Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Due to the Young Master’s profound understanding of the greater good and the current war situation in the Heavenly Palace, I have specially organized this Hunting Reward Program.”

”I have already clarified the general content in the program document, so I won’t elaborate further here. The duration of this Hunting Reward Program is indefinite. Once I teleport you into the Demon Tribe-occupied area, you can begin hunting freely. However, there’s one thing I must clarify.”

”You will have no backup, no retreat. To return from the Demon Tribe-occupied area, you must fight your way back, step by step! I will arrange for personnel to receive you on the front lines where the two races clash.”

After saying this, Heavenly Dao paused for a moment, then continued,

”In other words, within the Demon Tribe-occupied area, there are absolutely no means to guarantee your safety. And since you will be in enemy territory, you can estimate the risks yourselves. So, it’s not too late to withdraw now!”

Withdrawing was out of the question. Even if some felt a flicker of doubt in their hearts, they wouldn’t dare utter ”I want to withdraw” in Heavenly Dao’s presence. As natives of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, offending Heavenly Dao at this juncture? How could they possibly survive then?

Heavenly Dao, of course, paid no mind to the thoughts of those before him. He nodded slightly, a satisfied expression on his face.

”As for rewards, the magic crystals you obtain from hunting in the Demon Tribe-occupied area will be the currency for redeeming them. When you return, you can use Level 7 magic crystals at the quartermaster’s office for exchanges.”

”That’s the gist of it. Do you have any further questions?”

”None!”

A unified shout rang out from the crowd. Years of resistance against the Demon Tribe had ingrained discipline deep into everyone’s bones.

”Good. Now, close your eyes, sit where you are, and await teleportation!”

...

Watching the many professionists seated on the ground before him with their eyes closed, Heavenly Dao slowly raised a hand from which a milky-white light began to emanate.

This was the teleportation method Heavenly Dao was about to use.

However, teleportation was not Heavenly Dao’s true purpose...

A vast spiritual power rapidly radiated from his mind, secretly targeting the minds of the dozen or so pawns he had prepared in advance!

Perceiving their almost imperceptible nods, a gentle smile touched Heavenly Dao’s lips. He then turned his gaze in another direction.

There, a relatively short and slender figure, clad in a plain black robe, sat expressionlessly, awaiting the impending Hunting Reward Program.

Heavenly Dao hesitated for a moment, then another Spiritual Fluctuation was directly sent into Wen Yu’s right hand.

Imperceptibly to Wen Yu, the Almighty Demon Vine in the Soul Space within his right hand pulsed faintly. Then, a Spiritual Fluctuation was swiftly transmitted to Heavenly Dao.

Unbeknownst to anyone, Heavenly Dao and the Almighty Demon Vine had completed their covert communication.

Slowly processing the information relayed by the Almighty Demon Vine, Heavenly Dao gently closed his eyes, as if wrestling with certain dilemmas.

After a long moment, Heavenly Dao let out an almost inaudible sigh, and his composure returned.

”Teleportation commencing!”

Words imbued with a heart-soothing power flowed from Heavenly Dao’s mouth, reaching the ears of everyone present. Following that, Wen Yu felt an immense force violently tearing at his body.

...

The force tearing at his body came quickly and departed just as fast.

When Wen Yu felt the external Energy Fluctuations gradually fade and a strong, putrid smell assaulted his nostrils, he quickly opened his eyes, rapidly scanning his surroundings.

His identity as Young Master might be false, but his status as Earth’s strongest Independent was undeniably real!

Now alone, his powerful adaptability and alertness to danger resurfaced within Wen Yu!

Indeed... He was completely alone...

Surveying the barren mountains around him and the faint black Demonic Qi that was almost condensing into mist, Wen Yu slowly closed his eyes, carefully sensing for any signs of life.

However, forget teammates; there wasn’t even a single Demon Fiend.

The situation was clear: Wen Yu had been separated from Tang Haofei. Everyone’s teleportation destination was random!

...

”Random teleportation, as expected.”

Wen Yu sighed, then quickly retrieved a compass-like item from his space ring.

When discussing their strategy in the private room earlier, Wen Yu and Tang Haofei had anticipated that Heavenly Dao might use random teleportation, so Wen Yu was not entirely unprepared for this situation.

