Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Speak.”

”I came before Lord Heaven’s Path this time to make a request. I plan to participate in this hunting reward mission with the man behind me. I hope Lord Heaven’s Path will grant permission.”

Upon hearing Wen Yu’s words, Heavenly Dao’s eyes immediately focused on Tang Haofei. His cold gaze swept up and down Tang Haofei’s form. Tang Haofei could even feel a blatant Spiritual Fluctuation piercing through his body, revealing everything about him.

After a long moment, Heavenly Dao withdrew his gaze and nodded thoughtfully.

”It can be done.”

...

”Phew, that guy... He really puts a lot of pressure on me...” Tang Haofei muttered, taking a deep breath as he finally stepped out of Heavenly Dao’s chamber.

No matter how powerful Tang Haofei might be, he was only at Level 5. And at Level 5, facing the absolute power of the Level 11 Heavenly Dao, the immense pressure Tang Haofei felt from the probe was easy to imagine!

”Ever since we started walking up this mountain, my Challenger’s trial has been setting off alarm bells nonstop, warning me of hundreds of formidable individuals along the way...” Tang Haofei kept mumbling. ”This time, we might run into many tough opponents. I’m only now realizing how troublesome this really is. I’m not afraid of Level 7 Demon Fiends, but I can’t guarantee I can defeat a Level 7 Breakthrough Achiever…”

A buzzing, like a housefly, continually echoed in Wen Yu’s ears. Seeing that Tang Haofei showed no signs of stopping, Wen Yu raised an eyebrow.

”Scared? If you can’t handle it, we can leave. There’s no need to fight to the death with these doomed individuals here.”

”No,” Tang Haofei said with an embarrassed chuckle. ”I was just joking.”

Presently, Tang Haofei’s desire to stay was even stronger.

”Oh yes.” As if recalling something, Old Tang turned to Wen Yu with a secretive expression. ”What did Heavenly Dao mean earlier about your master’s plan?”

”None of your business,” Wen Yu replied nonchalantly.

...

Following the servant dispatched by Heavenly Dao, they walked along the streets of the Heavenly Palace’s seventh-floor base. The scenery was similar to that of Ling Yun City, though there were more powerful experts, and pedestrians moved with greater urgency.

They walked for about half an hour, eventually reaching a military camp-like structure by the city wall. The servant then turned to Wen Yu.

”Your Highness, the Young Master,” the servant said, ”this is the resting place Lord Heaven’s Path has prepared for all powerful experts participating in the hunting reward mission. Please stay here for a few days. At noon the day after tomorrow, Lord Heaven’s Path will transport all participants to the Demon Tribe-occupied area.”

Wen Yu nodded to indicate he understood.

The servant spoke again. ”Your Highness, Building 001 is reserved for you. Due to military restrictions here, I cannot lead Your Highness further. Please forgive my inadequacy.”

Taking the key-like object from the servant, Wen Yu didn’t dwell on it and proceeded into the military camp with Tang Haofei.

...

Room 001 was easy to find. After the hunting reward mission was established, this camp must have undergone significant renovations. Heavenly Dao wouldn’t cause Wen Yu any difficulties regarding accommodation. At least in Wen Yu’s view, Room 001 was absolutely top-notch in terms of architectural style, interior decoration, and even security.

This might also be a privilege of being a ”Young Master.” Wen Yu thought with a touch of self-mockery.

He casually opened the door. ”Go rest,” he told Tang Haofei, then found a bedroom and went in himself.

...

The middle-aged man from the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance who had brought him into the base had previously informed Wen Yu that all participants in the hunting reward mission were now gathered in this camp. They had already begun forming factions, attempting to minimize their risks in the Demon Tribe-occupied area.

However, the formation of these ”factions” happened much faster than Wen Yu had anticipated!

Moreover, the person who came to find him was completely beyond Wen Yu’s expectations.

”Your Highness, the Young Master.”

Seeing Luo Hai bow and greet him respectfully, Wen Yu eyed him for a long moment before speaking, his tone unfriendly. ”What is it?”

Wen Yu’s first interaction with Luo Hai had been far from pleasant, so he naturally gave Luo Hai a cold reception now.

And Luo Hai’s current demeanor certainly lived up to the ”serpent” moniker Wen Yu had mentally assigned him.

”I have come this time to discuss countermeasures with Your Highness for entering the Demon Tribe-occupied area.” After speaking, Luo Hai gave Wen Yu a meaningful look, indicating that this matter was not suitable for discussion out in the open.

After a brief moment of consideration, Wen Yu moved aside slightly, allowing Luo Hai to enter the room.

...

”Your Highness, I was presumptuous last time. It was only because I couldn’t confirm Your Highness’s identity then. I hope Your Highness can forgive me.”

Wen Yu didn’t know exactly how Luo Hai had been ”presumptuous” toward him. However, he was certain Luo Hai’s motive wasn’t as simple as he claimed.

Still wary of Luo Hai, Wen Yu nodded slightly. ”Let’s not talk about that. State your purpose for coming here.”

”Your Highness, I have come to form an alliance with you, or rather, to attach myself to Your Highness and offer my humble services.”

Luo Hai’s words sounded heartfelt and incredibly sincere, but Wen Yu would be a fool to believe him!

”That’s not necessary. I already have a plan,” Wen Yu said, directly rebuffing him.

Yet Luo Hai showed no sign of anger. Instead, he began to explain his purpose in a serious, detailed manner. ”Your Highness may not be aware, but this isn’t a competition between individuals as you might imagine. It involves the issue of factions.”

”Factions?”

”The Young Master might have heard about the dispute between the Almighty Immortal Emperor and the Drunken Taoist. Since then, the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance has been divided into two major factions. One is the Death Battle Faction, led by the Almighty Immortal Emperor. They are inclined to fight the Demon Tribe to the bitter end.”

”The other is the Continuation Faction, led by the Drunken Taoist. To ensure the continuation of their race, they are inclined to proactively submit to the Dominator.”

Before Wen Yu could react to Luo Hai’s words, the Almighty Demon Vine inside him sneered.

Wen Yu could guess what the Almighty Demon Vine was thinking—given the tragic situation of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, and the truth the Almighty Demon Vine knew, the fate of this so-called Continuation Faction would likely be an immense tragedy.
