You Were Told to Design Software, But You Created Tiktok?!

149: Section 149For a time, the attention of countless players was drawn to Dota Mobile.

Many people wanted to see what the update for Dota Mobile would be like a month from now.

This trending topic immediately rose to the number one spot on the hot searches.

In reality, the high level of discussion surrounding this information was well within Pony Ma’s expectations.

It could even be said that one of the key reasons he decided to be a guest this time was to announce information about Dota Mobile on stage; this was his objective.

Pony Ma knew that the meeting where he would discuss with Wang Mo on the same stage would undoubtedly generate a lot of buzz.

Announcing the next update for Dota Mobile at this time would bring immense attention to Dota Mobile.

Furthermore, because of his words, many users would stay on Dota Mobile out of curiosity, and it might even attract many people to re-download it, just to see what Dota Mobile could update in a month.

His action would significantly reduce the user churn rate.

If a Dota Mobile player who followed the live broadcast or saw the hot search had originally planned to uninstall the game, they would definitely keep it out of curiosity after this event.

The situation was largely as Pony Ma had expected.

On the day of the Internet Conference, the growing user churn gap of Dota Mobile actually stopped, and by evening, the number of users had even increased compared to the previous day!

Dota Mobile also entered the top ten of the download charts in various major mobile app stores.

It could even be said that the various activities they had conducted in Dota Mobile in the previous two days did not achieve as good results as his few words at the Internet Conference.

For a time, external attention to Dota Mobile once again reached a peak due to the Internet Conference.

The seemingly unstoppable user churn was actually stopped in the subsequent period.

In the period that followed, as the date Pony Ma mentioned, the one-month mark, steadily approached, the popularity of Dota Mobile continued to increase.

Although there were still many users uninstalling Dota Mobile every day, there were also many users who came to watch the excitement and re-downloaded Dota Mobile, creating a strange balance between the two.

Furthermore, a few days before the one-month mark after the Internet Conference, Dota Mobile directly climbed to the second position in various major mobile app stores, second only to Honor of Kings!

This achievement could be considered a miracle for the current Dota Mobile.

However, for most users, they felt that Pony Ma was talking nonsense and did not believe that Dota Mobile would truly launch any major updates on that day.

Some loyal players who still remained in Dota Mobile truly hoped that Penguin would still be able to offer something.

Regardless, as time continued to pass, everyone was looking forward to this update of Dota Mobile.

And the time quickly arrived at the day before Dota Mobile’s impending update!

At 8 AM that day, the official Weibo of Dota Mobile released a piece of information, announcing that Dota Mobile would undergo a server shutdown update at 1 AM the next day, with an estimated update time of eight hours.

However, the specific update content was not detailed in this Weibo post.

But no matter what, Pony Ma had indeed kept players in suspense during this period.

Therefore, this seemingly unremarkable post, which would normally not attract much attention to a Dota Mobile update, quickly climbed to the top of Weibo’s hot searches in a short period of time!

Many players were looking forward to seeing where Pony Ma’s confidence in his boast came from.

The number of Dota Mobile users during this period also far exceeded Penguin’s internal estimates.

Originally, Penguin internally estimated that during this month, the various methods and activities they launched to retain players should be able to keep the player count from falling below 20 million.

But because of Pony Ma’s actions, before the Dota Mobile update, this number was actually 35 million.

This was 5 million more than the number of Dota Mobile users before the Internet Conference.

However, Penguin’s internal team was also very clear that most of these users were there to watch the excitement, and not many of them actually played every day.

Meanwhile, Honor of Kings, after another month of development, now had a daily active user count of over 110 million.

It could even be said that every day, Honor of Kings was setting new records for mobile game daily active users.

However, for the current Honor of Kings, Dota Mobile did not pay much attention.

Now their focus was entirely on the upcoming update.

In their view, as long as this update was launched, then Dota Mobile would truly be able to survive.

As for future development, that would have to be seen slowly.

At the same time, on the night before the Dota Mobile update, inside Junzi Group, Zhang Fan had just pushed open the door to Wang Mo’s office.

“Boss,”

“Dota Mobile is launching its latest update tomorrow.

Should I have Honor of Kings make some countermeasures, like organizing some events?”

Listening to Zhang Fan’s words, Wang Mo slowly shook his head.

“No need.”

“If I’m not mistaken, we have no means to influence the update Dota Mobile is launching this time.”

“Just let nature take its course.”

“Everything else can be discussed after the Dota Mobile update.”

After Wang Mo finished speaking, Zhang Fan also let out a breath and nodded.

“Then I’ll listen to you.”

With that, Zhang Fan left Wang Mo’s office.

Wang Mo, meanwhile, turned his gaze towards the window, looking in the direction of the Penguin Building.

He also slowly murmured, “Actually, I didn’t plan to launch a chat software so early, but since you’ve already discovered the importance of social attributes, there’s no need for me to wait.”

“It’s just that this time, Ali Group will probably be dragged into it by you too.”

In fact, as soon as he transmigrated and discovered that Yan Country in this world only had Penguin QQ as a chat software, Wang Mo had already decided that he would launch another chat software at some point.

The influence of this chat software would be several magnitudes higher than QQ.

Its importance was self-evident.

However, due to the importance of this software, Wang Mo had originally planned to wait until the company’s foundation was more solid before launching it, but Penguin accelerated its pace.

The reason this chat software was so important was not only because it would shake the true foundation of Penguin Group, but also because one of its functions would involve Ali Group.

In this chat software, the online payment wallet was also an extremely important function.

In his previous life, the market share of this chat software in the online payment field was even higher than Ali Group’s Blue Wallet.

In other words,
