Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

However, misfortunes never come singly.

In fact, towards the end of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, the Almighty Immortal Emperor had been in meditative seclusion for a long time. His existence had become almost irrelevant to the Universe of Immortals and Heroes.

Even more disastrous news awaited, plunging the entire Universe of Immortals and Heroes into an irretrievable abyss...

”The Drunken Taoist led eighty percent of the Level 10 Breakthrough Achievers from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes to join the Dominator. All Exchange Stone Pillars disappeared, and the Treasure Land Protectors went missing... Lord Heaven’s Path, has the Universe of Immortals and Heroes been abandoned...”

”Boom!”

The stone door shattered piece by piece, revealing a chilling aura from behind that struck fear into the heart.

”Abandon? No! We have never been abandoned! Nor shall we ever choose to abandon ourselves!”

”Inform all beings in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes... we vow to live and die with the Universe of Immortals and Heroes!”

...

Vow to live and die with the Universe of Immortals and Heroes...

It sounds noble, yet no amount of vows or determination can bridge the gap in strength, nor can they stop the decline of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes...

The ensuing scenes of war were so unbearable for Wen Yu...

The best case scenario was mere survival, the worst case was elderly, weak, and sick being lined up and slaughtered by fully armed soldiers.

And within the Tenth Layer of Heaven in Tiangong, the Universe of Immortals and Heroes’ Level 11 powerful expert Lord Heaven’s Path and Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Chief Da Luo faced the siege of hundreds of Level 10 Limit Breakthrough demon spawn until they reached their life’s end.

The Dominator vanished, and until death, Heaven’s Path could not become Sequence Number 1.

Similarly, until death, Heaven’s Path remembered the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s instructions, never glancing at the wall paintings left by the Immortal Emperor...

Perhaps, in memories unexplored by Wen Yu, Heaven’s Path rebellious spirit stirred, and he secretly looked at the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s wall paintings...

Who knows.

...

The scene slowly faded away, fixing Wen Yu’s sight on the death moment of Heaven’s Path.

Eyes void of spirit were filled with the final struggles and despair of life, silently accusing the heavens of their cruelty. Bloodstains and scars covered the body, surrounded by scattered bones, deepening Wen Yu’s understanding of this apocalypse...

In memory, Heaven’s Path’s power seemed unattainable to Wen Yu, capable of shattering space effortlessly, even causing heaven and earth to tremble, yet still fell to the Demon Tribe!

More lamentably, even though the Almighty Immortal Emperor had long known the Dominator’s conspiracy and the truth of the apocalypse, he lost composure under the brutal reality. To death, he couldn’t find a way to save the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, nor escape the Dominator’s control.

A doubt surged in Wen Yu’s mind—could he have done better?

The answer was clear—no!

Wen Yu lacked any confidence in doing better than the Almighty Immortal Emperor, or even Heaven’s Path.

So, where does the road ahead lie...

Thoughts surged one after another, and after viewing Heaven’s Path’s memory, Wen Yu did not gain insight but fell into more confusion.

What was the so-called truth, the real face and purpose of the Dominator.

A myriad of thoughts churned Wen Yu’s mind into chaos...

Until a low and warm call echoed by his ear.

”Junior Brother...”

Wen Yu turned his head in surprise, and amidst the haze, he saw the indistinct figure of Heaven’s Path stand beside him, smiling warmly, then...

He raised his index finger and gently touched Wen Yu’s forehead.

In the next instant, Wen Yu felt a dizzying whirl, and upon regaining his senses, he found himself amidst a ravaged world outside!

...

”Huff… huff!”

The sudden scene transition startled Wen Yu, and he raised his hand, gently touching his forehead.

Where Heaven’s Path had just touched, a slight coolness lingered, but Wen Yu felt nothing else.

Recalling Heaven’s Path’s nature and smile when he last appeared, Wen Yu managed to calm down.

Looking around, Heaven’s Path’s physical body had vanished—underneath the Soul Battlefield, no bones remained, and Heaven’s Path was no exception!

The Demon Lord’s figure was nowhere to be seen and, in this vast surface of the Eight Extreme Demon Palace, only Wen Yu remained...

Calming his emotions, Wen Yu gently called the Almighty Demon Vine after a while.

”Have you thought it through?”

The strange question from the Almighty Demon Vine met with Wen Yu’s determined response.

”Yes, I have!”

”You should know, with your current strength, if you ignore the truth, you can live comfortably and longer, but once you grasp part of the truth...”

”Many times, ignorance is not necessarily a bad thing.”

”No!”

Wen Yu’s reply was unusually firm: ”I’ve already taken my pants off, and you tell me this?”

The irreverent tone left the Almighty Demon Vine speechless; then, Wen Yu’s tone turned somber: ”Besides, isn’t bringing me here for just this reason?”

”The truth, meeting the so-called Demon, acquiring high-level application of spirit-based abilities, plus the method to promote to Level 11 seen in Heaven’s Path’s memory, and the Ancient God Palace...”

Having reached this point, Wen Yu realized he had discerned the essence of the matter; everything endured in Tiangong was nothing but a drama orchestrated by the Almighty Immortal Emperor...

Add to that his inexplicable rebirth!

The whole process and purpose were likely tied to the Demon Lord!

At this moment, Wen Yu’s thoughts were clearer than ever, the entire line unmistakable, and under such analysis, the identity of the soul residing within the Almighty Demon Vine was 80% certain to Wen Yu.

”Am I right? Almighty Immortal Emperor...”

”Hehe.”

The Almighty Demon Vine chuckled ambiguously, then emitted a powerful light.

Transmitting power frenetically pulled at Wen Yu’s body, until his consciousness began to blur and his head swirled. Then, another spiritual fluctuation reached Wen Yu’s mind.

”Remember what I’m about to say, regardless of what happens next, do not react at all!!!”

Before Wen Yu could ponder the deeper meaning of this spiritual fluctuation, the scene before him abruptly changed.

What appeared was a dim, stone corridor. Almost instinctively, soul perception spread out, and under great soul perception ability, Wen Yu discovered dimly luminous wall paintings on either side of the stone corridor.

”This is the truth you sought… but… never, never forget my last reminder!”
