Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Live as long as you can...”

The pessimistic and despairing words of the Almighty Immortal Emperor echoed in his mind. The next second, the world spun around the Heavenly Dao, and Wen Yu, who was watching the Heavenly Dao’s memories, was also momentarily dazzled as the scene shifted directly to a vast and unknown land.

In the vast space, vibrant lights flashed as streams of energy of various colors dispersed, and at the very center, a spherical stone block with a diameter of nearly a hundred meters continuously emitted an astonishing aura.

Every oscillation of the aura seemed like drums beating, the eerie sound causing the surrounding space to continuously oscillate. Without any introduction, a term abruptly flashed through Wen Yu’s mind—World Core!

It contained most of the Origin Energy of the entire world, representing the pulse and life of a world, and also its heart!

Wen Yu watched as the Heavenly Dao slowly approached the World Core, then pressed his right hand tightly—energy began to transfer, the aura of the Heavenly Dao visibly strengthened, while the World Core gradually shrank!

The energy from the World Core continuously surged into the Heavenly Dao’s body until the World Core had shrunk by nearly one third, only then did the Heavenly Dao retract his right hand.

The majestic aura began to ferment, the strength, momentum, and even the life essence of the Heavenly Dao started to transform.

Then, a gentle force slowly pushed the Heavenly Dao’s body, and in the blink of an eye, the Heavenly Dao had appeared in the outside world.

...

The location where the Heavenly Dao appeared was far from the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Headquarters.

Even with the strength of the Heavenly Dao, it took three days to return to the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Headquarters.

Along the way, the scenes the Heavenly Dao saw appeared clearly before Wen Yu’s eyes—corpses scattered everywhere, the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, already ravaged, seemed like a helpless gigantic beast ravaged by war, torn and devastated in even fiercer battles.

Defeated...

Even by Wen Yu’s reckoning, the situation of warfare along the way was clear—the warfare potential of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes had been completely exhausted, only the remaining population and life could not withstand a second racial war.

The Heavenly Dao naturally understood this point too, however, the Heavenly Dao was ultimately not the Almighty Immortal Emperor, there was no power to change the course of the war with just the Heavenly Dao alone.

Without stopping, the Heavenly Dao directly returned to the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Headquarters.

...

”Where’s Master?”

”In meditative seclusion...no one can call him...”

The drunken voice of the Drunken Taoist echoed, but within his tone, there was a hint of despair and dissatisfaction towards the Almighty Immortal Emperor.

The Heavenly Dao hesitated for a moment at the words, then turned and walked toward his residence—having just advanced, some time was needed to digest the power of Level 11.

”Wait...”

The voice sounded from behind.

”Oh...I just went to meet the Treasure Land Protector, they told me...”

”The seal of the Demon Realm’s Gate was released by Tongtian himself voluntarily...”

”I don’t believe it!”

”I don’t believe it either! But in the current situation...the Treasure Land Protector gave me another way, the Dominator has already spoken, he can protect a few hundred people from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, these people will all become Guardians of the treasure land...I’m thinking, maybe it’s a way out.”

”Hmm.”

The Heavenly Dao responded.

”But...the Dominator has a condition...”

”What condition?”

”Only Level 10 Breakthrough Achievers can become Guardians of the treasure land, and recently, the Dominator has already prepared to leave, so, if you wish to become a Guardian, you must enter the treasure land within three years...”

”Then what?”

The Drunken Taoist immediately fell silent.

The Heavenly Dao slowly turned around, fixing his gaze on the Drunken Taoist’s eyes.

”Several hundred Level 10 Breakthrough Achievers, in total, how many Level 10 Breakthrough Achievers does our Universe of Immortals and Heroes have? If they leave, what about the remaining people?”

”We’re already defeated, if one can leave, let them...”

The Drunken Taoist, too, felt a deep sense of helplessness, in his heart, it was a choice of necessity.

”I don’t agree! Unless the master gives consent, I won’t let you take away all the high-end combat power of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes!”

With one simple sentence, the Heavenly Dao had already clearly expressed his stance.

...

The scene fast-forwarded once again.

Within the vision of the Heavenly Dao, the already crumbling Universe of Immortals and Heroes had two voices emerging inside—the Drunken Taoist was insisting on preserving the last spark of life for the Universe, while pulling Da Luo in, and the Heavenly Dao stood firmly on the side of the Almighty Immortal Emperor, even if the Immortal Emperor had been in seclusion for a long time, even if the outside world was extremely doubtful and dissatisfied with the Immortal Emperor!

The war situation turned rapidly for the worse, concurrently, the situation of the pro-war faction on the side of the Almighty Immortal Emperor was becoming increasingly precarious.

”I’ve persuaded the Dominator, the Dominator has expanded the selected number! He can take away several thousand people, with no regard for their level!”

”The Dominator once again granted mercy, he can protect the entire Heavenly Palace, and within the Heavenly Palace, leave tens of thousands of people, our Human Race from the Universe can continue to reproduce and thrive within the Heavenly Palace...”

”The Dominator slowed down his departure, claiming to give us more time to consider!”

”The Dominator gave us another new choice...”

The stream of ”good news” brought by the Drunken Taoist caused chaos in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, the pro-war faction and the siding faction were on the verge of war, while the external situation was becoming more and more chaotic, Wen Yu watched the Universe lose one continent after another, until the Demon Tribe pushed the Human Race of the Universe into the Heavenly Palace.

”We can’t fight anymore...we’re defeated...”

”There’s only the path of siding with the Dominator...”

”Yeah, if the Almighty Immortal Emperor were still here...”

Someone mentioned the Immortal Emperor who had been in seclusion for years.

”Where is the Immortal Emperor exactly...”

...

The scene changed again.

About a year later, within the closed chamber of the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s meditative seclusion, the long unmoving door suddenly burst open, the familiar oscillation of the aura rose to the sky, yet at this moment, the feeling it gave was not of a king’s return but of a hero on his last legs...

”Heavenly Dao, Drunken Taoist, Da Luo! Come and see me!”

The last high-level meeting of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes was thus conducted in the place of the Immortal Emperor’s meditative seclusion.

...

Da Luo, like a mantra, recited the grim state of the Universe after the Immortal Emperor’s seclusion, with a blank expression.

The Drunken Taoist remained silent, merely sitting in place, squinting.

The Heavenly Dao, on the other hand, watched coldly the Drunken Taoist beside him—the discord in philosophy had caused a great rift between uncle and nephew.

And the Almighty Immortal Emperor listened to Da Luo’s report as if sleepwalking, occasionally raising his head to look above.

Until Da Luo finished speaking, only then did the Immortal Emperor nod.

”I know now...”

”You know? What do you know? Besides hiding away, being a coward, what have you done?”
