Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”BAM.”

It takes just over a second to free-fall from a height of ten meters.

Yet, within this mere second, Shadow had completed his entire operation.

Though luck played a part, the end result was positive. In fact, with Shadow’s capability, once Arthur and Qin Shiyuan set foot in the marketplace, failure was impossible!

The primary goal behind sacrificing an entire block and countless Human lives was simply for Shadow’s two straightforward actions…

It had to be said that Lin Haifeng certainly deserved the description of brutal and ruthless.

「…」

The Oscillation from her heavy armor impacting the ground briefly woke Qin Shiyuan from her unconscious state.

However, the overwhelming stench and a strange sensation in her body caused Qin Shiyuan to faint once again…

Arthur understood Qin Shiyuan’s reaction perfectly…

Let alone Qin Shiyuan, Arthur himself was deeply troubled by the slime covering him.

The odor was truly unbearable…

Fortunately, there was no visible effect from the slime on him for now.

Perhaps it’s only meant to disgust, Arthur thought.

After laying Qin Shiyuan down on the ground beside him, Arthur immediately surveyed his surroundings.

The dark sewer was quiet, and Arthur’s senses detected no presence of other creatures—this signified that the sewer environment was relatively safe…

From above came occasional roars and agonized howls. Arthur even heard the desperate cries of the five Demon Fiends who had appeared.

After the wails, silence fell. Not another sound could be heard from above or around. Combined with the dim, eerie light, this cast a terrifying atmosphere over the entire sewer.

However, Arthur was no ordinary man.

While he found it puzzling that the Demon Fiends from above hadn’t pursued them, avoiding a fight was undoubtedly the best choice when he had Qin Shiyuan to protect.

Having come to this realization, Arthur decisively moved Qin Shiyuan behind him, sat cross-legged on the ground, narrowed his eyes, and pushed his Five Senses Distribution to its limit, carefully observing any movement around them…

Shadow, lurking in the surrounding darkness, witnessed this entire scene.

Quietly activating his power, Shadow moved along the omnipresent darkness, gradually creeping away.

Only when he was safely out of Arthur’s sensory range did Shadow finally let out a sigh of relief.

Without Demon Fiends to provide cover, and with Arthur fully utilizing his Five Senses Distribution, Shadow wasn’t sure if his concealment ability could deceive Arthur’s senses.

Fortunately… Everything has come to an end…

Thinking this, Shadow slowly took out his communicator and issued a final command to his teammates.

”Send all the Demon Fiends you control on a suicide mission.”

「…」

As the black-robed man, hidden somewhere in the sewer, issued the final order to the Demon Fiends, the entire incident quickly subsided.

Ultimately, this was a self-directed tragedy. With his objective achieved, Lin Haifeng was unwilling to cause further casualties.

With the support of several nearby Sequence-class powerful experts, the military warriors, in battle formation, advanced steadily toward the marketplace street. Any scattered Demon Fiends encountered along the way were annihilated.

Under the ”tacit cooperation” of the military and the black-robed man, there were no assassins hiding in the shadows. All Demon Fiends, regardless of their abilities, transformed into the most valiant warriors, launching desperate charges against the well-organized military forces.

Then, they were reduced to ashes before various modified Weapons…

The distant sounds of artillery fire and combat naturally reached Arthur’s ears.

Hearing the uniform rhythm of footsteps, Arthur let out a soft sigh of relief.

Arthur was familiar with the military’s battle formations; likewise, he could distinguish the sound of advancing military warriors’ footsteps.

Since the military reinforcements have arrived… there shouldn’t be any more issues, right?

Thinking this, Arthur slowly lifted Qin Shiyuan, carefully examining her unconscious form.

Don’t get the wrong idea. Under these circumstances, Arthur had absolutely no ulterior motives. Besides, both of them stank terribly right now. In the face of such an odor, even a fairy would be knocked from her pedestal…

Arthur merely wanted to check if Qin Shiyuan had sustained any injuries…

Soon, Arthur’s gaze fell upon a wound on Qin Shiyuan’s back.

「…」

The wound was long but not deep. Superficially, it looked as if she had been accidentally scratched by something sharp.

When the ground collapsed earlier, the massive amount of steel bars and stone debris could easily have caused such an injury.

Arthur didn’t dwell on it. With Qin Shiyuan’s strength, even under my protection, minor bumps and scrapes are unavoidable.

He immediately took out a healing potion and lightly patted Qin Shiyuan’s cheek.

”Yuanyuan, Yuanyuan, wake up.”

Qin Shiyuan didn’t respond, her continued unconscious state not arousing any suspicion in Arthur.

Unable to wake her, Arthur decisively poured the healing potion onto her back.

The healing potion, typically used by a Level 5 professionist, undoubtedly had a potent effect on Qin Shiyuan. Under its influence, the shallow wound on Qin Shiyuan’s back healed rapidly. In a short time, the bloody mark on her back had vanished.

Only after seeing this did Arthur truly relax.

This way, the wound shouldn’t get infected… Arthur thought.

While covered head-to-toe in unknown slime, treating a wound was an urgent matter. What Arthur didn’t know was that his action, correct under normal circumstances, had now inadvertently become the masterstroke that destroyed the last piece of evidence…

No one would ever know what exactly had happened to Qin Shiyuan in that brief period…

「…」

The sounds from above grew nearer, signaling that military reinforcements were not far off.

Arthur took out a watch from his space ring and checked the time.

It had been 23 minutes since the first Demon Fiend emerged from the sewer…

The military’s response was indeed swift. They had reacted within half an hour, dispatched troops to clear out the Demon Fiends, and by now, had probably wiped out more than half of them—the military had performed impeccably!

Then, they should find me soon…

As if in response to Arthur’s thoughts, a loud bang suddenly echoed from directly above him.

The next second, a familiar voice called out.

”Arthur, Qin Shiyuan, where are you?”

”Over here!”

Hearing the familiar voice, Arthur completely relaxed.

Qin Shiyuan’s body had a locator installed by Qin Tian.

And the newcomer was undoubtedly Qin Tian himself.
