Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

A black light instantly shot into Luo Hai’s body. Suspended in mid-air, Luo Hai had no way to react!

Beside Wen Yu, Tang Haofei, his body now shimmering with blue and yellow light, also understood. From now on, this is an open and decisive battle, he thought. If we win, all will be well. If we lose, this situation will be difficult to control...

Fortunately, Wen Yu’s Soul Battlefield did not disappoint Tang Haofei.

Luo Hai, struck by Wen Yu’s Soul Battlefield, saw his eyes instantly glaze over. Before his body could hit the ground, his appearance had already begun to change. His features gradually morphed into Wen Yu’s. By the time he landed, Luo Hai had vanished completely, transformed entirely into nourishment for the Soul Battlefield.

Witnessing this, Tang Haofei slowly let out a breath of relief. Wen Yu, having just landed, didn’t linger. He immediately turned to the dumbfounded members of Luo Hai’s squad nearby and unleashed another Soul Battlefield at them! With two more people behind him, Wen Yu gave no thought to the issue of harvesting Origin Energy from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes.

Just as Wen Yu activated the Soul Battlefield and charged into the Soul Space of one of Luo Hai’s squad members, Tang Haofei, below, was pricking up his ears, carefully trying to distinguish the faint sounds carrying from the distance, attempting to discern the state of battles elsewhere from these noises.

However, in the next second, Tang Haofei’s eyes froze.

Directly in front of him, at the very spot where Luo Hai had just been annihilated, a figure slowly materialized in mid-air. It rapidly solidified and instantly transformed into Luo Hai’s likeness!

Book of Life and Death (Esoteric Level item): A supreme treasure of the Heaven Court. Any life form from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes whose name is signed in the Book of Life and Death will receive the right to one Resurrection. When this life is consumed, they can sign their name in the Book of Life and Death again to receive another right to Resurrection!

The Heaven Court is the most powerful sect in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes. Da Luo is the helmsman of the Heaven Court, and Luo Hai is his son. It had to be said, as a second-generation sect leader’s son, Luo Hai had been ahead from the starting line since birth.

Luo Hai, resurrected in mid-air, quickly turned his head. He first glanced at his squadmate to the side, who had been hit by the Soul Battlefield. At this moment, the squadmate’s body had already begun to change, meaning the victor of the Soul War had been decided. The result was self-evident.

Then, looking at Tang Haofei on the ground, who had already assumed an attack stance, Luo Hai grinned, revealing a savage smile.

”You’ve shown your hand!!!”

The next second, Luo Hai stretched his right hand towards Wen Yu’s direction and roared, ”Heaven’s Sealing!”

Dazzling golden light radiated from Luo Hai’s hand, shooting directly at Wen Yu, who was in the midst of his ”transformation.” Simultaneously, Tang Haofei pushed off with his feet, his entire body soaring upwards, and landed a punch on Luo Hai!

Luo Hai, taking Tang Haofei’s heavy punch, was sent flying. However, Luo Hai’s skill had struck Wen Yu true!

Heaven’s Sealing (Species-specific Esoteric Level, Active Skill): Evolved from the Heaven Court’s Ultimate Revered Cultivation Technique—the Heaven’s Sealing Art. Because the cultivation conditions for the Heaven’s Sealing Art were too demanding, the twenty-third generation leader of the Heaven Court used a page from the Heaven Court’s supreme treasure—the Wordless Heavenly Scripture—as a scroll to modify it into this skill.

Skill Effects: At the cost of this skill itself being sealed, it seals all of the opponent’s skills. Duration: Indefinite. The skill’s effect can only be lifted when one of the two parties dies!

Note: This skill cannot be used on life forms of a higher level than the user!

Note: This skill cannot be used on life forms whose physical constitution is more than twice that of the user!

Although the conditions for activating Heaven’s Sealing were relatively harsh, Wen Yu was no match for Luo Hai in terms of either level or physical constitution! Moreover, this skill’s effect was supremely powerful—sacrificing one skill to disable several of the opponent’s skills was truly a worthwhile trade!

All of this happened within a few short seconds. By the time Wen Yu landed on the ground, everything was already a foregone conclusion. Wen Yu’s greatest trump card, the Soul Battlefield, was sealed.

He quickly tested his skills, but the outcome made his heart sink to the depths. Dislimning (S-class skill, Active Skill), Soul Battlefield (Species-specific Esoteric Level, Active Skill), Pitch-dark Absorption (S-class, Active Ability), and Pitch-dark Divine Light (SSS-Class, Active Ability) had all failed. The only one I couldn’t test, Soul Strike (S-class, Passive Skill), is presumably unusable as well... Wen Yu thought.

