Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 566: Chapter 133 Akad (Additional update for 600 votes in July)_1

Hearing Wen Yu’s words, which sounded like comfort but were actually mockery, Tang Haofei opened his mouth, momentarily speechless...

Wen Yu, on the other hand, laughed and patted Tang Haofei on the shoulder. ”Haven’t seen you in a dozen days or so, and you’ve already grown sharper. You even managed to outmaneuver me with the battle plan...”

Tang Haofei just shrugged nonchalantly.

”It couldn’t be helped. We needed those strategic weapons from the Demon Fiends more than you. If they went to Yanjing, the research department could develop countermeasures or even clone tools with the same functions. Giving them to you would have been a waste, truly.”

Wen Yu was stunned...

Although it was true... Still, it’s frustrating not to get any benefits...

Perhaps sensing Wen Yu’s thoughts, Tang Haofei laughed and said, ”Don’t worry. I assure you, once the military develops something, you’ll get your share. We’re good friends, aren’t we?”

Wen Yu remained silent for a moment, then seriously made his demand.

”I want the Black Tortoise...”

”Get out!!!”

...

Even though Wen Yu had pointed out many of the Black Tortoise’s flaws, he couldn’t deny its combat power.

No, it was more than just acknowledgment; he was genuinely astonished by its combat power.

Its enormous size granted it unimaginable power. With the combined support of technology and the professionist system, it was difficult to quantify this level of strength.

However, judging by the terrifying power of a single finger, capable of obliterating several city blocks, it was no exaggeration to describe it as world-destroying and invincible at this stage.

The last monster Wen Yu had described as ”world-destroying and invincible” was Tang Haofei.

To be honest, I even have some bizarre thoughts—what interesting things would happen if the Black Tortoise and Tang Haofei clashed head-on?

A flurry of chaotic thoughts flashed through Wen Yu’s mind as he re-evaluated the Black Tortoise’s overall power. For me, if I had to face the Black Tortoise as an enemy, I could still escape.

Only then did Wen Yu feel relieved. As he walked with Tang Haofei towards another war zone, he asked, as if casually, ”Right, I heard the military also has something called an Azure Dragon War God... What the hell is that thing?”

”I don’t know either. But knowing Lin Haifeng’s personality, the deeper he hides something, the more formidable it is. The Azure Dragon War God’s power should be no less than the Black Tortoise’s, possibly even greater!”

”The Azure Dragon War God might also be a product of combined technology and the Exchange Stone Pillar system. If Lin Haifeng hadn’t wanted to transform the Eternal Sky City into an even stronger, newer series of Xuanwu War God, I wouldn’t have known what the hell the Black Tortoise even was...”

”The Eternal Sky City is being converted into a Black Tortoise type?”

Looking at Wen Yu’s stunned face, Tang Haofei slowly nodded.

”There are still some technical hurdles to overcome, but it should achieve combat capability around Level 9. The plan is already in motion...”

Wen Yu’s mouth fell open. Other than muttering Good heavens in his mind, he was utterly speechless...

Using the power of the entire nation, perhaps even the entire world, to forge the ultimate weapon of war—the Yanjing Black Tortoise, and in the future, even an Eternal Sky City Black Tortoise!

The sheer scale of Lin Haifeng’s endeavors was beyond Wen Yu’s imagination!

”So, Lin Haifeng is the one truly standing at the pinnacle of this world... He has already converted his influence into actual strength!”

Tang Haofei gave an honest assessment.

...

The disturbance caused by the Xuanwu War God was quickly quelled.

Most ordinary people without combat abilities were evacuated to underground air raid shelters. Without this main contingent of onlookers, the commotion naturally didn’t escalate rapidly.

And those who could see the Black Tortoise in action were professionists near Yanjing. With the battlefront already extending to the vicinity of the Yanjing Assembly Site, they had no time to disengage from the fierce fighting to admire the Black Tortoise’s majestic form.

Thus, the Black Tortoise’s brief appearance didn’t significantly impact the overall war situation.

However, there would always be small ripples occurring unnoticed...

...

When the world-destroying impact erupted in the sequence-beings residential area, the earth cracked, and the ground caved in.

Even if it was just a tap of its index finger, the Black Tortoise’s might was more than the streets and buildings of the Yanjing Assembly Site could withstand.

The streets and houses directly hit by the Black Tortoise instantly turned into rubble and dust—an entire city block was lost. This was what Wei Tian considered ”not too much collateral damage.”

The residents remaining in that block were probably already added to the military’s casualty list.

「Further away...」

At the home of Sequence Number 10—Vincent.

...

BOOM!

A deafening explosion startled a certain prisoner awake in the depths below.

Slowly opening his eyes, his gaze fell upon what looked like a cesspit, filled with sewage and excrement.

The surroundings were pitch-black and gloomy, an underground space of merely ten square meters or so, seemingly dug out at random. There wasn’t a sliver of light.

Breathing in the pungent, fetid stench and the smell of rot emanating from his own body, Akad shifted slightly...

His lower body was completely numb. Akad could only vaguely perceive a dull ache in his knees... and nothing below.

Vincent enjoyed keeping dogs. Before the apocalypse, when they were still friends, Akad would often visit Vincent’s home to play with the two small bulldogs Vincent owned.

And now, Vincent still maintained this habit.

Hearing the occasional barks from above, a faint, sorrowful smile slowly formed on Akad’s lips...

Those two unmutated mutts must find my flesh quite tasty... Actually, I’m a bit puzzled myself... This body of mine, so ravaged by the virus that it’s barely human, should have become completely unpalatable by now... A pity it didn’t poison those two mutts to death, Akad thought, feeling both helpless and resentful.

...

The unfortunate Akad. After Wanping handed him over to his ”old friend” Vincent as a ”teleportation fee,” Akad’s nightmare began.

Consumed by intense hatred, Vincent kicked the virus-ridden, wretched Akad into the cesspit, and then subjected him to inhuman torture.

Akad finally understood how those he had tortured to death must have felt...

Indeed. Vincent had never concealed his intention to torture Akad to death...

By now, Akad’s physical body was already destroyed by Vincent. His extra lives were long gone. His body, ravaged by the virus, was fragile and brittle. His original Peak Level 5 constitution, with a limit of 2,000 points, had been slowly corroded away by various toxins. Both his feet were gone, and one arm had been gnawed by the two unmutated pet dogs, exposing the stark white bone.

Perhaps it was only thanks to Vincent’s unlimited supply of healing potions that Akad could barely cling to life...

Akad had become a complete wreck...

The former Sequence Number 5, Akad.

Now, he was reduced to a prisoner guarded by just two pet dogs...

...

Sighing deeply, Akad felt no resentment for his current plight.

Cause and effect. If I could torture others, then others could use the same methods against me...

But to die just like this... I’m truly not reconciled... Akad thought, his eyes dimming.
