Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Following closely behind the tiny speck of light, as its speed increased, Wen Yu’s pace also quickened, while his injuries steadily healed.

It didn’t even take ten minutes for Wen Yu’s injuries to completely recover. By this point, the tiny speck of light’s speed had soared to its limit, shooting towards the depths of the cave like a beam of light.

Wen Yu, trailing the speck, didn’t hesitate. His entire body slowly transformed into a black streak of light, following the path carved by the speck as he gradually vanished into the pitch-black cave.

This continued until a pure white brilliance appeared before Wen Yu’s eyes!

Wen Yu’s body emerged from the darkness, and he slowly came to a halt.

The light source ahead was somewhat dazzling, prompting Wen Yu to raise his right hand to shield his eyes as he adapted to the sudden change in brightness.

Simultaneously, his Perception Ability spread out, meticulously scanning every inch of the ground before him.

Yet, he found nothing.

According to his Perception Ability, the area directly in front of him was merely a somewhat empty, open cavern.

After observing the striking white light with his naked eyes, Wen Yu grew wary and advanced cautiously until a massive sphere of light appeared in his field of vision.

His Perception Ability still detected no objects ahead, yet the sphere of light visible to his eyes undoubtedly indicated that this strange orb possessed some ability to block perception.

This was an unsettling realization, as physical sight shouldn’t be more effective than his Perception Ability.

The tiny speck of light he had been following was now gone. It has probably merged into this huge sphere of light in front of me, Wen Yu guessed. Slowly raising his right hand, he gently touched the luminous body.

A sensation identical to that of the tiny speck of light brushed past his fingertips.

Is it the same type of substance? No, calling it ’substance’ doesn’t feel quite right...

Wen Yu reached a conclusion about the unknown object before him—his conclusion being that he had no idea what it was.

Afterward, Wen Yu moved around the sphere of light, intending to see if there was anything else in the entire space. However, this glance gave him a shock!

A human figure abruptly appeared in Wen Yu’s field of vision. He froze for a moment, then reacted swiftly.

Mad Medley and Palpitation materialized in his hands. Simultaneously, Wen Yu’s body slowly blurred as he instantly adopted a defensive stance.

The figure before him remained motionless.

Wen Yu retreated two steps as his Perception Ability rapidly spread out, yet the figure before him still didn’t register within its range.

An undecayed corpse?

This was the only assessment Wen Yu could make, but it felt unreliable; even a corpse shouldn’t be able to evade his Perception Ability at such close range.

So... Before Wen Yu could conceive of another explanation, the figure’s eyelids twitched and, under Wen Yu’s astonished gaze, slowly opened.

TCH...

A disdainful snort escaped the figure’s lips, after which it closed its eyes again—giving Wen Yu the distinct impression of being regarded as nothing more than a pebble blown in by the wind.

There was no pressure, no hostility. The figure had glanced at Wen Yu with utter nonchalance, as if looking at an insignificant passerby.

Witnessing this, Wen Yu retreated another two steps, thoughts racing through his mind. After a moment’s consideration, he slowly retracted Mad Medley and Palpitation and bowed to the figure before him.

”Senior, this junior is Wen Yu, Young Master of the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance. I have come here uninvited and disturbed you. I hope Senior can forgive this intrusion...”

In this bizarre situation where his Perception Ability was useless and he couldn’t discern the figure’s strength, Wen Yu decisively chose to attempt negotiation.

In truth, Wen Yu wasn’t the type of reckless fool who only knew how to fight without using his brain, especially after being thoroughly ’schooled’ by Wu Long. He felt that on this seventh floor of the Heavenly Palace, it was best to communicate if possible, rather than resort to force.

The figure before him slowly waved a hand, and a hoarse voice neutrally uttered three words, ”Don’t bother me...”

Alright then. Faced with the figure’s aloof attitude, Wen Yu decisively retreated a few more steps.

This counts as a successful negotiation, I suppose, Wen Yu thought. He then proceeded to circle the entire spacious underground area.

The entire cavern contained nothing but the sphere of light and the figure.

After briefly surveying his surroundings, Wen Yu frowned. He first examined the massive sphere of light before him, then turned to look at the figure seated beside it.

The figure didn’t appear very old, perhaps around thirty. Even though the man was seated cross-legged, Wen Yu could sense his tall stature. Dressed entirely in black, his overall aura possessed a keen edge.

After a brief assessment of the young man, Wen Yu immediately averted his gaze. Although he detected no hostility from him, he also couldn’t gauge his strength. Since he couldn’t perceive the man’s strength, Wen Yu could only assume the worst.

This man is far stronger than I am!

Therefore, avoiding contact and any interaction is the best course of action!

With this in mind, Wen Yu bowed once more to the young man, then turned and started walking back the way he had come.

However, the very next second, a streak of white light flashed past the corner of Wen Yu’s eye!

What’s this? he thought, frowning as he looked towards where the white light had appeared.

Wen Yu was very familiar with this light; after all, he had just followed it to reach this place. However, the subsequent movement of the newly arrived speck of light was truly eye-opening for him.

He watched as the tiny speck of light trailed a long, fiery wake, instantly shooting past the massive sphere of light. Contrary to Wen Yu’s assumption, this tiny speck didn’t plunge directly into the large sphere. Instead, it bypassed it, then rapidly decelerated, stopping before the young man in the blink of an eye.

Then, the young man opened his mouth, and the tiny speck of light, as if drawn by an unknown force, flew directly into it and was swallowed.

The man’s abdomen visibly bulged for a moment, then slowly returned to normal. Then, Wen Yu watched as the young man slowly opened his mouth again.

A stream of white, luminous air flowed from the young man’s mouth, connecting to the large sphere of light like a silken thread. Before Wen Yu’s eyes, the young man took a gentle breath...

The white stream of air from his mouth acted like a straw, suddenly drawing an Energy Fluctuation from the large sphere of light.

Wen Yu perceived the instantaneous flow of energy. Within this Energy Fluctuation, he immediately detected a familiar essence...

Soul Power?

His low murmur echoed back and forth in the empty space.
