Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Alliance Chief Da Luo, don’t be hasty. I already have a plan regarding this matter...”

”Plan? What plan do you have? You’re just coveting Tongtian’s legacy, coveting the Heaven-covering Banner! You’re quite something! Now, as the most powerful expert of the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, your wings have truly hardened!”

Da Luo, at his side, could no longer control the volume of his voice, staring fiercely at Heavenly Dao’s emotionless face, his own face icy, his tone filled with uncontrollable anger.

Da Luo’s anger didn’t seem feigned to Wen Yu, but this only confused Wen Yu further—his backing was supposed to be gone, yet, unexpectedly, the man he thought was an enemy stood up for him.

The twists and turns of right and wrong left Wen Yu speechless; he could only uneasily watch the dispute between Da Luo and Heavenly Dao.

”As Luo Hai said, the Heaven-covering Banner can only realize its greatest value in my hands. If given to the Young Master, considering the current ferocity of the war, the risk of the banner being lost will be greatly increased. Alliance Chief Da Luo, you must understand, one Heaven-covering Banner is enough to ensure that Outer Space won’t fall for 10,000 years!”

”That may be so, but now...” Da Luo wanted to say more but was interrupted by a wave of Heavenly Dao’s hand.

”Alliance Chief Da Luo, it’s better to live ignobly than to die a hero! This second chance at life wasn’t easy to come by. Even if you don’t want it, the billions of reborn dead souls from our Universe of Immortals and Heroes are overjoyed by it! For the greater good of the entire Universe of Immortals and Heroes, it’s best you abandon your personal feelings as soon as possible!”

Righteousness, personal feelings... Everything confused Wen Yu enormously.

But Da Luo, upon hearing Heavenly Dao’s words, his face darkened, and he said no more, merely shot a fierce glare at Luo Hai.

Not a hint of fear showed on Luo Hai’s face; he just sat respectfully to the side, his head bowed, revealing nothing of his thoughts.

Heavenly Dao looked at Da Luo, then turned to Wen Yu beside him, and continued speaking, his expression unchanged.

”The Heaven-covering Banner is with me. Considering its role and importance to the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, this treasure cannot be returned to you for now, Junior Brother. I hope Junior Brother can understand my difficult position.”

With that said, Heavenly Dao looked directly at Wen Yu.

Under Heavenly Dao’s gaze, Wen Yu had to reluctantly say, ”Junior Brother understands...”

”Mm.” Having received the answer he was satisfied with, Heavenly Dao nodded, his expression unchanging, and then spoke again.

”Also, regarding the resources Almighty Immortal Emperor left for you, Junior Brother, they are currently all under my control. There’s an enormous quantity, and they are of various types. In my opinion, you may not be able to absorb all of these in a short time. Since the war in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes is currently so intense, in my view, it would be better to distribute these resources and items to all the warriors in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes to deal with the current situation!”

”What do you think, Junior Brother?”

One sentence, one question, and just like that, all of Wen Yu’s benefits were stripped away!

”You...” Wen Yu stared speechlessly at Heavenly Dao before him, until a spiritual fluctuation transmitted into his mind:

”Think carefully before you answer. Don’t forget your place. Do you truly consider me your caring Senior Brother?”

The blatant threat immediately turned Wen Yu’s face pale. The ’deep brotherly love’ he had imagined never materialized; instead, it was replaced by Heavenly Dao’s almost undisguised malice.

Wen Yu didn’t know where this malice stemmed from. Furthermore, the Almighty Demon Vine showed no signs of activity at this moment. After only a split second of thought, Wen Yu respectfully said to Heavenly Dao,

”All will be as Senior Brother decides!”

”I have an objection!”

It was Da Luo again, the enemy Wen Yu had anticipated, who stood up for him.

At this moment, Da Luo, looking sharply at Heavenly Dao, spoke in a voice only the two of them could hear.

”Heavenly Dao, your avarice is too blatant! Don’t forget what we are. The Universe of Immortals and Heroes is gone, and we’ve all become wraiths, reduced to mere ’tool characters.’ For you to do this...”

”It’s precisely because we’ve all become ’tool characters’ that I’m doing this!” Heavenly Dao’s tone gradually grew cold.

”’Tool characters’ have no points and can’t use the Exchange Stone Pillar. The items currently remaining in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes are all we have left to use. You yourself know the Demon Fiends’ recent movements! They intend to annihilate us once more! If I don’t use these things, am I supposed to stand by and watch the Young Master squander these resources for nothing? What a joke! Old man, you’ve lived long enough, but I haven’t! This second chance at life—you may not want it, but I treasure it dearly!”

The words from Heavenly Dao’s mouth instantly silenced Da Luo.

Da Luo found himself powerless against Heavenly Dao’s resolute stance, and could only murmur, ”You weren’t like this before...”

”That’s right, I wasn’t like this before. Weren’t *you* the one who used to be like this? Actually, from the moment I was resurrected, I realized that the principles the Almighty Immortal Emperor upheld were complete bullshit! Look! Just look at the Universe of Immortals and Heroes now, what has the Heavenly Palace become? Honestly, I should have just followed the Drunken Taoist and defected to the Dominator back then!”

”You!” Hearing Heavenly Dao’s words, Da Luo’s expression changed instantly, but he couldn’t utter another word. The past grievances were exceedingly complex; even after countless eons, it was impossible to determine who was right and who was wrong.

But one thing was clear: the Heavenly Dao of today was no longer the naive young man Da Luo remembered, the one who had seemed like the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s constant shadow...

Heavenly Dao and Da Luo remained silent for a long moment. In fact, in the entire banquet hall, only these two had any say in this matter.

Wen Yu couldn’t hear their quiet conversation, but judging from their expressions, Da Luo had likely conceded to Heavenly Dao’s view. For Wen Yu, this was an absolutely terrible turn of events, a situation that couldn’t possibly be worse! All the benefits that had been within his grasp were snatched away, and even his own security had plummeted.

It wasn’t until a long while later that the hushed conversation between the two paused. Only then did Heavenly Dao raise his head again and look at Wen Yu.

”Since Junior Brother has no objections, then this matter is decided.”

”Wait, My Lords, this humble one still has some thoughts...” It was Luo Hai who spoke up once more!

At this point, Wen Yu finally realized that Luo Hai had been in contact with Heavenly Dao all along; Luo Hai was the one orchestrating the pace of these events!

”Speak.”

Heavenly Dao’s curt command further confirmed Wen Yu’s judgment.

”This humble one believes that doing so is still somewhat unfair to the Young Master...”
