Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Be that as it may... alas, I truly cannot find a better solution...” Heavenly Dao deliberately sighed.

Luo Hai played along perfectly.

”Well, I do have another solution.”

Seeing Heavenly Dao raise his eyebrows, Luo Hai ignored his father’s increasingly chilling gaze and quickly proposed his ”solution.”

”Although the Immortal Emperor left a large inheritance for the Young Master, it’s certainly not enough to distribute to all the warriors in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes. All we can do is use these resources to strengthen the combat abilities of a few elites. Given this, why not hold an internal competition? The Young Master can participate, and anyone else who desires this benefit can also join. The most capable will claim it. In my opinion, this approach is a relatively fair suggestion for both the Young Master and everyone else who wants to benefit.”

Is that fair? That’s just superficial fairness. It was something any discerning person could see, yet Heavenly Dao applauded it!

”Alliance Chief Da Luo, you truly have a worthy successor.”

Heavenly Dao praised, then immediately agreed with Luo Hai’s ”suggestion.”

”In that case, Luo Hai, compile the detailed plan later and give it to me. This way, we can indeed select a large batch of promising talents from the current personnel of the Heavenly Palace!”

”Junior Brother, what do you think of this?”

”I will follow Senior Brother’s orders.”

...

The charade between Luo Hai and Heavenly Dao left Wen Yu speechless.

Wen Yu couldn’t fathom Heavenly Dao’s thoughts at all, but the one thing he was certain of was that Heavenly Dao, at this moment, was not the backer he had imagined. Instead, Heavenly Dao had become his death warrant!

Fortunately, after moving away from Heavenly Dao and Da Luo, the Almighty Demon Vine seemed to have its seal lifted and became active again.

”The plan didn’t go like this; there has been some change on Heavenly Dao’s end!”

”What’s the use of talking about plans now? Think about how we should resolve this current predicament!”

The feast had long since ended. Wen Yu had returned to the Sky Pole Cabinet and was now sitting alone in its main hall, communicating mentally with the Almighty Demon Vine.

”Let’s just stay here a little longer and see.”

The Almighty Demon Vine, after a long pause, hesitantly offered a suggestion that wasn’t particularly good.

”I think I should leave now! An Esoteric Level skill suited for me and a significant boost to my physical attribute limits—considering the scale of a Super Treasure Land, this haul is already quite good!”

With his ”Young Master” identity, Wen Yu should have been able to obtain more benefits, but as soon as Heavenly Dao revealed his stance, everything became an illusion.

From any perspective, it seemed like a relatively cost-effective choice for Wen Yu to give up halfway now.

”No, we should still wait.”

The Almighty Demon Vine had a different idea.

”I’m not sure what changed on Heavenly Dao’s end, but since he didn’t immediately expose your false identity, it proves there’s still room to maneuver. Perhaps... something I don’t know about happened, and Heavenly Dao proactively changed the plan’s procedure; it’s not impossible.”

”Room to maneuver! My most respected Senior Brother is practically robbing me blind!”

Wen Yu, sitting aside, sneered and then heaved a heavy sigh.

Wen Yu was truly unwilling to return to Earth now, dejected and defeated. But if he stayed, Heavenly Dao’s intentions were impossible to fathom, and the path ahead for Wen Yu would be fraught with difficulties. The slightest misstep could mean instant death. Thus, the suggestion to stay here also seemed unacceptable to Wen Yu.

The Almighty Demon Vine’s next words made Wen Yu solidify his resolve.

”The injuries to my Soul have mostly recovered. If Heavenly Dao truly moves against you, I’m confident I can stall him for a few seconds. That will be enough time for you to activate the teleportation jade charm. I don’t understand the issues within the Heavenly Palace, so I must see what changes have occurred. Wen Yu, trust me this once. I can definitely guarantee your safety. Just stay here and follow Heavenly Dao’s arrangements.”

”Sigh...”

Wen Yu sighed heavily.

...

He had dinner with Tang Haofei in the Sky Pole Cabinet. Old Tang noticed Wen Yu’s grim expression and couldn’t help but ask about it.

Wen Yu didn’t explain much to Old Tang, only telling him to be prepared for battle.

The only person Wen Yu felt he could truly trust now was probably Tang Haofei. But the worst part was that Tang Haofei wasn’t strong enough!

In this Heavenly Palace, where Level 10 experts roamed freely, Old Tang’s Level 5 strength was truly insignificant.

...

「Early the next morning,」

Just as Wen Yu was getting up, Servants had already brought breakfast. Along with it came the ”Plan Regarding the Disposition of the Almighty Immortal Emperor’s Legacy,” which had been finalized by Heavenly Dao and formulated by Luo Hai.

Wen Yu scrutinized the plan.

It generally stated:

Due to the pressing military situation in the Heavenly Palace, and furthermore, because the Young Master deeply understands the greater good, the inheritance left by the late Almighty Immortal Emperor for the Young Master will be fully entrusted to Lord Heaven’s Path for management.

To eliminate the demon plague and select promising new talents from the existing personnel of the Heavenly Palace, Lord Heaven’s Path, using this inheritance as the reward, is establishing a hunting reward mechanism on the Seventh floor of the Heavenly Palace!

All warriors of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes at Level 7 or below may proceed to the Seventh floor of the Heavenly Palace to freely hunt Demon Fiends. The Level 7 magic crystals acquired will serve as the items for exchanging these rewards.

Below that was a general list of rewards for exchange. Wen Yu merely glanced at it briefly before tossing the plan aside in heartache.

Damn it all! This time, Heavenly Dao had truly offended him to the core!

The list included items to raise the upper limits of physical attributes, various items containing the Origin Energy of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, and even Esoteric Level skill scrolls—everything imaginable was there! And in Wen Yu’s eyes, all of these things were originally his!

Seeing Wen Yu toss the plan aside, the Almighty Demon Vine slowly emerged from Wen Yu’s right hand and coiled around the entire document. It carefully examined the material of the plan. A faint, almost imperceptible Spiritual Fluctuation was transmitted into the Almighty Demon Vine’s mind. Perceiving a few words Heavenly Dao had left behind, the Almighty Demon Vine pondered for a moment, then its body flashed with purple light, instantly turning the entire plan into ash.

Wen Yu didn’t notice this at all. He simply asked the Almighty Demon Vine,

”What now?”

”Didn’t Heavenly Dao establish a hunting reward mechanism? These things were originally yours. Don’t you want them?”

”I do!”

”Then go for it.”
