Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Upon hearing Da Luo’s words, Heavenly Dao wore a faint smile, with a hint of a smirk, while his eyes glanced at Wen Yu in a strange manner.

”You need not worry about this, Alliance Chief Da Luo. Our Master left many treasures for our Junior Brother before he died, including the ultimate treasure of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes—the Heaven-covering Banner. As long as we have it, our Young Master’s life will certainly be safe!”

Heavenly Dao’s words made Wen Yu’s heart skip a beat!

After looking at Heavenly Dao’s faintly smiling face, Wen Yu minutely mulled over his words, and then felt a chill run down his spine.

He who carries the gem is guilty.

Heavenly Dao was clearly pushing him into the fire pit.

The moment Heavenly Dao’s voice fell, the atmosphere in the banquet hall suddenly froze.

Numerous pairs of eyes were fixed on Wen Yu’s back. Their greedy and skeptical gazes instantly made Wen Yu conscious of their attitude toward the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s inheritance.

How could a Level 5 runt like you swallow all the treasures left behind by the Almighty Immortal Emperor?

The first to break the silence was, surprisingly, Da Luo.

”Oh? The Heaven-covering Banner?”

”Yes, exactly, the Heaven-covering Banner!”

After saying these words, Heavenly Dao, perhaps feeling that his words lacked persuasiveness, gently moved his right hand, and a small, black cloth square materialized in his hand.

”WHOOSH!”

Dozens of gazes followed Heavenly Dao’s right hand, all the way until he put the Heaven-covering Banner back into his space ring. Only then did the banter and rumble of discussion start.

”It really seems to be the Heaven-covering Banner.”

”Indeed it is, I have seen it once before.”

”Goodness, the ultimate concealment treasure of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes. It’s said that before the Immortal Emperor attained the Heavenly Dao, he escaped countless deadly disasters thanks to the Heaven-covering Banner!”

”This... wow... the Young Master really has good karma...”

The almost undisguised discussion resonated throughout the banquet hall, all words clearly caught by Wen Yu.

Heavenly Dao’s simple action instantly stoked everyone’s greed. After all, who wouldn’t want something like the Heaven-covering Banner?

But, in the presence of Heavenly Dao, the situation remained controlled—Heavenly Dao had made it clear that the Heaven-covering Banner was left by the Almighty Immortal Emperor for the Young Master. Who would be crazy enough to openly question the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s inheritance?

”Hmm, indeed, it is the Heaven-covering Banner.”

Da Luo, who was closest to Heavenly Dao and the most powerful, nodded his head after confirming the authenticity of the Heaven-covering Banner, and then spoke once again.

”In that case, we need not worry about the Young Master’s safety. He shall stay on the sixth layer of Heavenly Palace and contribute his efforts to Heavenly Palace. What do you think, Young Master?”

”As the Young Master of Heavenly Palace, it’s my duty to do so!”

Although Wen Yu appeared righteous, there was a slight tremor in his voice.

Heavenly Dao had confirmed my identity, yet he was using the ultimate treasure to dig another pit for me. I was completely clueless about Heavenly Dao’s true intentions.

”Wait, I have some different views.”

Wen Yu abruptly turned his head to look aside!

”Wait, I have some different views.”

Luo Hai, sitting next to Da Luo, slowly rose to his feet. He gave a proper bow to Heavenly Dao and Da Luo, then, ignoring Wen Yu’s surprised gaze, began to speak his mind.

”Actually, in my eyes, the significance of the sixth layer of Heavenly Palace is not that high. If the battle intensifies, even if all of us die, there would be no complaints. Hence, leaving the Heaven-covering Banner on the sixth layer of Heavenly Palace would simply be a waste!”

”In my opinion, as the ultimate treasure of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, it should be put to greater use. The Young Master is currently not very strong, and keeping the Heaven-covering Banner with him would not be of much use. However, if the Heaven-covering Banner is kept in the Upper Heavenly Palace, in the hands of a more powerful expert, its strategic value would be self-evident.”

Luo Hai’s words were entirely based on the interests of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes. His speech contained no disrespect towards Wen Yu; instead, it was brimming with concern for the Universe of Immortals and Heroes. Apart from Wen Yu, everyone present likely believed Luo Hai’s proposal was better.

Upon hearing Luo Hai’s words, Heavenly Dao showed no expression, while Da Luo, on the other hand, furrowed his brows.

”Luo Hai, watch your words!”

His stern voice didn’t make Luo Hai flinch at all. Luo Hai just looked at Wen Yu with a strange expression and opened his mouth again.

”In my opinion, among everyone in Heavenly Palace, no one is more suitable to wield the Heaven-covering Banner than Lord Heaven’s Path!”

Hearing Luo Hai’s words, Wen Yu froze on the spot.

The Almighty Demon Vine’s warning explicitly stated that Heavenly Dao and the Da Luo line didn’t get along, but Luo Hai’s attitude was evidently on Heavenly Dao’s side now.

What’s going on!

Wen Yu sent a spiritual fluctuation towards the Almighty Demon Vine on his right hand, but received only silence in return.

The Almighty Demon Vine didn’t utter a word.

Instead, Heavenly Dao glanced at Wen Yu’s right hand—with just that one look, Wen Yu instantly realized there was a problem.

It was highly likely that Heavenly Dao had already discovered the Almighty Demon Vine’s existence.

”Luo Hai! What on earth are you talking about?”

Da Luo, next to him, had a clear look of anger on his face as he shouted at Luo Hai, who was completely unafraid of his own father.

”Alliance Chief Da Luo, what I am suggesting is only the most valuable solution for Heavenly Palace. If you think about it carefully, I believe you can understand that my proposal is much better than the Young Master having the Heaven-covering Banner!”

”This is Tongtian’s last testament!”

Da Luo’s words resonated powerfully, his gaze firmly locked on Heavenly Dao.

Luo Hai’s suggestion was merely a suggestion; the one with the real say in all this was still Heavenly Dao.

Heavenly Dao barely moved the corner of his lips and spoke a few words in a barely audible voice, his face emotionless.

”However, Master... is dead.”

This simple sentence made Wen Yu feel as if he had plunged into an icy abyss.

The most unpredictable thing in this world is undoubtedly the human heart, and only the human heart.

A dead person, no matter how glorious their past, can only leave behind a story once they perish. That’s it—just a story. All that’s left is a story!

No matter how imposing the late Almighty Immortal Emperor was, didn’t he end up with nothing after his death?

Moreover, from the words Heavenly Dao just uttered, his attitude was clear—dead men are simply dead. A life extinguished is like a snuffed-out lamp; once they’re gone, the warmth of connections fades!

Heavenly Dao’s voice was very quiet, quiet enough for only Wen Yu and Da Luo to hear.

Wen Yu didn’t say a word, but Da Luo erupted on the spot!

”You ungrateful disciple! Your master rescued you from the demon plague and painstakingly taught you the Great Dao! Is this how you repay him?”

Facing Da Luo’s accusation, Heavenly Dao just waved his hand slightly.

”Alliance Chief Da Luo, please calm down. I’ve already considered this matter...”