One skill from Luo Hai has taken away five of my abilities, Wen Yu mused. If I weren’t the victim, I’d genuinely have to give Luo Hai props for that!

After this brief test, Wen Yu quickly shifted his attention elsewhere. His Perception Ability from the Netherworld still existed, and Wen Yu still possessed absolute control over the Netherworld. Luo Hai’s skill had not sealed the abilities Wen Yu gained from his soul pet. Undeniably, in the current situation, this is a glimmer of hope in a desperate plight, he acknowledged.

The power of the Netherworld slowly began to activate. Without knowing the specifics of Luo Hai’s skill, my only option now is to retreat—escape first and figure things out later! Wen Yu decided.

However, Luo Hai’s next words extinguished Wen Yu’s desire to flee.

”Your teleportation ability wasn’t sealed?” a questioning voice rang out from afar.

”Oh, I remember now. Your profession is called Soul Master, right? I recall something about it!”

Although the Soul Master profession is rare, it’s not unheard of. After all, there are already two known on Earth, and over the countless eons in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, far more Soul Masters have emerged than just a few.

”Also, Your Highness the Young Master,” Luo Hai continued, ”this humble one has a piece of advice for you. You’d best not be in a hurry to leave just yet. Hear me out first, and then you can decide whether to stay or go. It won’t be too late.”

Seeing Luo Hai, who had been sent flying by Tang Haofei’s punch, leisurely get up in the distance and calmly adjust his attire, Wen Yu hesitated for a moment before slowing the Netherworld’s teleportation power.

”I originally thought that His Highness the Young Master dealt with Heluo’s squad using some life-saving measures left behind by the Almighty Immortal Emperor. But I didn’t expect it to be a skill...”

”And moreover, Your Highness the Young Master...”

Even from a great distance, Wen Yu could still see the strange expression on Luo Hai’s face.

”Your Soul Strength... it doesn’t seem like that of a native from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes... Tsk tsk, no wonder Lord Heaven’s Path ordered me to eliminate you, hehe...”

”Spit it out if you have something to say! I’m in a hurry!” Wen Yu snapped.

Luo Hai shrugged, completely ignoring Wen Yu’s outburst, and continued in his unhurried manner, ”This sealing skill of mine has an indefinite duration. If one of us dies, the seal will automatically be lifted. That’s why I wanted you to hear me out.”

”Ahem, now, Your Highness the Young Master, I shall give you the choice. If you don’t want to fight, you can leave now. It’s not like I can stop you anyway...”

Looking at Luo Hai’s smug, punchable expression, Wen Yu surprisingly calmed down. Leave? With all my skills gone, where could I possibly go? As long as Luo Hai remains alive, I’ll be five skills short. If Luo Hai never dies, wouldn’t I become a cripple? I can’t tell if Luo Hai is telling the truth or not. But in this situation, I absolutely dare not gamble on it, nor can I afford to lose such a gamble! Therefore, in this matter, I have no choice—I have to eliminate Luo Hai right here, right now!

He instantly dispelled the Netherworld teleportation’s Energy Fluctuations he had been preparing. Then, Wen Yu rummaged through his space ring, casually took out an Esoteric Level elixir pill for restoring stamina, and began to chew it heartily, not forgetting to engage in some trash talk with Luo Hai.

”You’ve got guts, risking your own life to probe my trump cards. Aren’t you afraid that some accident might happen and you’ll end up dead right here?”

”Afraid? Of course, I’m afraid! How could I not be?” Luo Hai readily admitted his fear, then winked at Wen Yu. ”However, Your Highness the Young Master, perhaps you’ve forgotten who I’m working for now, and who my old man is. Things like escape methods, resurrection tools... this humble one may not be exceptionally talented, but I can still cough up three or five of those. With so many assets, if I didn’t dare to take this gamble, then what would be the point of all my efforts?”

His words made sense. Compared to Wen Yu, the imposter, Luo Hai’s family background and status were perhaps more befitting of a Young Master.

By now, Luo Hai had finished adjusting his attire, once again resuming his sharp, capable, and elite demeanor. As Luo Hai walked forward step by step, his confident and fearless attitude made Wen Yu instantly realize that Luo Hai’s earlier words were true. This guy isn’t afraid even if my Soul Battlefield wasn’t sealed! There can only be one reason: he has other life-saving measures!
