Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”BOOM!”

”BOOM! BOOM!”

The continuous explosions were driving Wen Yu up the wall.

Looking at the plant mass before him, trembling violently as it was ensnared by the Almighty Demon Vine, and hearing the ceaseless explosions from within, Wen Yu sighed silently.

Fact is, no plan or tactic is perfect. In any given situation, there are often many unforeseen complications.

Like the Demon Fiend in front of Wen Yu.

「...」

Originally, Wen Yu’s strategy was quite successful. He used the same tactic three times in a row, and it worked flawlessly every time. The captured Demon Fiend couldn’t even manage a whimper before it was controlled by the power of the Netherworld and the Almighty Demon Vine, becoming Wen Yu’s nourishment.

But when Wen Yu tried for the fourth time, things deviated a bit.

The Demon Fiend before him seemed to have a passive ability that triggered whenever it was attacked. A loud noise in the form of an Energy Wave would resonate from its body. This Energy Wave wasn’t particularly strong and couldn’t even break the strangulation of the Almighty Demon Vine, but its sound was as tremendous as a thunderclap. Wen Yu didn’t need to guess to know that the demon fiend patrol squad, dozens of kilometers away, would definitely hear what was happening here.

Victor’s warning confirmed this.

”Boss, those Demon Fiends have stopped.”

”I know.”

Wen Yu responded casually, then shot out a wave of darkness energy towards the Demon Fiend still struggling before him, attempting to weaken its power inside the Almighty Demon Vine.

”We botched this one,” the Almighty Demon Vine transmitted to Wen Yu via a Spiritual Fluctuation, stating the fact in a placid tone.

”I expected that. I never thought this tactic would yield significant results anyway.”

Strictly speaking, no one was to blame for this accident. An accident, by definition, is unpredictable. Moreover, the plan Wen Yu devised was quite crude, so it wasn’t surprising that an accident occurred.

”What’s next?” the Almighty Demon Vine asked Wen Yu, as it wrapped itself around the Demon Fiend like a python, the immense force making the Demon Fiend’s bones creak.

Hearing the Almighty Demon Vine’s inquiry, Wen Yu cracked a wide smile, revealing steel teeth that reflected a cold light.

”What’s next? Of course, we butcher them!”

After saying this, Wen Yu slowly took out a compass-like device from his space ring.

On the compass, the point of light symbolizing Tang Haofei’s position was moving closer to Wen Yu...

Wen Yu had been delayed here dealing with this Demon Tribe Patrol Team, but Tang Haofei, in the distance, was not idle. After landing, Tang Haofei had been rapidly closing in on Wen Yu via the shortest route.

Given that the other teams had basically finished gathering, even if Old Tang was slow, how much slower could he be?

「...」

”Captain Hak... please... I don’t want to die...”

The team member’s pleading made Hak a bit soft-hearted, but seeing the determined actions and resolute gaze of the Cyclops beside him, Hak took a deep breath.

”Vika, it’s time to demonstrate our loyalty to the Dominator!”

After saying this, ignoring Vika’s increasingly despairing eyes, Hak motioned to the other team members to hold down Vika’s limbs. He then forcefully pressed the black, sphere-like object, handed over by the Cyclops, onto Vika’s body.

As soon as the black sphere touched the Demon Fiend’s rough Scale Armor, it immediately stuck to Vika’s body like an octopus.

It was a Demonic Qi Bomb. Depending on the amount of Demonic Qi it contained, its explosive power varied.

This little thing, for the Demon Tribe, is like a crude bomb on Earth—simple to make, but definitely not lacking in power and extremely practical.

Furthermore, Level 7 is considered an upper-middle tier in the professionist system—so the equipment a Level 7 patrol team carries, how weak could it possibly be?

When all the bombs had been placed on Vika’s body, Hak finally let out a sigh of relief. The guilt of turning a comrade into a human bomb was there, but since he had already acted, there was no use dwelling on such pointless matters.

He nodded to the Cyclops beside him, who understood Hak’s meaning and walked up slowly. His rough arms viciously grabbed Vika’s head.

”Look into my eyes!”

”No… No…”

A shrill cry escaped Vika’s mouth, but under the suppression of five stronger Demon Fiends, Vika’s struggle seemed pitiful.

The massive single eye of the Cyclops shot out strange Spiritual Fluctuations. Under their influence, Vika’s eyes became increasingly hazy and bewildered. Only when the Spirit in Vika’s eyes completely vanished did the Cyclops straighten his body.

”It’s done. Let him go.”

Hearing the Cyclops’s words, the three remaining Demon Fiends, each with physical attributes between 10,000 and 15,000, released Vika’s body.

Observing Vika’s stiff body before him, as rigid as a walking corpse, a cruel smile crept onto the Cyclops’s lips.

”This huge bomb... Let’s see if you can handle it!”

Hak, beside him, was somewhat skeptical.

”Will this plan work?”

”Definitely!”

The Cyclops was very confident in his plan!

「...」

A human bomb, huh...

All those stale tricks from Earth... It’s confirmed, the Demon Fiends under the Dominator’s command definitely aren’t all there!

Hearing the news relayed by Victor, Wen Yu made a quick guess and immediately determined the so-called strategy of this Demon Tribe Patrol Team.

Strictly speaking, Victor couldn’t possibly have seen the actions of the Demon Fiends almost twenty kilometers away very clearly, even with Night Eyes (S-Class, Passive ability). The pervasive Demonic Qi greatly affected Victor’s vision. But Victor could still vaguely distinguish the general actions of the distant Demon Fiends—five stronger ones pinning down the weakest, doing something Victor couldn’t quite make out. Considering this, along with the enemy’s awareness of Wen Yu’s tactics...

Wen Yu could guess without much thought what methods these Demon Fiends intended to use to counter the Netherworld’s teleportation power.

Recalling Victor, Wen Yu smiled and looked towards the distant demon fiend patrol squad, then turned and walked away.

Wen Yu held the absolute initiative. Although his raw power was slightly less than that of this demon fiend squad, he had no need to engage in a stalemate with them now. It would be better to rendezvous with Tang Haofei first and then directly steamroll the remaining Demon Fiends.

Thinking this, Wen Yu took out the compass in his hand.

However, the next second, Wen Yu’s brow furrowed tightly.
