wen Yu standing face to face in the hall, the atmosphere awkward.

...

”So, the battle up there, was lost?”

After a while, it was Legas who first spoke, his tone forlorn, his voice filled with regret and reluctance, but without much surprise or anger.

”From your accent, you guessed it already, right?”

Wen Yu simply replied, and Legas sighed immediately.

”I knew it, after all the long preparations Demon Spirit made, there’s no way my father could withstand it, fortunately, he didn’t lose his life up there.”

Wen Yu nodded at once, seeming to agree with Legas’s logic.

”Still alive, and living well, that is more important than anything else.”

”Therefore, you should thank me... if it weren’t for me, you might have been possessed by Demon Spirit at any moment.”

Hearing Wen Yu’s logic, Legas froze on the spot, thinking it over repeatedly for a while, before coldly snorting.

This matter, there’s no clear right or wrong.

The two of them continued in silence for about an hour until the teleportation gate flashed with Blue Light, and Philip emerged from it immediately.

At this moment, Philip’s face was heavy, apparently his conversation with the Demon Lord wasn’t very pleasant.

He first glanced at Legas, then at Wen Yu, thinking carefully about his wording before finally speaking to Wen Yu.

”Wen Yu, the Demon Palace wants to employ you for some tasks, nothing dangerous...”

Wen Yu immediately raised his eyebrows.

”Tell me the reward first, then the job.”

Philip nodded.

”Follow me.”

Saying so, he proceeded toward another direction.

...

The trio only stayed on the lowest floor of the Demon Palace Security Bureau for about an hour, Wen Yu didn’t do anything, didn’t see anyone, before leaving the Demon Palace Security Bureau.

They boarded Philip’s exclusive vehicle, Philip stated an address to the driver, and as the vehicle sped along, Wen Yu glanced at Philip, starting to speak.

”Tell me now, what exactly is the job, most importantly, what rewards can you offer?”

”Logistics work.”

Philip briefly said, then glanced at Legas...

Legas understandingly moved aside, slipping through the sunroof and out of the car—Philip didn’t want Legas to hear this conversation.

Once Legas was gone, Philip waved his hand, accompanied by the surge of darkness energy a strong soundproof barrier suddenly formed, only then did Philip continue.

”Just now, I discussed your issue with the Demon Lord, and gained some information about you. Well, let’s put it this way, you shouldn’t be considered an outsider.”

Wen Yu shrugged—that said, Wen Yu’s position was indeed awkward, yet it wasn’t entirely incorrect to say he was not an ”outsider” of the Demon Tribe.

”And the Demon Lord’s time is running out, even I can sense the Demon Lord’s weakness, coupled with Demon Spirit...”

Saying this, Philip sighed.

”Ah, you know, in the recent battle I was chased around by Demon Spirit, his power has already begun to pose a threat to the current Demon Lord. Initially, I thought with the Demon Lord anchoring the Demon Palace, any plan by Demon Spirit would be futile, but I was wrong.”

”Our situation is dire.”

This moment, Philip’s tone was serious, openly explaining the awkward situation of the Demon Palace.

”Demon Spirit has already gained a means to enter the Demon Palace, I don’t know when he’ll come here, but I’m certain I can’t stop Demon Spirit, and even Lord Demon Lord might not be able to either...”

”I can’t stop him either!”

Wen Yu straightforwardly said.

”Right, you can’t stop him either...”

”But someone can!”
