Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Releasing a deep sigh, Wen Yu slowly squinted at Luo Hai, who was munching on food in front of him.

Wen Yu clearly knew the visitor harbored ill intentions, yet he had no appropriate way to respond. This was Luo Hai’s territory, and Luo Hai’s identity was well-established: he was the son of Da Luo, the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Chief.

To be honest, Luo Hai’s status might even surpass his own as Young Master. Although the Almighty Immortal Emperor was dead, Da Luo had experienced a resurrection. According to the Almighty Demon Vine, Heavenly Dao, the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance’s sole Level 11 powerful expert, was supposed to be his backing. However, he had no idea what this ”Senior Brother” Heavenly Dao was thinking, nor why he had been placed in Luo Hai’s territory. Everything remained unknown.

Ever since assuming the identity of Young Master, the smooth sailing Wen Yu had anticipated lasted only a few days before the drawbacks of this new status plunged him into a predicament.

Luo Hai continued eating, while Wen Yu, eyes narrowed, observed Luo Hai intently. Simultaneously, he attempted to communicate with the Almighty Demon Vine in his mind, hoping his ”old grandpa” figure would offer some advice.

However, the Almighty Demon Vine had merely responded with, ”Handle it yourself,” and then offered no further comment!

How am I supposed to handle it? Wen Yu wondered.

I have status, but he has powerful backing. Openly attack him? I’d probably be executed by ’my own people’ first. Moreover, as the helmsman of the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Branch on the Sixth Layer of Heavenly Palace, Luo Hai’s strength, Wen Yu had to admit, was likely superior to his own...

So, the current situation was incredibly difficult to manage.

...

The entire Sky Pole Hall fell silent for a moment, leaving only the sound of Luo Hai chewing his food.

Finishing his breakfast quickly, Luo Hai finally wiped his mouth, his large, deceptively innocent eyes staring directly at Wen Yu.

”Young Master?”

His tone was still questioning, his attitude still nonchalant.

”Hmm.”

Wen Yu responded. For fuck’s sake, don’t you have a clue whether I’m the Young Master or not? Do you need to ask a second time?

”Unfortunately, as far as I know, the Almighty Immortal Emperor actually had no Zi Xu...”

Luo Hai calmly picked up a beverage brought by an administrator. While sipping it slowly, he spoke to Wen Yu.

Hearing this, Wen Yu tensed. I know I’m a fake, he thought. And as Da Luo’s son, Luo Hai must know a considerable amount about the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s secrets.

Moreover, Luo Hai’s words clearly indicated the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance’s current attitude towards me: many within the Alliance will doubt my identity!

This was the first major challenge Wen Yu had to face!

...

”The Almighty Immortal Emperor’s life was nothing short of legendary; he rose from humble beginnings. Perhaps His Highness the Young Master is already familiar with the Immortal Emperor’s past.”

”However, I wonder if His Highness the Young Master is aware that the Almighty Immortal Emperor was initially a mortal martial artist. Before he began Cultivation, he practiced Childlike Power. Due to his extraordinary talent, he was accepted as a nominal disciple by a minor sect. Coincidentally, that sect’s cultivation method also required preserving one’s Yang essence—maintaining his virginity.”

”By the time the Almighty Immortal Emperor had successfully achieved his Immortal Dao, it was the height of the demon plague. By then, the Immortal Emperor had already become a sworn friend to my father. My father, if not privy to every detail of what happened to the Immortal Emperor subsequently, certainly knew the general outline.”

”The Immortal Emperor never had a life partner. So, I’m very curious: where exactly did you, the Young Master, pop out from?”

This barrage of questions left Wen Yu speechless.

Wen Yu knew nothing about the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s life story. Luo Hai’s account was logical and well-supported, leaving Wen Yu no way to refute it!

With thoughts racing, Wen Yu acted decisively. He retrieved his Identity Token from his space ring and slapped it firmly onto the table.

”Is this enough?”

After these two simple words, Wen Yu stared directly at Luo Hai.

Wen Yu knew he couldn’t explain. He also understood the principle that saying more could lead to more mistakes. In this situation, the most effective strategy was undoubtedly to present the Identity Token and await Luo Hai’s next move.

Looking at the Identity Token on the table, Luo Hai shook his head with a smile.

”Identity Tokens, while technologically advanced, can be duplicated if one is determined enough. In fact, there have been precedents of forged Identity Tokens in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes.”

”That’s not enough. So, I must ask again: how can you prove you are the Young Master of Heavenly Palace, the only son of the Almighty Immortal Emperor?”

Luo Hai’s words almost made Wen Yu laugh in exasperation.

This bastard is clearly just looking for a fight! Wen Yu thought, cursing himself for being foolish enough to show him the Identity Token. When dealing with someone deliberately trying to provoke you, nothing you say or show them will make a damn bit of difference!

He immediately retrieved the Identity Token from the table. A sarcastic smile played on his lips as he spoke slowly to Luo Hai.

”You don’t recognize the Identity Token, and I can’t force you. So, no, I can’t prove whether I’m the Young Master of Heavenly Palace, the only son of the Almighty Immortal Emperor.”

”But to flip the question, how do you prove you’re Da Luo’s son and not some bastard who crawled out of some obscure corner?”

”And how can you prove you’re not a complete moron?”

”How do you prove your father is your father, or your mother is your mother? Go on, tell me. How would you prove that?”

When dealing with someone deliberately looking for trouble, hitting back directly is the best approach!

I don’t give a damn what your status is. You came looking for trouble, so I’ll give it right back to you. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Besides, my identity is established. As long as Heavenly Dao says the word, no one can shake my position as Young Master. I’m calling you out, right here, right now. What can you, Luo Hai, possibly do about it?

...

Luo Hai indeed couldn’t do anything. In fact, his reaction exceeded Wen Yu’s expectations.

Taking a leisurely sip of his drink, Luo Hai’s expression remained unchanged. Even after hearing Wen Yu’s barrage of insults, he maintained a remarkably steady demeanor.

Shrugging lightly, Luo Hai spoke in a calm tone.

”So, as I was saying, this is where the problem lies.”

”You cannot prove your identity, and neither can we. However, there is someone who can.”

”Lord Heaven’s Path sent another edict yesterday. Tomorrow, Lord Heaven’s Path and my father will personally descend to this realm to ’welcome’ the Young Master. At that time, Lord Heaven’s Path will know with a single glance whether His Highness the Young Master is genuine or not.”

”To be honest, I merely had some doubts. If my words were offensive in any way, I sincerely hope His Highness the Young Master can overlook it.”

Hearing Luo Hai’s words, Wen Yu frowned and nodded slowly.

Despite Wen Yu’s fierce rebuttal, Luo Hai’s words betrayed no anger. It seemed this Luo Hai was not as simple as he appeared on the surface.
