Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

Chapter 570: Chapter 136 Contract Reached (Two in One)_2

Zhang Shaojie shook his head.

”No, all the procedures are complete. The only lapse is that we chose this location for the handover. If anyone notices, there might indeed be some suspicion. However, it’s wartime now. Even if we’re discovered, we’ll have time to escape Yanjing.”

Escape Yanjing...

This was Ye Nan and Zhang Shaojie’s plan after taking Akad...

As for the reason...

”What exactly do you want?” Akad, who had been tossed aside like garbage, calmly asked.

By now, Akad understood. The two men before him were clearly not ordinary military personnel. No, they were from the military, but they were certainly not carrying out any official military duties.

Hearing Akad’s voice, Ye Nan slowly turned his head, his vacant eyes fixed firmly on Akad.

”I remember you. Your name is Akad, right?”

Akad scoffed, showing no awareness of his predicament, like a fish on the chopping block. The arrogant and dismissive expression he usually wore towards others returned to his face.

”Is there anyone in this world who doesn’t know me?”

At this point, Akad had analyzed the situation very clearly. His own attitude no longer mattered. The pair opposite could do whatever they wanted to him. Since that was the case, he might as well converse with Ye Nan and Zhang Shaojie in a way that made him comfortable.

Hearing Akad’s answer, Ye Nan seemed to contemplate for a moment before slowly speaking.

”Actually, I didn’t really know you before... Perhaps the gap in our status was too large.”

”But, that doesn’t matter now. I want to ask you some questions.”

...

”Where is Wanping?”

Ye Nan’s first question went straight to his enemy.

Ye Nan had naturally heard of Wanping’s reputation in the outer city zone. Moreover, due to his intense desire for revenge, he had never stopped keeping an eye on Wanping. Although Ye Nan lacked powerful connections or sophisticated surveillance methods, he remembered Akad, who was always by Wanping’s side.

”I don’t know.”

Although Akad didn’t understand why this man named Ye Nan would immediately ask him Wanping’s whereabouts, it didn’t stop him from telling the truth.

”It’s true.”

Zhang Shaojie, who was standing nearby, confirmed that Akad was telling the truth.

Ye Nan didn’t dwell on this matter.

”Second question: do you hate?”

...

Hate?

Ye Nan’s calm yet eerie voice pierced straight to Akad’s heart...

Hate?

Without needing much consideration, Akad quickly answered Ye Nan’s question.

”Hate! I wish I could eat their flesh raw!”

Ye Nan’s words seemed to possess a special magic, directly stirring the negative emotions buried deep within Akad’s heart.

For a moment, Akad felt an overwhelming hatred. The animosity from Wanping’s betrayal and Vincent’s torture churned within him like an unstoppable tide.

Seeing Akad before him, seemingly having lost his senses and left with only rage and resentment for his enemies, a strange glint flickered in Ye Nan’s eyes...

Words imbued with an imperceptible yet extremely eerie Spiritual Fluctuation slowly flowed from Ye Nan’s mouth.

”So, do you want revenge?”

”I do!”

This question struck directly at Akad’s heart. Under the influence of the Spiritual Fluctuation, Akad suspected nothing and gave his answer!

Hearing the word ”do,” Ye Nan suddenly burst into laughter...

”Then, the contract is established!”

The next second, a strange Black Light instantly enveloped Akad’s body.

...

Ye Nan:

Occupation: Avenging Spirit

Level: Early Stage Level 4

Avenge Contract (No Level, Avenging Spirit exclusive skill): Conduct deep communication with the target, awakening the target’s desire for revenge.

Prerequisite for use: The target harbors resentment.

When asked the two questions, ”Do you hate?” and ”Do you want revenge?”, the power of the Avenge Contract will influence the target’s judgment, causing them to reveal their deepest, truest desires. Once the target answers ”I hate” and ”I want revenge,” the Avenge Contract is immediately fulfilled, forcibly transforming the target into an Avenger.

