Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

The Armed Forces First Hospital, located in the inner city zone, was built in the second month after the apocalypse began.

As a medical institution established with significant military backing, the current Armed Forces First Hospital was more than just a place for medical treatment. It was a high-end scientific research institution that studied the characteristics of Demon Fiends, researched biological weapons, and even analyzed the composition of Demonic Qi, among other functions.

In reality, although the Armed Forces First Hospital was well-known, few professionists had ever experienced its services—it was specially prepared for powerful experts and the military’s upper echelons.

Although Qin Tian was not employed by the military, Lin Haifeng certainly knew how to build relationships. Any Sequence Number, as long as they were in Eternal Sky City or the Yanjing Assembly Site, generally enjoyed privileges similar to those of the military’s Sequence Numbers.

At the very least, Sequence Number 4 bringing his younger sister to the Armed Forces First Hospital for treatment was unlikely to encounter any difficulties.

The process of seeking treatment at the Armed Forces First Hospital was not only free of difficulty, but once Qin Tian revealed his identity as Sequence Number 4, the entire hospital gave him the green light. Within a mere half-hour, they had assembled many of Cathay’s top medical scientists, as well as support professionists with a wide array of skills.

Their sole purpose was merely to resolve Qin Shiyuan’s comatose state.

The privileged class was omnipresent. Moreover, even among the Sequence Numbers, there were differences in status.

Seeing this scene before him, Qin Tian even maliciously wondered if this hospital would declare martial law were Wen Yu to come for treatment.

Of course, the only reason Qin Tian could ponder such things here was that he already felt his younger sister wouldn’t have any major problems.

She had merely fainted from shock; this always used to happen when his younger sister saw blood.

As for the mucus issue, Qin Tian still had considerable trust in Yanjing’s medical capabilities.

However, the situation seemed somewhat unexpected.

Qin Shiyuan was taken into the emergency room. For the next half hour, Qin Tian sat boredly at the entrance, watching the diagnostic procedures inside through the transparent glass window, his mind pondering which treasure land he should tackle next.

After that half hour passed, Qin Tian began to feel that something was amiss.

Because a simple fainting spell shouldn’t take this long.

At this moment, doubts arose in Qin Tian’s heart.

Just then, Arthur also arrived at the hospital in a hurry.

”What’s going on?”

”She’s still being treated. I don’t know what the problem is...”

Hearing this, Arthur instantly furrowed his brow.

”It shouldn’t take that long.”

Watching the ’experts’ bustling about inside the emergency room, punctuated by bursts of discussion, Qin Tian immediately sensed that things had taken a turn.

SQUEAK.

The transparent glass door was pushed open from within. A doctor, said to have been internationally renowned before the apocalypse, walked out and looked Qin Tian and Arthur up and down.

”Do you have a sample of the fluid the patient came into contact with?”

”Yes, we do!”

Upon hearing this, Arthur instantly drew a test tube from his space ring. Inside the test tube, a viscous yellow fluid, glinting eerily like oil, was visible.

”What’s her condition?”

Seeing the doctor take the fluid sample from Arthur, Qin Tian immediately asked.

”Our initial estimate is an unexpected coma caused by a viral infection. We still need more time for observation to understand the specifics.”

”What about the healing potions? Surely the healing potions should have some effect, right?”

The efficacy of healing potions was well known in the apocalyptic era. However, healing potions weren’t omnipotent. They often struggled to completely resolve infections caused by certain viruses and bacteria.

The doctor shook his head slightly, not directly answering Qin Tian’s question, and walked straight to the adjacent laboratory.

This time, without anyone needing to explain further, both Qin Tian and Arthur sensed that Qin Shiyuan might be facing a thorny problem.

Waiting was always a tense affair.

In the large emergency room, numerous expert professors tried everything in their power to awaken Qin Shiyuan.

Yet, this was all in vain.

Subsequently, these medical practitioners shifted their research direction and began studying the composition and specific effects of the mucus.

Of course, this too was futile.

Those in the know were aware that Qin Shiyuan’s symptoms were caused by the Seed of Destruction. Those who were not, however, could never have guessed it—they didn’t even know what the Seed of Destruction was!

In the midst of this chaotic and tense scenario, with the doctors at a loss for what to do, Qin Shiyuan slowly opened her eyes.

”Brother, Arthur.”

Seeing the two familiar faces before her, Qin Shiyuan managed to force a slight smile.

Her pale complexion, combined with a delicate vulnerability that tugged at one’s heartstrings, made both Qin Tian’s and Arthur’s hearts ache.

At this point, Qin Tian and Arthur naturally no longer clung to the idea that she had ’merely fainted at the sight of blood.’

”How do you feel? Is there anything uncomfortable?”

Hearing Qin Tian’s concerned words, Qin Shiyuan slowly nodded.

”I’m so hungry...”

Arthur took it upon himself to go out and buy some food Qin Shiyuan liked. As for the candlelight dinner the two were supposed to have that night, it was naturally forgotten.

Meanwhile, after offering a few words of comfort to Qin Shiyuan, Qin Tian turned and slipped into the adjacent laboratory.

”Did you find out what the problem is?”

Qin Tian grabbed an old, gray-haired professor by the arm, asking anxiously.

Seeing the faint fear hidden in Qin Tian’s seemingly calm gaze, the old professor ignored Qin Tian’s slightly rude action and answered calmly.

”Calm down. Based on our initial assessment, the mucus adhering to her body seems to have caused some degree of viral infection. We haven’t reached any conclusions from further research yet, however...”

The old professor paused, glancing at Qin Tian with a somewhat guilty conscience.

”We’ve never encountered this type of virus or its effects before. The director of the First Hospital has already gone to the Academy of Sciences to request assistance. But, in my estimation, the situation isn’t optimistic...”

”You should prepare yourself mentally.”

With that, the old professor quickly scurried out of the laboratory, ignoring Qin Tian’s dumbstruck expression.

Qin Tian felt as if the world was spinning. He didn’t even know how he had exited the laboratory.

You should prepare yourself mentally...

Prepare yourself mentally...

Prepare...

The old professor’s final words seemed to transform into countless deafening echoes, thundering in Qin Tian’s ears.

He didn’t know how much time had passed before Arthur patted his shoulder from the side.

”It looks like the people from the Academy of Sciences are here...”
