Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Wen Yu wasn’t flawless; no one is. Everyone makes mistakes.

After the tragedy in Las Vegas, Wen Yu had decided not to let the assembly sites become a burden, which was why he had come to Yanjing and the Eternal Sky City.

On one hand, the Demon Fiends clustered in the Yanjing Assembly Site made it easier for him to reap and boost his physical fitness. On the other hand, his squad definitely required a base of operations. While it wasn’t a problem for the others, Qin Shiyuan might not be able to handle a life of constant wandering. The safety of the Yanjing Assembly Site had made Yanjing Wen Yu’s primary choice.

But after experiencing all the messed-up and disastrous incidents, Wen Yu acknowledged his errors without hesitation.

Even going to the Demon Realm would be infinitely better than staying in Yanjing!

Wen Yu would have accepted being killed by an enemy far stronger than him, but to be schemed to death by Lin Haifeng? He wouldn’t be able to die peacefully!

Upon hearing Wen Yu’s words, Qin Tian simply nodded.

In Yanjing, Qin Tian was the one who had been harmed the most.

Yang Hong and Wang Fucai, however, hesitated for a moment.

Seeing their expressions, Wen Yu instantly understood.

Humans always yearn for a stable life. After experiencing assembly sites like Las Vegas and Yanjing, one could easily guess Wen Yu’s future approach—he would inevitably lead a life of drifting from one place to another, with no fixed abode.

Perhaps not just Qin Shiyuan; any normal person, even those as remarkably strong as Yang Hong and Wang Fucai, couldn’t tolerate endless running and killing, day and night...

What’s more, judging by the fine wine on Yang Hong’s table, it was clear that Yang Hong and Wang Fucai were living quite comfortably in Yanjing...

”You two can stay here. I need people to help me gather intelligence on the war on Earth and the situation at the Yanjing Assembly Site.”

In fact, Wen Yu was also feeling a bit weary. Yang Hong and Wang Fucai had been with him for a fair amount of time. He wasn’t completely unfeeling; since they didn’t want to leave with him, he might as well do them a favor...

When Wen Yu had first formed the team, it was for their strength. But after obtaining the Almighty Demon Vine and the Soul Battlefield, his overall power had skyrocketed. Even Sequence Number 4, Qin Tian, was now, in Wen Yu’s eyes, someone he could eliminate in a single blow...

If they continued to follow him, what would that make Wen Yu?

A babysitter? A bodyguard?

Were they his weaknesses?

Judging from Qin Shiyuan’s situation, they definitely were!

He had initially formed the team to leverage external strength when his own was hard to improve. Now, it seemed that very decision had become a restraint.

...

Hearing Wen Yu’s words, Yang Hong and Wang Fucai glanced at each other and slowly nodded.

Wen Yu could even hear the relief in their exhales, which had become significantly lighter...

Lin Haifeng’s words once again echoed in his ears.

”If you become an enemy of Yanjing, those you trust, like Yang Hong and Wang Fucai, might just leave you...”

No, he didn’t have to become an enemy of Yanjing... When his decisions infringed upon others’ interests, even if they outwardly obeyed his commands—due to fear of his power—they would still secretly harbor their own agendas.

Human nature... was indeed complicated. This group... was inherently loose. And Wen Yu himself... he wasn’t some ’true protagonist’ exuding an aura that naturally attracted loyal followers! So, in this world... ultimately, he had to rely on himself!!!

...

”Alright, that’s about it. Yang Hong, I’ll be staying here for the next two days. Please arrange a place for me.”

There wasn’t much of importance to discuss. After some brief, casual conversation, Wen Yu feigned exhaustion, wanting to end the pointless talk.

”No problem. When I took over this place, I already arranged accommodations for everyone.”

Smiling, Yang Hong led Wen Yu and Qin Tian out the door and up the stairs.

”For the next two days, have food sent to my room. I won’t be going out. Also, you two should try to go out as little as possible during this time. When the Sea King arrives in Yanjing, some rather complex and troublesome things might happen. Try your best not to get involved...”

This brief warning was a fulfillment of his duty as their ”leader.” He also decided on his itinerary for the next two days: stay in his room, far from all this mess.

As for the Yanjing Assembly Site, Wen Yu truly didn’t want to stay a moment longer!

「Deep Blue.」

This was Tang Haofei’s second visit, and he still found Deep Blue’s environment unappealing.

Humans always yearned for the deep sea and the starry sky. Ultimately, it was simply a yearning for mystery. But what use was mystery? Could humans live in the deep sea? Could they survive without fire? After spending more than ten days undersea, Tang Haofei could state with certainty: humans were not suited for life in the ocean... However, some members of the Sea Clan could live on land... This disparity in adaptability between the Human Race and the Sea Clan was a hidden danger...

Thinking about this, Tang Haofei gave a wry chuckle.

When had he started pondering such things? These matters were inherently dangerous, inherently unstable...

...

”Master, we’ve arrived.”

Hearing the respectful reminder from the Sea King Tribe member beside him, Tang Haofei lifted his head and looked around.

All he could see was the familiar Stone architecture.

He pushed open the heavy Stone door. Inside, a large Luminous Pearl pulsed with white light, illuminating the hall, making it appear bright and tidy.

Compared to his last visit, merely ten-odd days later, the Sea King Palace’s interior had been arranged to be far more rational and aesthetically pleasing to humans.

The Sea King, or rather the Sea King Tribe, was assimilating the human knowledge system at an astonishing speed.

Their growth rate was too fast... They had too many combatants... The Sea King Tribe’s innate talents were too strong... A threat!

Lin Haifeng’s words echoed once more in Tang Haofei’s mind.

After a moment, Tang Haofei sighed softly.

He was a Divine Beast, yet he was also Human! His dual identity as both Divine Beast and Human muddled his thoughts on this matter, leaving him increasingly conflicted! He had told Lin Haifeng he was a Divine Beast, but could his true thoughts and considerations really be articulated in a few simple words? However, Lin Haifeng had been right about one thing. Compared to the risk of the ”Sea King Control Plan” failing, it was far better to ensure its success rate reached one hundred percent!

Therefore...

”Honorable Sea King, it’s time...”
