Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

A dim light constantly gushed forth from his body, flickering faintly as if it were about to collapse. His physical body, beside him, remained in a pathetic, prone posture on the ground.

”Truly feel this sensation!”

The Demon Lord’s voice reached him. Then, a majestic surge of Soul Energy was instantly infused into Wen Yu’s body, and the energy field spreading around him immediately stabilized.

A familiar yet foreign feeling burst forth from the depths of his soul. Lowering his head, Wen Yu observed countless strange patterns appearing from thin air upon his Soul Body. These patterns slowly surged towards the runes of the Soul Battlefield on his forehead.

Carefully experiencing this sensation, Wen Yu waited until the runes calmed down before slowly opening his eyes. His Soul Body then gradually assimilated into his physical body.

”Soul Battlefield!”

The next second, a faint current erupted from within Wen Yu and subsequently spread around him.

Under the influence of this energy, Wen Yu’s Soul Body naturally drifted out. Similarly, the Soul Body of the Demon Lord before him was pulled out by a rule-like force.

The Soul Battlefield completely ignored level differences.

...

”Very good, exactly like that. It was worth spending three days teaching you these things…” the Demon Lord said, smiling as he looked at Wen Yu’s Soul Body and the strange runes on its forehead symbolizing the Soul Battlefield. He then licked the corner of his mouth, a peculiar glint flashing in his eyes.

”Three days?” Wen Yu asked, somewhat surprised.

”Yes, mastering the changes of the Soul Battlefield in three days is already quite fast…”

”Next, there’s the final step.”

After the Demon Lord finished speaking, his Soul Body suddenly shivered. The next second, a blurry silhouette split from the Demon Lord’s Soul Body and landed directly on the ground.

”Let me teach you the combat mode in the Soul State!” the Demon Lord declared, standing in place and lightly snapping his fingers.

With the Demon Lord’s actions, the separated Soul Body beside him immediately underwent a change.

The aura shifted from weak to strong as specks of light separated from the Soul Body, gradually transforming into seven orbs of light of varying sizes.

Wen Yu could perceive that, whether it was Soul Strength or skills, the Soul Body before him was not much different from a normal Level 7 professionist.

”The Skill System I created is founded on the Soul Battlefield, with Soul Strike as its primary support. Now, I will explain the power of this ability system to you in detail!”

”Suppose you’re facing an opponent and you use the Soul Battlefield. Their Soul Body will be directly torn from their physical form. Subsequently, their body, now soulless, will transform into a lump of dead flesh. At this moment, the Soul War has begun.”

”Do you see the skill orb beside the opponent’s Soul Body?”

Wen Yu nodded.

”If the opponent has Soul Skills, in the Soul Battlefield, the orb representing that skill will shine much brighter than a normal skill orb, like this one…”

After the Demon Lord finished speaking, he pointed to an orb on the dummy Soul Body beside him. The next second, the orb suddenly lit up.

”In this situation, you can choose to destroy the skill orb first, or you can opt to directly kill the Soul Body. Do whatever is more convenient. However, under normal circumstances, I prefer to destroy the skill orb, because…”

After the Demon Lord finished, he lightly waved his right hand. The shining skill orb suddenly appeared in the hand of his Soul Body.

Then, the Demon Lord squeezed...

BANG!

The skill orb immediately exploded, scattering a burst of twinkling white light.

”The Skill Mark is blatantly exposed, without any defense. In this situation, destroying a skill orb is as simple as popping a balloon!”

”Of course, this combat method is not without weaknesses…”

”For example…”

With another wave of the Demon Lord’s hand, the aura of the soul dummy surged instantly, reaching a level that made Wen Yu’s heart tremble.

”The strength of a Soul Body depends on the physical constitution of its corresponding body. If you insist on using the Soul Battlefield to confront opponents tens or even hundreds of times stronger than you, even the most powerful Skill System cannot bridge such a gap.”