After carefully observing the compass in his hand for a while, Wen Yu determined Tang Haofei’s direction. He then transformed into a dim grey light, slowly merging into the pervasive Demonic Qi and rapidly drifting towards Tang Haofei.

...

The composition of Demonic Qi was unknown; at least with Earth’s current scientific research capabilities and level, it was not yet possible to analyze its various components.

Wen Yu didn’t know if the Universe of Immortals and Heroes could analyze it, nor did he concern himself with such matters. However, it was undeniable that the current density and concentration of Demonic Qi in the Demon Tribe-occupied zone on the seventh floor of the Heavenly Palace brought Wen Yu some minor troubles as well as insignificant aid.

His Perception Ability was greatly suppressed—both his physical senses and spiritual perception were disrupted by the omnipresent Demonic Qi.

This provided excellent support for Wen Yu’s concealment, but on the other hand, it also indirectly increased the danger of his surroundings.

Who knew if some overwhelmingly powerful Demon Fiend, also excelling in concealment, might suddenly pop out and swat him into paste!

Fortunately, as an Independent, Wen Yu was not only proficient in using his own strength and Perception Ability, but he also knew some minor tricks that powerful experts would deem ”unpresentable.”

...

The black mist drifted slowly until, at a certain point, Wen Yu, who had transformed into the black mist, gradually came to a halt.

The mist slowly condensed, and in the next second, Wen Yu’s body reappeared on the ground.

After observing his surroundings and ensuring there was no danger, Wen Yu lowered his head.

Dozens of clear footprints lay before Wen Yu.

”Ten Demon Fiends, strength unknown. Three types of footprints, likely a mixed Demon Tribe squad composed of three different races. Direction...”

”Straight ahead!”

And straight ahead was his necessary path! After briefly considering his options, Wen Yu directly activated his 5th Soul Realm.

”MEOW...”

A tender, childlike meow came from Victor. Coupled with his pure black fur and undeniably noble appearance, he would undoubtedly have made countless girls’ hearts flutter before the apocalypse.

However, Victor’s next words instantly revealed his true nature.

”This damn Soul Realm space is suffocating me!”

...

The moment Victor appeared, he grumbled resentfully before immediately tensing up, entering a state of alert.

He scanned the surroundings with narrowed eyes, but a second later, Victor’s fur bristled, making his entire body seem a size larger as if his fur had exploded.

”You’ve come to the Demon Realm?”

The terrifying amount of Demonic Qi in the surrounding air made Victor extremely uncomfortable. Judging by the current Demonic Qi concentration alone, even a Level 1 professionist would be instantly corrupted by the omnipresent Demonic Qi upon entering this space, mutating into an ugly, disgusting zombie.

”The seventh floor of the Heavenly Palace, the Demon Tribe-occupied zone!”

These ten simple words explained the current situation.

Seeing Wen Yu’s no-nonsense attitude, Victor also realized that Wen Yu, in a combat-ready state, was different from his usual self.

At this moment, Wen Yu was entirely focused, in no mood to banter with his soul pet.

Victor’s feline nose twitched fiercely a couple of times. The olfactory senses of cats and dogs aren’t vastly different. Furthermore, with the enhancement from his divine beast lineage, Victor’s sense of smell alone was actually superior to Cyclops’s!

Moreover, Victor’s concealment ability was significantly better than Cyclops’s, which was why Wen Yu hadn’t summoned Cyclops, aiming to remain as hidden as possible.

After carefully distinguishing the smells in the air for a while, Victor slowly shook his head.

”I can’t smell anything. The Demonic Qi content in the air is too high; it’s affecting my sense of smell.”

”Look at the footprints on the ground. Find the target’s direction.”

Hearing Wen Yu’s command, Victor shifted his gaze to the ground.

After crouching and examining the ground for a moment, Victor looked up.

”Straight ahead, but still no discoveries.”

”Sigh...”

The extreme environment was causing Wen Yu considerable trouble. He casually placed Victor on his shoulder, and his body instantly transformed into black mist, enveloping Victor as he slowly drifted forward.

Change direction? Impossible! Who knew if changing course would lead to even greater dangers? At least for now, he was the one who had discovered the enemy’s tracks first. If a battle erupted, he would hold the initiative!

At this moment, Wen Yu had made up his mind—he would continue towards Tang Haofei’s location via the shortest route.

As for the risks along the way, he would avoid them if he could. If not, then it would simply be a matter of whose fist was harder!
