Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Following the Demon Lord’s solution, Wen Yu’s Soul Body slowly drifted back into his physical body.

The merging of the Soul Body and the physical body didn’t produce any strange changes—even after obtaining the Soul Battlefield, Wen Yu’s Soul Body’s physical qualities had already diverged from those of his physical body. At this moment, the difference was just a little greater, but there was no negative impact.

Slowly standing up, he casually moved some joints, Wen Yu closed his eyes again, carefully experiencing the surge of Soul Power, then turned his head to look at the Demon Lord.

”If you feel ready, let’s continue.”

The Demon Lord glanced at Wen Yu and then spoke.

...

The enhancement of Soul Power amplified the power of Wen Yu’s skills in his Soul Body state.

When the Soul Body reappeared and once again cast Pitch-dark Suction, the small light ball, only the size of a football, shrunk visibly to the naked eye at an incredible speed. Wen Yu felt a burst of satisfaction as if he’d stuffed a bun in his mouth, and then with a ”pop,” the light ball vanished without a trace.

At the same time, a ”ding” sound echoed.

A fragment of a broken bead from within the light ball fell to the ground.

Before Wen Yu could examine it closely, the Demon Lord, who had been sitting still, slowly opened his eyes and then stood up.

With the ”creak creak” sound of joints rubbing, the Demon Lord’s body, like a long idle machine, slowly regained vitality, then gently waved his hand, and the fragment of the bead on the ground was attracted by an unknown force, landing directly in the Demon Lord’s hand.

”What is this?”

”Soul Bead.”

With just those two simple words, the Demon Lord immediately shut his mouth, seemingly unwilling to explain more.

Wen Yu wisely chose not to ask further questions.

...

After surveying the scenery in the ground cave for a while, the Demon Lord turned around and looked at Wen Yu.

”Let’s go, come with me to the Eight Desolate Demon Palace to find Bai.”

This was a prearranged plan, so the Demon Lord didn’t care about Wen Yu’s current thoughts or feelings. With a flash of his figure, he grabbed Wen Yu’s shoulder.

Black Light blossomed from the two of them, and the next second, Wen Yu only felt his body transform into a virtual shadow, following the Demon Lord beside him, floating upward.

Until their bodies penetrated the thick layer of soil above their heads, landing on the ground.

...

Dim light slowly poured from above, and the scenery above the surface was just as Wen Yu had seen before.

However, the pervasive stench and blood odor that hung in the air made Wen Yu frown deeply.

In the state of Soul Perception, Wen Yu keenly sensed that the concentration of Demonic Qi on the surface had surged again, and at the same time, the air was filled with an intense killing intent that made Wen Yu extremely uncomfortable.

”The war has begun… So many people have died…”

Wen Yu softly said, the situation he was sensing now was just like when the Demon Beasts besieged the Yanjing Assembly Site—even ordinary people could sense the tense and strange atmosphere under the war. How could someone of Wen Yu’s capability not sense it?

”No, it’s not a war.”

The Demon Lord’s deep voice rang out, then he closed his eyes, deploying his full Perception Ability.

”Interesting little fellow, come, I’ll take you to see him first.”

After speaking, the Demon Lord slowly opened his eyes, heading directly in a certain direction.

”But, what about Heavenly Dao…”

”No need to worry, even if Heavenly Dao is a Level 11 transcendent powerful expert, he can’t do as he pleases here. You might be underestimating the strength of these Demon Tribe members; although a Level 11 powerful expert is unattainable, some of the Level 10 limit breakthrough demon spawn are also not to be taken lightly. The level isn’t an insurmountable chasm for a Breakthrough Achiever. If Heavenly Dao attempts any major moves, there will be demon fiends to intercept him.”

...

Wen Yu didn’t know how strong the Demon Lord’s Perception Ability was, but with his own skyrocketing Soul Power, Wen Yu believed the range of his Soul Perception Ability was already vast enough.

However, it still didn’t help Wen Yu find the ”interesting little fellow” the Demon Lord mentioned…

Closely following the Demon Lord, their speed increased until Wen Yu had to employ the Netherworld to barely keep up.

And along the way, Wen Yu also noticed some oddities.

Theoretically, this place was the rear of the Demon Tribe’s territory, and there should be plenty of demon fiends here. Yet, not only did Wen Yu not sense the presence of the Demon Tribe, but even the aura of life was nearly absent.

Until the sporadic demon beast corpses lay scattered by the roadside—a sight of charred burn marks, seemingly torn apart by brutal beasts, and a battleground environment akin to an earthquake aftermath.

A glimmer of realization slowly grew in the corner of Wen Yu’s mind…

”How long did I stay in the Ground Cave?”

”It’s been fifteen days…”

...

Fifteen days is neither too long nor too short.

However, in the Demon Tribe’s occupied area, this time was exceedingly long—fifteen days is enough time for even the most sluggish Demon Tribe members to realize that some ”foreign objects” have infiltrated their territory, leading to investigations, counter-hunts…

For the natives of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes entering this place, what this means goes without saying.

The blood stench ahead grew more potent, and the number of corpses on the ground increased, not only demon fiends, but Wen Yu even found the corpses of three Universe of Immortals and Heroes natives on the ground.

They didn’t die from a demon fiend assault but were violently killed by a living being, their necks twisted, and their collapsed direction matched that of the surrounding demon fiends’ corpses—Universe of Immortals and Heroes natives and demon fiends perished at the hands of the same individual.

Silently, Wen Yu stepped past the increasing piles of corpses and flowing rivers of blood until a gigantic city appeared before his eyes.

...

The dark city appeared sinister, countless sharp spikes protruding from the walls, enveloping the entire city like a hedgehog.

However, the city that was only slightly smaller than the Yanjing Assembly Site in front of Wen Yu had its gates violently blasted open, and the wall facing Wen Yu was already shattered into broken ruins. From the gap, the interior of the city was clearly visible—a jumbled mass of demon beast corpses piled nearly ten meters high, and the pervading blood stained the entire ground pitch-black, even spreading out an unusual glossy shine under artificial light, resembling water reflections.

And at the heart of the city, a towering corpse tower ascended to the sky, with a not particularly tall figure seated atop it.

Perhaps sensing the figures in the distance, the person atop the tower slowly raised his head…

Wen Yu only felt a fierce aura rush toward him, powerful Physical Strength spreading around, forming waves of tangible force, and the next moment, Wen Yu seemed to hear a drum-like heartbeat…

The figure at the top of the tower slowly stood up, and seeing this, Wen Yu sighed quietly.

”Just how many times has this guy died…”

...

”You know that person?”

Hearing the Demon Lord’s question, Wen Yu nodded.

”Such intense blood stench, such strong killing intent, such robust physical qualities, tsk tsk, since you know him, I won’t go over. You handle the problem here, I’ll set up a teleportation array formation here. After you’re finished here, come find me.”
