Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Everything is clear now...

Why the Almighty Demon Vine, which had originally begged me to enter the Heavenly Palace Treasure Land, now grows ever more aloof as I ascend. And a few days ago, when I hadn’t gained the title of ’Young Master of the Heavenly Palace’, the Almighty Demon Vine was always ambiguous about this identity. It turns out the Almighty Demon Vine was embarrassed! Because all these things were waiting for me here!

Wen Yu was utterly helpless, and he even stuttered as he struggled to speak.

”You must be joking! How could the Almighty Immortal Emperor possibly absorb the Soul Mark of his enemy into the Soul Bead? You must be joking...”

To the current Wen Yu, there seemed to be no difference between a Level 11 powerful expert and a Dominator.

”This is the condition for the Demon Path to participate in the war.”

The Almighty Demon Vine’s simple sentence completely eradicated Wen Yu’s struggles.

The next second, Wen Yu decisively took out the teleportation jade charm from his space ring. I won’t play anymore! I’ve taken enough benefits! Under tremendous risk, Wen Yu decisively thought of leaving the Heavenly Palace!

However, in the blink of an eye, Tang Haofei, who was standing nearby, quickly took action. His right hand, like a bolt of lightning, instantly grabbed Wen Yu’s hand holding the teleportation jade charm.

”Wen Yu, what are you daydreaming about? And this thing... you’re not planning to leave, are you? That’s not possible! If you leave, where will I fill my space ring?”

Looking at Old Tang’s stubborn gaze, Wen Yu fell completely silent. An Esoteric Level skill scroll from the military wasn’t easy to obtain!

「...」

”Alright, pack up your things,” the Almighty Demon Vine said lazily to Wen Yu.

”I will stop keeping secrets from you now. Up there, the Almighty Immortal Emperor has prepared at least two Esoteric Level skills and a super treasure for you. Whether you want them or not is up to you!”

”This is useless! Do you know what’s the worst? Having money but no life to spend it!”

”Even if you want to die, it’s not that easy. The other faction of the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance wouldn’t dare to act against you openly. Do you think the Heavenly Dao is easy to handle? That entity definitely doesn’t hesitate to kill!”

”Moreover, you are the Young Master of the Heavenly Palace, the only son of the Almighty Immortal Emperor. If you are really killed by Bai, where would the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance’s face go? Also, in my view, you don’t need to worry too much about Bai.”

”What do you mean?”

As for the other faction of the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance, I’m not very worried. With my Senior Brother—the number one expert in the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance—backing me, I’m unlikely to encounter any great danger within the Alliance. The real trouble is Bai. A Level 11 transcendent powerful expert who holds a blood feud against the Almighty Immortal Emperor for killing his son. Well, you killed my son, so I’ll kill your son. Is that too much? That’s considered normal. If my son were killed by someone else, I would definitely wipe out the killer’s entire family!

The Almighty Demon Vine slowly explained to Wen Yu, ”Bai is a very interesting person. He definitely won’t attack you himself. What you need to deal with are only those minor Demon Cultivators who want to curry favor with Bai.”

”Hehe, Level 10 minor Demon Cultivators. So small, so weak. I can wipe them out with a wave of my hand, right?”

The Almighty Demon Vine ignored Wen Yu’s sarcastic remark and continued, revealing another worrying situation.

”There is another problem concerning the Demon Fiends in the Heavenly Palace. The Demon Fiends inside the treasure land are usually bred by a Dominator and are similar to puppets. Their intelligence is lower than that of the Demon Tribe in the outside world, but their combat power is not diminished in the slightest.”

”You’re now aware of how much trouble your identity as the Young Master of the Heavenly Palace attracts. Similarly, because your strength is so weak and your status so high, you will definitely be targeted by the Demon Tribe. You may not see any formidable Demon Tribe members on the sixth level, but the higher you go, the stronger and more numerous they will be. This is something you’ll need to handle by yourself!”

That talk about attracting trouble was nonsense; everything else the Almighty Demon Vine said was true, but it was purely fooling Wen Yu about the Demon Tribe. The so-called targeted attacks by the Demon Tribe were actually all because of the Almighty Demon Vine itself! But mixing truth with lies is more convincing—at least, Wen Yu found the Almighty Demon Vine’s reasons plausible.

I’m Level 5, and although I’m a Breakthrough Achiever, I’m still just a small fry in the eyes of higher-level powerful experts. Yet, my status is absurdly high! Two races at war, a war of extermination! If they don’t kill someone like me, who would they kill?

A long sigh escaped him...

Wen Yu didn’t even have the energy to complain anymore, but the Almighty Demon Vine’s words made him slowly loosen his grip on the teleportation jade charm.

Power I desire, and life I also desire. But when I cannot possess both...

Thinking of the tragic fate of the Almighty Immortal Emperor and the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, Wen Yu lamented internally.

Instead of leaving now, I might as well die here. Rather than living an obscure life outside, dying on the path of pursuing power might not be such a bad end. As I’ve said, in this current situation, there’s no difference between dying sooner or later. The apocalypse isn’t a peaceful era filled with all sorts of enjoyments. For most people in this post-apocalyptic world, dying early might actually be better than dying late! Of course, these are just my pessimistic thoughts. I’ll have to go up and see what the actual situation is!

「...」

Seeing Wen Yu’s grip on the jade charm gradually relax, Tang Haofei also slowly released his hand.

Only after Wen Yu had put the teleportation jade charm back into his space ring did Tang Haofei ask in confusion, ”What were you doing just now? Why were you acting so strangely?”

”Nothing, I was just thinking about some things.”

The Almighty Demon Vine had been inhabiting Wen Yu’s right hand, and Wen Yu had never summoned it in front of Tang Haofei. So, naturally, Tang Haofei couldn’t have guessed that an ”old man” was currently residing in Wen Yu’s body!

After observing Wen Yu curiously for another moment, Tang Haofei finally looked away. Ask what should be asked, and don’t ask what shouldn’t be asked. Tang Haofei naturally understood this principle. Moreover, Wen Yu’s strange behavior and the origin of his identity definitely fell into the category of unaskable questions.

Wen Yu, in turn, looked at Tang Haofei beside him. I have to say, it’s only now that I realize bringing Tang Haofei along was an unexpectedly good decision. I’ve already estimated his combat strength. In our current predicament, Tang Haofei’s power is extremely important. The natives of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, with their numerous factions, can’t be trusted. Compared to them, Tang Haofei actually seems more reliable.

He exhaled deeply, looked at the teleportation array formation in front of them, and said to Tang Haofei in a low voice, ”Be careful once we’re up there.”

Before Tang Haofei could react, Wen Yu had already stepped into the teleportation array formation.