Note: The Avenge Contract ignores level gaps!

Note: The Avenging Spirit can only master the Avenge Contract skill and cannot obtain any other skills under any circumstances.

Note: For every level the host ascends, they will gain one additional Avenger, up to a maximum of ten (corresponding to Level 10).

Note: Once the Avenge Contract is fulfilled, the target unit will be transformed into an Avenger. Avengers possess an independent personality and thoughts (not significantly different from before their transformation). However, Avengers are absolutely loyal to the Avenging Spirit. Furthermore, as long as not all Avengers are dead, the Avenging Spirit cannot be harmed, nor can it harm others.

Hatred = Power! Avengers, unleash your fury! Use your power to destroy this vile world!

Avenging Spirit Class Trait—Enemy of Its Kind.

Intense negative emotions will subtly influence how beings of the same race perceive the Avenging Spirit and its Avengers, causing them to instinctively feel disgust and hatred. However, among races hostile to the host’s own, the Avenging Spirit and Avengers will gain their deep-seated favor. This favor will not directly translate into friendly relations but will subtly influence their emotions and behavior patterns.

...

After a while, the Black Light scattered.

Akad sat paralyzed on the spot, his expression blank.

This wasn’t due to despair, but simply because Akad now lacked legs. Apart from sitting, he couldn’t assume any other posture.

In reality, under the influence of the Avenge Contract’s power, the current Avenger Akad held no resentment towards Ye Nan. The only hatred in Akad’s heart now was for Wanping and Vincent!

”Treat his injuries.”

The simple command came from Ye Nan. Hearing this, Zhang Shaojie, who was behind him, immediately took out a large quantity of healing potions and other items from his space ring and began applying them to Akad relentlessly.

After a long while, Zhang Shaojie slowly straightened up.

”Akad’s body has been ravaged by the virus. Although the virus can be removed, his physical constitution has been decimated. Without a Limit Breakthrough Level ability, his physical attributes at Level 5 can only remain in their current state.”

Hearing this, Ye Nan nodded gently.

”It doesn’t matter. With the River of Death, Akad’s own physical strength isn’t important!”

The River of Death ability, besides supplying Akad with a vast amount of life force, also allows him to materialize battle thralls. Previously, Akad was alone and couldn’t fully unleash the River of Death’s power.

But now, Akad had ’teammates’...

Even if he was forced.

...

Half an hour later, Akad’s injuries were mostly healed, and even his lost legs had regrown.

”What should we do next? We can’t stay in Yanjing anymore, can we?” Akad, his injuries healed and his status transformed, was the first to speak.

Regarding the abrupt change in his status, under the Avenge Contract’s power, Akad felt nothing particularly unusual—it was as if he had always been this way.

Hearing this, Zhang Shaojie, standing nearby, slowly nodded.

”Yanjing will react quickly. We must withdraw immediately.”

Through the Avenge Contract’s bond, Akad clearly sensed that Zhang Shaojie, this mid-to-high-ranking military officer, was also one of Ye Nan’s Avengers!

And as Avengers, the final decision must rest with the Avenging Spirit...

”Let’s go. Leave Yanjing first.”

”Where to?” Akad asked.

Ye Nan slowly furrowed his brow. After contemplating for a long time, he finally spoke.

”To find Wanping!”

”I told you, I don’t know where Wanping is...”

”But I do,” Ye Nan said, his tone complex.

”If I’m not mistaken, that Wanping fellow should be heading back to Mudanjiang City...”

Strictly speaking, Ye Nan wasn’t sure if Wanping would actually return to Mudanjiang City.

But, unable to stay in Yanjing, Mudanjiang City was the first place Ye Nan thought of, and the place he most wanted to return to.

At least, after gaining this power and before starting his revenge, he should go back and see his wife and child...

Exhaling deeply, Ye Nan’s expression turned complicated.

”Shaojie, lead the way. We’re taking the underground tunnel.”

”Yes!”
