Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”Understood.”

After briefly asking a few questions, Wen Yu dismissed the administrator.

Heavenly Dao was stationed on the Seventh floor of the Tiangong, which was within Wen Yu’s expectations. Thinking about needing to see his ”Senior Brother” once more after getting to the Seventh floor of the Tiangong, Wen Yu let out a sorrowful sigh for no reason.

To tell the truth, Wen Yu really didn’t like dealing with the likes of Heavenly Dao and Da Luo.

The fundamental reason was the huge gap in their strengths—this place was unlike Earth, where Wen Yu’s combat power ensured his dominion wherever he went. Even if Lin Haifeng attempted any treachery, he knew one solid rule—he mustn’t openly defy Wen Yu.

The cost of openly defying Wen Yu was something the entire military force could not afford!

However, in the Heavenly Palace, the situation underwent a fundamental shift—why would Level 10 Breakthrough Achievers and Level 11 transcendent powerful experts care about a little Level 5 guy like him?

Thinking about Heavenly Dao’s words, ”Do you really consider me your senior brother?”, and the imminent meetup with him, Wen Yu was genuinely scared. What if Heavenly Dao takes offense at me for some reason, or acts out on a whim and slaps me into a pile of meat paste? Who could I even complain to then?

...

By evening, Wen Yu found Tang Haofei again. He discussed in detail with Old Tang the possible scenarios on the Seventh floor of the Tiangong, as well as various countermeasures. The interests of the two were now intertwined; they shared honor and shame, making them allies as staunch as could be.

Having finished his conversation with Tang Haofei, Wen Yu returned to his room, summoned the Almighty Demon Vine, and meticulously went through the various situations he was currently facing.

Generally, it was just Wen Yu discussing all sorts of problems while the Almighty Demon Vine kept reassuring him, telling him to relax—even Wen Yu himself was uncertain where the vine’s confidence came from.

In the end, what Wen Yu gleaned from his conversations with Tang Haofei and the Almighty Demon Vine was merely a strategy of ”countering each move as it comes.”

The mindless talk from the man and the vine made Wen Yu roll his eyes in frustration. After realizing once again that none of those present were the brains of the operation, Wen Yu decisively crawled into bed, pulled the covers over his head, and fell fast asleep.

No matter what, getting enough rest is always a good idea...

...

Early the next morning, just as Wen Yu and Tang Haofei had finished breakfast, the administrator who had met Wen Yu the previous day arrived at Sky Pole Cabinet, ready to escort Wen Yu to the Seventh floor of the Tiangong.

Seeing the luxurious, gilt-and-jade-adorned vehicle outside, Wen Yu couldn’t help but feel it was a prisoner’s cart heading for the execution grounds.

Tang Haofei gently nudged Wen Yu from behind. The immense power radiating from Tang Haofei’s back somewhat reassured Wen Yu.

At least I’m not alone now...

Wen Yu, who had always been an independent hero, realized for the first time how much psychological comfort a reliable teammate could bring, especially when that teammate was stronger than him.

Of course, my real thought is probably that at least there’s someone who can cover the retreat... If something happens, Old Tang will be responsible for covering the rear—this wasn’t discussed; it’s just my principle for handling things. Let my ally perish, not me. Yes, it’s a bit dark, but in the grand scheme of things, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it!

...

Under the guidance of the administrator, Wen Yu and Tang Haofei took the car and headed to the place where Wen Yu had initially met Heavenly Dao.

According to this administrator, this was where the twelve teleportation array formations of the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance Branch on the Sixth layer of Tiangong were located. It was also the transit station connecting this branch with all layers of the Heavenly Palace.

After leading Wen Yu to the location, the administrator respectfully bowed to him and then said, ”His Highness the Young Master, the teleportation array formation will be activated shortly. I will not accompany the Young Master onwards. On the other side of the teleportation array formation on the Seventh floor of the Tiangong, there will be personnel responsible for receiving the Young Master. At that time, if the Young Master follows them, you will be able to meet Lord Heaven’s Path.”

”Thank you.”

Hearing Wen Yu’s words of thanks, the administrator bowed once more, then signaled to the personnel supervising the teleportation array formation.

A staff member managing the teleportation array formation took out a large handful of magic crystals from his space ring and arranged them neatly in front of the array formation.

A dim light flashed. Accompanied by what could only be described as a terrifying energy output from the magic crystals, Wen Yu watched as the runes on the teleportation array formation lit up one after another. Then, a low booming sound slowly began to rise.

”Please go ahead, Young Master.”

The staff member managing the teleportation array formation gestured to Wen Yu. Seeing this, Wen Yu, along with Tang Haofei, walked directly into the teleportation array formation.

The booming sound grew louder and more intense until, at a certain moment, a slight tearing sensation washed over him.

Wen Yu only registered a flash of white light before his eyes, and then the scene abruptly changed.

...

The dank, stuffy air of their previous underground location vanished. In its place, a gentle breeze wafted through, carrying a faint, foul odor from the surroundings.

After briefly adapting to the dizziness caused by the teleportation, Wen Yu opened his eyes and carefully surveyed his new environment.

The artificial light in the sky was somewhat dazzling to Wen Yu. This wasn’t because the Seventh floor of the Tiangong was closer to ”heaven,” but rather because his current location was quite high up.

Faint clouds and mist swirled around him endlessly, giving Wen Yu the illusion of being in a celestial paradise. However, the putrid smell of Demonic Qi that occasionally assaulted his nostrils served as a stark reminder: this place was no paradise. On the contrary, it was a terrifying hell where Demon Fiends rampaged!

Demonic Qi was the sustenance for Demon Fiends, and a large number of Demon Fiends would, in turn, feed back into and increase the concentration of Demonic Qi in the air. Judging solely from the ambient Demonic Qi levels, what Heavenly Dao had said was indeed true.

The war in the Heavenly Palace is truly dire!

Looking around, all he could see were endless mountains. Unlike the mountain ranges on Earth, the mountains in the Universe of Immortals and Heroes were utterly bare. They possessed only height, lacking any of the profoundness that comes from sustaining life. After countless eons, coupled with a sealed environment and the corrosion by Demonic Qi, all vegetation on the mountains had long disappeared without a trace.

The place where Wen Yu now stood was a small platform on a mountain peak, apparently artificially carved out.

The platform was covered with complex teleportation array formations, which occasionally flashed with light. Some natives of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, dressed in various attires, were bustling about, using the teleportation array formations. They appeared busy, but Wen Yu could sense the overall grim situation of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes from the worried expressions on their faces.

Even if they were unconditionally granted a second life, for these natives of the Universe of Immortals and Heroes, it merely meant continuing that endless, hopeless war.

”Greetings, His Highness the Young Master.”

A voice from not far ahead interrupted Wen Yu’s thoughts.

Turning his head, Wen Yu looked at the native from the Universe of Immortals and Heroes who had just spoken.

The man was dressed in a black robe adorned with five golden stripes, which indicated his status.

”By Lord Heaven’s Path’s decree, I have been sent to receive the Young Master,” the man in front of him said again.
