Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Then go for it”—four words that sounded simple, but the reality was entirely different!

Setting aside the issue of a Level 5 fighting a Level 7—that was a minor problem. The physical attribute limit for a Level 7 Demonic Beast was 20,000 points. With his current strength, Wen Yu wouldn’t have much trouble dealing with regular Level 7 Demonic Beasts. The key was the other competitors.

And who among those confident enough to contend for this reward would be an easy adversary?

It was predictable that there would definitely be various internal competitions, and not a few of them—in this wilderness, if someone were to attack and kill Wen Yu, who would stand up for him?

Coupled with Heavenly Dao’s attitude, this ”Hunting Reward Plan” truly seemed unreliable in Wen Yu’s eyes.

At noon, while having lunch with Tang Haofei, Old Tang noticed Wen Yu’s hesitant expression and couldn’t help but ask more about it.

Wen Yu considered Tang Haofei to be in the same boat as him. Moreover, Tang Haofei was the only person Wen Yu could trust here. So, Wen Yu briefly composed his thoughts and told Tang Haofei about the current situation. Except for the existence of the Almighty Demon Vine, there wasn’t much else for Wen Yu to hide.

”In other words, the Senior Brother who is publicly affirming your identity may have some ulterior motives in secret?”

Wen Yu nodded, agreeing with Old Tang’s statement.

”Do you have any idea what his motives might be?”

Wen Yu shook his head.

”There’s something fishy about this…”

Old Tang stroked his chin with his right hand, racking his brains as he played the role of strategist for Wen Yu.

”If he’s completely malicious towards you, then why would he still confirm your identity? Think about it. According to you, what Heavenly Dao has done is completely contradictory. On one hand, he confirms your identity; on the other, he deprives you of benefits. This is absolutely superfluous. If he had proven your identity was fake in front of everyone, you would certainly die on the spot. Then, the inheritance the Almighty Immortal Emperor entrusted to you would go to Heavenly Dao—no one knows about this. If he was after the inheritance, he could have directly denied you as the Young Master and taken all those benefits for himself…”

”In other words, his true intention is not for the inheritance.”

Wen Yu had also considered what Old Tang said, but he couldn’t fathom the deeper implications.

Moreover, it was clear that with the current information and Tang Haofei’s intellect not being significantly greater than Wen Yu’s, he couldn’t figure it out either.

”Forget it, let’s not guess. Let’s eat first.”

With a grand wave of his hand, Old Tang picked up his utensils and started on the food before him. The fellow’s attitude was quite optimistic.

However, Wen Yu, as the protagonist of this incident, couldn’t muster much optimism.

”I want to leave, to leave this treasure land,” Wen Yu murmured.

”Yeah, the situation is indeed not optimistic.”

Old Tang was no longer in the mood for joking. Both of Earth’s Breakthrough Achievers were here. If something were to happen to either of them, the Earth Human Race would lose its pillars of support. The resulting situation would be terrifying, Tang Haofei thought.

”But it’s not impossible to solve. You said earlier, if Heavenly Dao makes a move against you, you’re certain you could escape, right?”

Wen Yu hesitated slightly, first nodding, then shaking his head.

The Almighty Demon Vine had claimed it could ”withstand Heavenly Dao for a few seconds.” Wen Yu was unsure whether to believe it, though it was true the Almighty Demon Vine had helped him greatly on his journey.

However, the help and benefits it provided weren’t reason enough for Wen Yu to trust the Almighty Demon Vine unconditionally!

His life was on the line; Wen Yu had to prepare for the worst!

”I might be able to escape... it’s fifty-fifty, I suppose...”

”It’s 100%!”

The Almighty Demon Vine stubbornly retorted, but its words couldn’t sway Wen Yu.

”So, the crux of the matter still comes down to this fifty-fifty chance, huh!” Tang Haofei said quietly to Wen Yu, an expression on his face as if he had seen through the mortal world.

「...」

”If you can really escape from Heavenly Dao, then what are you afraid of? Heavenly Dao is currently the strongest in the Heavenly Palace. If you can escape from him, it means your life in the Heavenly Palace is completely secure. In that situation, no matter how much you stir things up, you can preserve your life. Naturally, you should go wherever the good stuff is!”

”And that damn hunting reward mechanism? Heh, Level 7... you can get me in, right?”

After pondering for a moment, Wen Yu decisively nodded.

As the Young Master of the Heavenly Palace, bringing a follower inside wouldn’t be too much, would it?

”What’s there to discuss then? Just go in and kick some ass! A Level 7 fellow... even if I can’t beat him, I can definitely take him down if I die twice!”

With the Life and Death Battle Execution and Challenger’s Trial at his disposal, Tang Haofei, as Earth’s Sequence Number 1, indeed had this confidence!

Moreover, Tang Haofei’s analysis held some truth—if the Almighty Demon Vine’s words were accurate, Wen Yu indeed had nothing to fear in the Heavenly Palace.

As long as he could escape, what did Wen Yu have to fear?

”But, if you can’t escape from Heavenly Dao, then this matter gets complicated…”

”Not complicated, not complicated at all. It’s just death, that’s all,” Wen Yu stated blandly.

”So, it’s 50-50 between life and death. What we’re playing with here is a heart-pounding game!”

Old Tang still had the heart to joke at a time like this…
