Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Following Mo Xuan, they traversed most of Ling Yun City until they arrived at a small, secluded house, where Mo Xuan finally stopped.

”We’re here, Young Master.”

”This place?”

Looking at the inconspicuous, run-down shack before him, Wen Yu couldn’t help but ask.

”Yes, Young Master. This is the teleportation array formation to the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Branch at the Sixth Layer of Heaven Palace.”

Wen Yu pressed his lips together, saying nothing more. Tang Haofei, on the other hand, nodded thoughtfully.

”Few people know about this place, right?”

”Previously, only myself and three trusted subordinates knew.”

”No defensive measures, no heavy guard. If you hadn’t betrayed your former allegiances, no one would ever imagine this shabby little house is actually the vital link between Ling Yun City on the Fifth Layer of Tiangong and the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Headquarters on the Sixth Layer of Heaven Palace. This is truly ’darkness beneath the lamp’—a clever trick.”

Tang Haofei exclaimed in admiration, which made Wen Yu feel somewhat out of his depth. But what did any of this have to do with him? Wen Yu really didn’t have the time or inclination to delve into such messy affairs.

Decisively cutting off Tang Haofei, who looked ready to elaborate further, Wen Yu spoke directly to Mo Xuan, ”Let’s go. We head to the Sixth Layer of Heaven Palace first. We shouldn’t keep those above waiting!”

...

The house’s interior was modest and conventionally furnished. Apart from a thick layer of dust, it resembled any common, impoverished household.

It wasn’t until Mo Xuan opened the cellar door and descended that Wen Yu noticed an entrance, much like one to a root cellar, in the corner of the small house.

Following Mo Xuan underground, a miniature teleportation formation came into view—small in size but adorned with extremely complex runes.

”This is it, Young Master.”

After speaking, Mo Xuan retreated three steps, clearly indicating his stance.

This time, Mo Xuan would not accompany Wen Yu into the Sixth Layer of Heaven Palace.

As the City Lord of Ling Yun City—the heart of the Fifth Layer of Tiangong—Mo Xuan was not idle like Tang Haofei.

Wen Yu actually felt a bit regretful about this. Being completely in the dark, having Mo Xuan, an ”acquaintance,” by his side would have greatly enhanced his sense of security and the speed at which he could familiarize himself with the environment. Of course, this assumed the Almighty Demon Vine would maintain its aloof demeanor.

But now, the Almighty Demon Vine indeed could no longer feign indifference.

”Let him leave first; I have something to discuss with you.”

A spiritual fluctuation came from the Almighty Demon Vine. Wen Yu reacted immediately, turning to Mo Xuan and waving his hand.

”You may leave first. Thank you for your hard work.”

”It is my duty, Young Master.”

Mo Xuan, still as respectful as ever, bowed to Wen Yu before turning and exiting the cellar.

...

”The situation on the sixth layer of Tiangong is somewhat different from the fifth layer.”

”The core of the sixth layer of Tiangong is Sky-shattering City. The Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Branch is merely one of the Alliance’s strongholds, located a hundred and eight thousand *li* from Sky-shattering City.”

”The old master arranged the general plan, but he delegated all the details to Heavenly Dao. I don’t know why Heavenly Dao wants to send you to the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Branch, but in my opinion, going there isn’t the best choice.”

The general plan... Details... Delegated to Heavenly Dao...

If Wen Yu guessed correctly, before his arrival, Heavenly Dao had merely been a dead entity.

From the Almighty Demon Vine’s few sentences, Wen Yu instantly understood the nature of his trip to the Heaven Palace—he was simply following the plan and arrangements left by the Almighty Immortal Emperor, being led by the nose by the Almighty Demon Vine.

However, Wen Yu had anticipated all of this after taking the Spirit Rhythm Immortal Pill.

The key point still lay in what the Almighty Demon Vine had just said.

”Is there a problem with that?”

”A very big problem!”

...

”The Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance is the official organization of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes. However, its predecessor was merely a loose coalition of countless sects from the Universe, formed to resist the Demon Tribe.”

”Only after the Almighty Immortal Emperor rose to prominence did the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance begin to consolidate, and the Immortal Emperor naturally became its first Alliance Hierarch.”

”I won’t go into the specifics of what happened next, but you need to understand this: even towards the end of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, countless disciples from various sects remained within the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance, and many held high positions!”

”Take the current Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Chief, for example; he is the sect leader of the Heaven Court, the most powerful sect in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes!”

As the Almighty Demon Vine paused, Wen Yu carefully digested its words, then hesitantly voiced his understanding.

”You’re saying the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance isn’t a monolith, right?”

”Correct! And the internal conflicts are intense. You’ll find out more in time. This involves the dispute over the Great Dao between the Almighty Immortal Emperor and his own brother—the Drunken Taoist!”

”What I can confirm now is that Heavenly Dao sides with the Immortal Emperor, while the current Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Chief sides with the Drunken Taoist!”

”When the Immortal Emperor was alive, the Drunken Taoist’s faction couldn’t stir up any significant trouble. After all, there was a vast difference between two Level 11 and two Level 10 Breakthrough Achievers, not to mention the former Almighty Immortal Emperor’s overwhelming might... But now the Immortal Emperor is dead, and Heavenly Dao’s combat power isn’t enough to completely crush the current Alliance Chief. So, I can’t predict what will happen...”

As the saying goes, what goes around comes around. Wen Yu, having just reaped a load of benefits, was now inevitably drawn into the internal strife of the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance.

As the ”Son of the Heaven-reaching Immortal Emperor,” it wasn’t hard to guess which side he’d be on.

Silence fell for a moment before Wen Yu sighed deeply.

This damn situation is too complicated!

After thinking for a while, Wen Yu suddenly had a question.

”So, where is this Drunken Taoist? As the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s own brother, he’d surely know my identity is fake! And he has a feud with the Almighty Immortal Emperor—are you trying to set me up?”

”You don’t need to worry about the Drunken Taoist...”

The Almighty Demon Vine’s tone suddenly grew solemn.

”He will not be a problem for you!”

...

The Almighty Demon Vine didn’t elaborate on why, and Wen Yu didn’t bother asking—it was clear he wouldn’t get an answer.

Wen Yu’s head was already throbbing from the impending troubles, yet the Almighty Demon Vine hadn’t finished speaking.

”There’s one more problem, concerning another Level 11 powerful expert in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes...”

”The Devil Master, Bai. A former doyen of the Demon Path, the supreme king of the dark side of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes.”

”The Almighty Immortal Emperor killed his son. Now, that fiend might have been resurrected by the power of the Soul Bead...”

Hearing this, Wen Yu’s blood boiled!

”Damn it, why don’t you just kill me now!”