After the Demon Lord finished speaking and slowly dispersed the soul dummies around him, he looked at Wen Yu, who was deep in thought, and spoke again.

”When you use Soul Strike to imprint skills within your Soul Body, you’ve essentially seized control of their essence. Each skill can then exhibit unimaginable effects. The methods for applying Soul Strike and the Soul Battlefield that I just taught you are merely basic skill extensions. You can explore and master the rest on your own…

”For instance, how to use your soul pet’s skills to augment yourself within the Soul Battlefield…

”Or, another example…

”How to use an enemy’s skills to augment yourself.”

After the Demon Lord finished speaking, his Soul Body shone brightly. In the next moment, he appeared directly in front of Wen Yu.

Swiftly extending his right hand, the Demon Lord grabbed the runes representing Dislimning (S-class, Active Skill) within Wen Yu’s Soul Body and tugged gently!

A pain akin to his soul being torn from his body erupted instantaneously. Wen Yu felt a shock ripple through his Soul Body, a sensation of something vital being lost. Then, he saw the Demon Lord pressing the runes representing Dislimning directly onto his own Soul Body.

The power of Soul Strike erupted instantly. The runes of Dislimning collided with the Demon Lord’s Soul Body tens, even hundreds, of times. Then, the Dislimning skill was directly imprinted by the Demon Lord into his own Soul Body!

”This is…”

”Another function of Soul Strike: to deprive, then assimilate...

”Of course, since our souls are fundamentally different, I can only maintain this skill for a very short time after extracting it and placing it onto myself. Afterward, the skill’s runes will collapse and turn into unabsorbable Soul Energy. However, your soul pets are different…

”With the Soul Connection between a Soul Master and their soul pet, if you extract a skill from your soul pet, place it on yourself, and manage the time well, you can even reattach it to them. Plus, this method isn’t limited by skill slots…

”Therefore… the Soul Master profession is, in fact, the most suitable for utilizing this Soul Skill System. If you wish, you can augment yourself with all of your soul pets’ skills!

”With every level you gain, others acquire one new skill, while you gain access to *all* the skills possessed by your soul pets. Moreover, in the Soul Battlefield, others’ skills are often unusable. Even if they can be used, you can easily destroy them, while all ofyour skills function perfectly.

”This is an ability system that is practically unbeatable, far surpassing almost all other skill systems…”

Having heard all this, Wen Yu pondered for a moment, then looked at the Demon Lord with a peculiar expression.

”So, I don’t have Dislimning anymore…”

Looking at Wen Yu’s distressed expression, which hid a touch of cunning, the Demon Lord smiled and shook his head.

”Yes, it was just a small experiment. In a while, I will give you something better.”

”That’s great!” Wen Yu exclaimed, laughing and nodding.

...

Wen Yu was not hesitant about asking for things, even though the Demon Lord had just taught him a great deal.

He was beginning to sense that something was off…

This person called ”Demon Lord” wasn’t a chance encounter; the Almighty Demon Vine must have deliberately brought me to him!

Just now, while his soul was outside his body, he had clearly seen some things he normally couldn’t…

The being before him had Soul Strength roughly at Level 7, but there were as many as twelve skill runes entwined around his Soul Body! Normally, a professionist only gained one skill per level, yet this being had twelve… Considering what this being had just said, and this brand-new ability system seemingly tailor-made for him…

Wen Yu began to form a rough hypothesis about the Demon Lord’s identity.

He never believed his luck was *that* good, nor did he believe that love or hate in this world could exist without reason... If this being was giving him benefits, he must be plotting something, if not now, then in the distant future. Scheming, always scheming. He’s scheming against me, and while I can’t do anything about it now, surely it’s not too much to ask for some benefits, right?

The Demon Lord’s reaction was just as Wen Yu had expected; he showed no surprise.

He probably didn’t think giving me a skill was a big deal. Or rather, giving me a skill was likely part of his plan from the start…
