Apocalypse: Master of Soul Beasts

”AWOOO!!”

A howl that seemed to tear vocal cords apart blasted from the mouth of a Demon Fiend. Not far away, this bizarrely shaped Demon Fiend, like a streak of Black Light, clutched a corpse in its mouth and charged toward the only visible mission objective in a desperate, death-defying rush.

With the enhancement of its Level 5 strength, the Demon Fiend covered the distance of a few hundred meters in a single leap, reducing it to mere meters. It then opened its massive maw, a chilling frost brewing within.

”BANG!”

Before the Demon Fiend could unleash its ”Chilly Ice Breath,” a giant fist encased in Iron Armor shot out from below, smashing directly into its chin. This simple punch not only blocked the Demon Fiend’s attack but also sent it flying into the distance like a cannonball.

In this abruptly formed battlefield, Arthur’s own strength was definitely at a Dominator level.

However, the overall situation was not optimistic...

More than a thousand Level 4 and Level 5 Demon Fiends were already enough to dominate the outcome of a small-scale war. Even the military’s most powerful special combat brigade didn’t boast such a formidable lineup of Demon Fiends as the ones in this assault.

Thus, the fate of the other humans in the market naturally didn’t need further mention.

Without the protection of powerful experts like Arthur, in less than three minutes, the terrifying Demon Monsters had wiped out nearly all the survivors in the market. By this time, the military forces had only just completed their combat preparations and were about to enter the market.

Along the wide street, Arthur fought as he retreated. Led by over a dozen soldiers, he dashed desperately toward the market exit.

However, with no one else to draw the Demon Fiends’ attention, Arthur and his group had undoubtedly become the focus of most of their eyes.

”BOOM!”

A deafening roar sounded as a building on one side suddenly collapsed, sending countless Giant Stones raining down on the dozen or so soldiers clearing the path ahead.

These professionist soldiers, averaging Peak Level 3, were naturally not easy to handle. The group of over a dozen either blocked or dodged, easily dealing with the assault of Giant Stones. However, in the next instant, a pale cyan shadow shot into the soldiers’ formation. The sounds of whizzing air and tearing flesh immediately rang out.

Arthur, sensing the sudden development, killed the Demon Fiend before him with a single swing of his giant sword. His weapon erupted in a dazzling white light, and a massive Sword Qi shot towards the cyan shadow.

”BOOM!”

The Sonic Sword Technique detonated.

The massive sound wave spread far and wide. Not only did it stop the cyan Demon Fiend in its tracks due to the Oscillation, but it also flung the five soldiers who had yet to be grievously harmed far away, leaving them unconscious on the ground.

Only then could Arthur finally see the cyan Demon Fiend clearly.

It was only about a meter tall, its entire body covered with pale cyan pustules that pulsed continuously, as if gestating something disgusting and terrifying...

Arthur didn’t press his advantage. Killing the enemy wasn’t his primary objective. Seeing the Blue Pus Demon Beast still standing dazed nearby, Arthur decisively pulled up Qin Shiyuan—who was weak-kneed from the sight of blood—and, while keeping a close watch on the Demon Fiend before them, slowly began to retreat.

Without the dozen or so soldiers ”getting in the way,” Arthur’s physical capabilities could be fully utilized. In a way, this also meant he could offer Qin Shiyuan more comprehensive protection.

As for the five sacrificial pawns still standing there, Arthur couldn’t care less if they lived or died!

Arthur’s every move was observed by a certain professionist watching from afar.

Seeing Arthur decisively abandon his ’teammates,’ Shadow chuckled softly.

Humans, for the most part, were all the same. When their own lives, or the lives of those they cared about, were threatened, the lives of others immediately plummeted to the level of sewer water in their eyes.

Life was never equivalent.

Quickly taking out a communicator, Shadow contacted his teammate in the sewers.

”Your Number 13 ’Pet’ is near the target. Their position is near the entrance to sewer number 28. You know what to do, right?”

”Understood...”

A languid voice transmitted from the communicator. The moment the words ended, the Demon Fiend opposite Arthur reacted instantly!

A scene resembling a transformation unfolded before Arthur’s eyes.

The Blue Pus Demon Beast, still dazed from the Sonic Sword Technique (Oscillation), began to swell rapidly all over.

Its originally shriveled body transformed in a short time into a three-meter-tall, powerfully built hulk.

However, the Blue Pus Demon Beast’s skill wasn’t merely a simple transformation...

In the next second, the Demon Fiend let out an excruciatingly painful howl, and then the Blue Skin Demon’s body swelled once again.

This wasn’t a simple secondary transformation. Judging by the extent of change in the Blue Skin Demon’s muscle tissue, a realization formed in Arthur’s mind...

Then, Arthur immediately pulled Qin Shiyuan behind him.

He had just completed this simple action when a violent explosion erupted from behind him.

Arthur felt a massive wave of viscous fluid crash over him from behind like a tidal wave, drenching both him and Qin Shiyuan in a copious amount of disgusting, slippery liquid.

A foul stench drilled into his nostrils from outside his faceplate. The intense odor made Arthur’s stomach churn, and he had to endure it for a long moment before finally suppressing the urge to vomit.

As for Qin Shiyuan, she was even worse off; she had fainted the instant the liquid splashed onto her.

This disgusting skill, almost like a biological weapon, didn’t elicit any particular emotions from Arthur.

The existence of the Skill System had given rise to countless bizarre skills. A move like self-detonating to release viscous fluid, though disgusting, wasn’t outside Arthur’s expectations.

Sensing the aura fluctuations behind him rapidly disappear, Arthur composed himself and surveyed his surroundings.

The loud explosion had attracted most of the nearby Demon Monsters. With Qin Shiyuan to protect, Arthur’s combat effectiveness was significantly, albeit invisibly, diminished. Therefore, finding a route to break out easily was Arthur’s primary task.

However, before Arthur could make any move, a sudden CREAK, CREAK came from beneath his feet.

The eerie sound made Arthur’s heart clench.

Before Arthur could react, the ground beneath his feet suddenly gave way. Holding Qin Shiyuan, Arthur lost his footing before he could do anything.

Clutching Qin Shiyuan, they plummeted into the chasm below as if in free fall.

Caught off guard, Arthur quickly shifted Qin Shiyuan’s body, turning his own back downwards to absorb the impact of their landing. He then glanced down, trying to spot any Demon Monsters lurking below.

However, this simple act of turning his head created an opening for someone...

A stream of gray airflow instantly swept across Qin Shiyuan’s back, leaving a shallow scratch. Then, a black seed, the size of a rice grain and hidden within the gray mist, squeezed into her body through the wound.

Under Shadow’s powerful aura Concealment and in the dim light, Arthur remained completely oblivious. As for Qin Shiyuan, already unconscious, it was even more impossible for her to react.

Shadow’s first move had already sown the seeds of destruction.

And without a trace...
